In this episode, I’ll be starting us off by sharing my mood board, created using my seven step process that I laid out in last week’s Midweek Ramble and then after that, I hand it off to all of you who submitted mood boards to me over at woolneedleshands@gmail.com for a super inspiring Mood Board Gallery montage. If you aren’t feeling inspired today, this is the episode for you. A perfect one for sitting back, relaxing, and just taking it all in.

I found that when I started setting up boards on my Pinterest sight, that I actually had preferences. Who knew! I quickly figured out the designer I love, is Dior, even though I will never be able to afford Dior. When I started making boards for , say, shoes, or purses, or yarn, I suddenly saw I really did have my own style. Those mood boards are all beautiful.

This is so cool! I love it when things like this take us on a little journey of self-discovery. And Dior is one of my favorites in terms of aesthetic. And Chanel. 🤤 Ha! That'll be the day. 🥴

A further thought: I feel this description of your style covers all iterations of your various sides and moods. I like that the images could easily shift (based on season or various other inflections), while the integrity of those core words still hold the space for your innate style. This actually really motivates me to give this process a try! Currently in the throws of newborn life and am craving creative process almost more than ever 👶

Thank you for all the mood boards! I wasn’t going to make one because I have No Style. Funny, because my godmother was a couturière, and she taught me how to look at and see style, but I just can’t seem to wear it. I’ve decided to just start with my favorite colors, develop a palette, and think about the stitch patterns I enjoy. I was tickled to see Norah Gaughan's Nightingale sweater (my favorite) on a board; I love the sweep of the cables, and the color too. I don’t know if it would suit me, though. On to the mood board and see what transpires!

I am not finished with my mood board yet, I am still brainstorming and looking at pictures. But what I noticed after a while is that what I am drawn to is not how I style in my everyday life - and I have always been unsatisfied with my style. Seems obvious, but I never really challenged my viewpoint and buying/ making habits. I am not sure how I will proceed having unearthed this revelation yet, but thanks for opening my eyes to it!

Your color story is my definition of cozy! I am drawn to those colors for our living/lounge room and have held fast against the white/grey/chrome and sometimes blue trend in decor because it seems so cold to me. I used to wear a lot of those cozy fall colors, but the jewel tones and sometimes neons are calling to me these days. I clash with my house. 😂 Fun to see all the mood boards. Congrats to the winners! 🎉

Those are all lovely! I'm in central Texas and it's going to be 95 degrees with a low of 70. The only way I know it's fall is because there are pumpkin spice lattes everywhere. I love cozy fall knits and colors, but we just don't have the weather to wear them here. I need to move somewhere with distinct seasons instead of "It's too hot for 9 months and then it's not for 3 months."

Some are very smooth and twisted, some very rustic and “toothy,” and some between. I am trying to research how one matches wool to project, when is one better than the other? Choosing the right yarn for a project can result in success or failure of finished garment. This would be a good ramble subject.
