    G'day friends!
    Happy New Year!
I hope you are all well. I thought that I would start the new year with my favourite two player games of all time!
What are your favourite two player only games to play? The reason that I made this list is because I had a few friends who were new to board gaming who asked me what were some great couples games to get when starting out in the hobby. This is a personal favourite list! I would love to hear about your top 5 two player game list. Lets compile them here so other people can discover more two player games!
This is a safe space to chat, share stories and play!
    Cheers
    Danny :)

Mine is Village Green, Mint Delivery, Canopy, and Castles of Burgundy (really this game feels too long to play unless for 2 players).

I bought it about 2 months ago and my wife and I play it most days. Almost no set-up time, 20 playtime, great gameplay, 25 scenarios that ramp up in difficulty and introduce new genuinely interesting mechanics. It is a 10/10 for me

@@avideogameodyssey3204 Yeah, definitely picking it up tomorrow. Seems like a game my son would enjoy playing. Thanks!

Hey Danny, besides the obvious fact that two player games are designed as such, and so seem to flow much more naturally, they have the added advantage of no redundant components or resources, making for a better-value cheaper game. Love Naga Raja, it was one of the first two player games we acquired. Newer additions have been Mob: The Big Apple, Sobek 2, Holmes: Sherlock and Mycroft, Glasgow, Caper Europe and Splendor Duel. All totally different experiences. Recently acquired Akrotiri, which looks interesting: tile laying with islands (not dissimilar looking to Land and Sea…which I may well purchase in the near future), but with a pickup and delivery trade mechanism too. Really enjoy your content, always positive and informative… cheers, Glenn

Some of my faves are Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small (Big Box), Watergate, and Patchwork.

A lot of great options, I own 4 out of the ones you picked. Glad to see a shoutout to Haven! My other top ones are, Shotten Totten and more recently Star Wars Deck Building game. More for fans of Star Wars though. I'll need to check out Land vs Sea.

Great choices! Paris and Land vs Sea are also very high on my list. Good to see Haven and Naga Raja. These four games don’t get the attention they deserve.

Have you ever played riftforce? To me it’s like a slightly more advanced land vs sea. You might like it. It’s 5 lanes instead of 3 and more variance.

I'd recommend Lost Cities. Both mine and my wife's favourite game. Warning, though, it can get very competitive!

I actually wished for Décorum for Christmas because I saw it in one of your older two-player games videos and my family and me have been enjoying it immensely, so thank you! :D

I love the tension of a good, focused head to head game - the only way that I really enjoy direct competition in gaming. Paris Lumiere and Hive are great choices - I’d also recommend Watergate, Schotten Totten, and YINSH.
I’ll have to try and give Naga Raja a go - looks intriguing.

Thanks for sharing this list Danny. Had the chance to try Sail for the first time at PAX Unplugged and besides the beautiful graphic design we did have fun with the game!

I was surprised Sail was on his list. I’ve never played it myself. I thought it was newer but I’ve watched it played and it seems.. really random and dependent on the draw.

Two player dueling is my favorite niche in board gaming. MTG will always be up there for me in this category but my top games are: Raptor, Riftforce, Tash-Kalar (even with the ugly art), Santorini (currently on Kickstarter for another printing) and Godtear.
Please share your lists with me!

I also play mtg! I kept mtg away from this list as I felt it belongs in its own category. I would also suggest Lacuna or even Akrotiri, Bear and Bread and That Time You Killed Me by Pandasaurus Games

What is the name of the game you showed as you were pulling Granja of the shelf talking about your hubby and you keeping your competitive feelings going? The components looked fabulous. It was between #6 and #7 it had horses and looked like samurai????

endless love to hive, can't agree more with that pick and excellent video. What are your thoughts in Hanamikoji and Arboretum? those are fantastic 2 player game

    • @BoardGameSanctuary
      @BoardGameSanctuary  4 месяца назад +1

I love love love Arboretum! I didn't include it as it plays 4p. But Hanamikoji I have cooled over time. It seems to be a bit too samey for me sadly.

@@BoardGameSanctuary i understand your feeling of Hanamikoji. Once both players reach a similar skill level, the game becomes more of a bluff game, but i think i really enjoy that level. I love to introduce it to gamers and non gamers cause it's so unique and tricky yet easy to grok.

    • @BoardGameSanctuary

Yes there is a little bit of bluffing and trying to work out which move youre opponent will make next. Great tension too@@hugocruz2439
