Willow has turned into a great milker, I meant to tell you that the other day and forgot to comment. I did think it was cute she ran inside to pout a bit when the fence got her but the kids just kept on foraging. They’re all doing so good. TFS. God Bless~ Lisa
Super great video. Loved everyone on the homestead enjoying a meal together. Your dinner looked delicious. All the animals warm my heart, super characters they are. Have a great week everyone 😉👍
Always good to start my morning getting to walk the farm with you. The ladies looked nice in there matching outfits. Good to see you figured out a solution to the fence problem. You are always a good problem solver. I am on bed rest this week because my kidneys and liver are not doing good so I am going to bing watch some of your earlier vlogs!
I really enjoy watching you and your family. SO relaxing and great to see how wonderful you are to your animals. Its hard work and I am sure they appreciate you!
We feed our goats high-quality second cut alfalfa. I once watched a video on milking from Michigan Snowpony that you only get out what you put in your dairy goat. So they get the best even at almost 5 months old. We have one more coming in Spring. By that time, our current doe will be in milk and can supplement it for the bottle kid.
That food looks so good your wife must be blessed and you must be blessed to have your wife and your family so beautiful. Thank you for sharing your life. Blesses me greatly
It's also good to put out a mineral tray with baking soda they will eat it to help with bloat and for worming I've used basic h soap and it works great it's organic and you can consume the milk while worming you can get it on Amazon
scrambled eggs and bacon!! My goats don't get hay in the summer, they have to fend for themselves and eat from the pasture. If I gave them dry hay they probably wouldn't even eat it right now. In the winter however we give them a mix of alfalfa, timothy hay and other grasses. They also get a grain ration of oats and barley, alfalfa pellets and sunflower seeds, especially when they are kidding and nursing. With goats the grass is always greener on the other side.
My goats love chaffhay also! I feed my goats hay and hay pellets. Their milk produced quite a bit when I started feeding hay pellets I think. They get alfalfa Bermuda blend pellets.
Good morning Al. Looks like your fence charger is solar? I haven't looked into these yet. Can one unit offer both ways, for grid or solar charging? We are in the woods and not sure if a solar charger would be suitable, with the amount of sunlight we receive. We want to buy the electrified poultry netting to protect our future woods garden. Thanks.
Figero is must have a special night life, he not sharing with us. When l was a kid, l put my hands on one of those fences. It was an shocking expirence to be sure. Once you touch it, your hands have a hard time getting off the fence. Thanks for sharing!👖👗👖👗👖👗👖👗👖👗👖👗👖👗👖👗👖👗👖👗👖👗👖👗👖👗👖👗👖👗👖👗👖👗👖👗
My old goats liked junk hay. When fall comes bag up dried leaves they love them in the winter and fresh spruce bows were their favorite but only in winter they're to pungent in the summer
What voltage (loaded) and Joule rating is the electric netting running at? I noticed you have at least one cat, have you seen the cat get a shock yet? I'm looking for something similar but do not want to harm our pets.
How did you end up liking the electric netting? And do you still use it? Any issues? We just got goats and were not ready for them and need some outdoor space for them. Lol
Once you get your pasture planted and growing, do you plan on having it baled? We bale ours, and sell what we don’t need. It pays for our hay to get cut and baled and makes livestock a whole lot cheaper! A little extra money doesn’t hurt either. Our hay field is 3 acres (Half Alfalfa, half pasture mix) and we get about 200 bales first cut, 170 second cut, and maybe 120 third cut. That’s a lot more than we need so we end up making a profit as well.
Time for them young hens to go on the calcium enriched laying feed. It is interesting you got your chicks 2 weeks or so after mine and mine been laying for two weeks. I got my chicks Feb 7 and they were 1-2 days old.
We feed an alfalfa pellet that is 18% plus as much hay as they want. We have very good quality alfalfa and also sericia lespedeza. It is a legume that is a vermefuge.and deters barberpole worms. There is also grazing of bermuda grass. they love the lespedeza best, it has an herb aroma .
We give our goats 2nd cut hay simply because that is what we buy for our cow. Now and them we get a bale that is more rough with twigs and thistles in it. The cow doesn't like that but the goats have no problem eating it. I'm interested to see if people feed mulch hay to their goats, I had never considered that.
Alfalfa hay is well known for increasing milk production! We gave all milkers free choice alfalfa/orchard hay. Horse quality Bermuda as well to everyone free choice. They all love alfalfa. I am not sure what "mulch" hay is. If it has many weeds I would be very concerned with toxic plant species that invade field and can easily hide. I hope Links is feeling okay?
Goats love weeds. The more weeds, the better! Hay with weeds in it is okay for goats. A nice orchard grass mix would be good for them. Something with a little alfalfa or clover mixed in (but not entirely either one) would be good too. Do you have loose goat minerals available for them free choice? If not, find something especially made for goats so that it has enough copper in it. That will help their coats a great deal.
Hey Al, any idea when the chickens start laying eggs regularly? I have 10 the same age as yours in the tractor and laying seems really irregular. They are free range so I'm not sure if the laying is irregular or if I have dozens in the bushes I haven't found yet haha
Mike Klein I would be willing to bet that you have eggs in the woods. LOL! They apparently just started to lay so every day will be like an Easter egg hunt! Good luck with that!
You can still make little boxes or area where they can hide away while they lay even with them free ranging. You can still provide nesting areas. If you have dry weather and some cardboard boxes then experiment add some straw or wood shavings in there because they like making a laying bed out of the Material. Some will lay in the hen house if you build a nesting box some will find a area they prefer. Remember a happy chicken is a productive chiken . Place the boxes in areas that are shady and secluded.. They will probably hop in the box and lay there. Also watch them in the morning early afternoon most of them will give away their preferred laying area and thats where you want your boxes.. If your feeding them pellets or crumble it is time to switch to laying blend which is rich in calcium that will help production. I find most chickens prefer crumble over pellets because not all breeds are big enough to swallow the pellet. FInd the area they prefer then make 3 or 4 laying boxes placed on the ground and raised. Scrap Pallet wood would be great. Maybe halfway cover the top because the love to feel secure and hidden while laying. For instance i have one she lays in the ivy that she created a cubby hole in and you can walk right past her and not even know she was there laying under the ivy.
Goats are real good as all around foragers. If you have a problem with brushy weeds, goats are the answer. They tend to leave the sweet grasses alone in favor of the viney and brushy weeds. That is why it good to combine sheep and goats. The goats are also very aware of what they can and cannot eat. They need very little supervision.
Morning beautiful family i continue Enjoy your channel and videos tremendously there are always full of informative information, 😍 love how sausage and link are looking, willow, 🌸 Blossom and buttercups are really living the life ha ha ha, hear yeah Mr. Biggs. Another enjoyable morning around the 🏡 homestead. Morning Olivia, morning Gina have yourselves a great day today Happy Tuesday . Till tomorrow same time same place God bless 👋 bye 🐕🐈🐐🐐🐐🐖🐖🐓🐔🐤🍴🌽🌽🍀🍀🌿🌿🌱🌱😘😘💕💕💕
Great video. Cute trick using the top of the feeder to,hold the top of the tractor open while you pour in the feed. Al, I found out that it is best to let the chickens all start to,lay before adding artificial lights at night. Adding lights early lets the chickens lay early, but then the birds have bloody behinds and the other birds pick,at them. It was not worth the risk. I am sure you will, see that the goats like alfalfa. My goats at alfalfa and consumed huge quantities of the hay. Clover was a distant second to alfalfa. I have not tried electric fencing with goats, but seeing your project, I think I will try. Your goats seem to have learned quickly. What do,you plan to do with the milk from three goats? Where will you get the doe's bred this fall. Will you breed the does all at the same time or stagger the breeding. God bless!
My goats like alfalfa hay the best and you will get higher yields of milk but it is more expensive than regular hay. Also i feed them pellitized alfalfa for horses
Loved the goat running to its barn for safety. If you think pigs make a noise when they get hit by the fence then you should hear gueina pigs..WEE WEE WEE WEE WEE WEE. Yes those little hamster like rodents... we had 100's of feral ones running around from the neighbour letting them go wild.... We had to net off and electrify our veggie patch . We ended up making a electric fence funnel with a "Waterfall" entrance to a trap full of lettuce. caught over 300.
I wonder how many eggs are getting laid and eaten in the pigs bedroom that you dont know about. The pigs are awfully friendly even letting that one bird peck at the food.. With your chickens free ranging you really get to learn their personalities and just how well the adapt and coexist with other farm animals. I am still waiting for the video where you find a clutch of 15 eggs from a chicken thats decided to pick her own place to lay on the farm other then the nesting boxes as that happens with free ranging. ..
I mostly feed 1st cutting. I will save 2nd or 3rd for kidding. But mine seem to like 1st cutting better. They don't waste much of 1st cutting like they do for 2nd and 3rd.

I think Links might be having an issue of sorts. Maybe she ate something bad for her. Let us know if she starts acting better. I'm a bit concerned about her.
It will take a bit for her to feel better. She is a smart cookie. Hope you all have a great week! Love from our family to yours!
Seeing Willow lick that fence and then run into the house, jump on the bed and look out that door was priceless. I'm just laughing.
Willow has turned into a great milker, I meant to tell you that the other day and forgot to comment. I did think it was cute she ran inside to pout a bit when the fence got her but the kids just kept on foraging. They’re all doing so good. TFS. God Bless~ Lisa
Yea the kids were like you wimp! Lol we are staying out and foraging!

We give our goats alfalfa mixed hay. Also free choice goat mineral and add baking soda.Looks like the fence is working good! You have a lovely family :)

Yup! Lol
Doggie Diaper. LOL.
We love watching the animals and your family.
Thank you for sharing your video homestead farmer chicken etc. I love to watch your video 👨👩👧👸👕👓🐩🐈🐔🐓🐥🐖🐐🌱🏡🎥👍👍👍
Do you have a perimeter fence with your electric goat fencing set up? Just cerious how much it will hold them back.
You guys put out awesome videos, keep them coming. See you again tomorrow, and thanks.
Idk if you noticed.....sausage has a heart on her lol......love sausage (i just noticed at1:49)
🐐🐷🐓🐔🍓 hi guys !! still on to form, awesome update on the homestead !! 🍓🐔🐓🐷🐐
How old are the pallets that just started lying? I just got chickens for the first time this year and mine haven’t started laying yet
Thanks for another great start to my day! TFS
Love the channel. I don't milk but I usually feed first and second cutting grass hay with supplement minerals, all animals are in good condition.
how may joules does that solar charger put out?
Goats will learn to respect the fence quickly. Sweet corn looked great.
Willow got zapped and hopefully this will keep her inside. Figaro follows you around like a puppy dog. LOL.
Enjoying your videos, thank you for sharing. God Bless from Phoenix.
Figaro is full of life this morning🐱
willow got spooked by shocks and ran inside ! LOL !
Awesome to follow along today. Have the goats got it now or are they still trying to touch the fence? /Andreas 🇸🇪
the goats are still touching it a bit
How many kv are you getting with your fence. And how many kv do you get with your poultry net
All the animals got extra treats that day! Cool beans!
This is funny Figaro is moving so he is in the background of most every shot.
He like to photo bomb us. Lol
It's also good to put out a mineral tray with baking soda they will eat it to help with bloat and for worming I've used basic h soap and it works great it's organic and you can consume the milk while worming you can get it on Amazon
Baking soda will cause bloat as soon as it mixes with the stomach acid.
scrambled eggs and bacon!! My goats don't get hay in the summer, they have to fend for themselves and eat from the pasture. If I gave them dry hay they probably wouldn't even eat it right now. My dairy goats eat an alfalfa/grass hay mix. Alfalfa helps with milk production in cows, horses, goats, etc..

There are some that will do both. Ours you can charge the battery with an extension cord so you could use it both ways

Where did you get your electric fence?
This is the electric netting that we use bit.ly/2mhCiAZ
Lumnah Acres did you get your solar energizer from there too?
Jesus IsGod yes we did.
Lumnah Acres thank you very much.
The live link doesn't work for me.
My old goats liked junk hay. When fall comes bag up dried leaves they love them in the winter and fresh spruce bows were their favorite but only in winter they're to pungent in the summer

How long did you steam your corn in the Instapot?
we set the instant pot for 2 minutes.
My sheep Willy loved the hay with Timothy heads in it. Courser hay.
How did you end up liking the electric netting? And do you still use it? Any issues? We just got goats and were not ready for them and need some outdoor space for them. Lol

We got the goats the beginning of the summer

How much longer until Sausage and Links go to freezer camp?
end of September October
My goats like alfalfa hay the best and you will get higher yields of milk but it is more expensive than regular hay. Also i feed them pellitized alfalfa for horses
It looks like the one 5 gallon feeder isn't enough for all the chickens to be able to eat at one time.
We use orchard hay and if we have to premium Bermuda
How much does Pluto weigh?
Not much a little over 40 pounds.
Love the videos.
Variety of hay does help with some breeds of dairy goats although some may say differently.
Hahah ... @ 10:09 ......
WILLOW MUGGING FOR THE CAMERA,
TO GET HER (15min. Of RUclips)
TIME & FAME ......
That Was Pretty FUNNY There ......

That is a lot of gueina pigs
yep but you don't get much meat off them ......LOL just kidding "Tell Lil' O " they taste like chicken !! ha ha ha ha
What causes chickens to go broody?
Simple and Savored HORMONES CAUSE BROODY IN HENS.
Willow is so cute
You got goats!! I've been out of the loop for a while but I got you re subcribed with my Premium account
Hihi! Awesome video again Lumnah's! :)
when I had goats I gave them mulch hay they like the briars
Linx seems sluggish today. Hope it's just your timing.
That hen is still Bloody!!🐔
Aimish_malik Awan 😉yep I think she is still broody as well
with electric fences once a pig learns you have weeks, cattle 3 days, but goat 3 hrs till they know its dead
glad to know I'm not the only one who talks to the animals ;-)
You scare me when you use that table saw without a push stick or hold down stick.
Your electric fence enclosure for the pigs is going to be shorted out by all that tall grass as soon as it gets wet.
Im curious why you only get girl pigs, thanks for sharing!
Al, when you're done with the day job.. will you go back fo videos 7 days a week?
Not sure, I know at first I will be doing 5.
Looool she ran into the house
Well I'm not the one to ask 😉I feed all milk cows and goats out of same bale. We feed Baleage to all.
nice one
They will clear the woods out. They will go for the woods before grass.
I wonder how many eggs are getting laid and eaten in the pigs bedroom that you dont know about. The pigs are awfully friendly even letting that one bird peck at the food.. Is Links ok?
I think she's over eating.
It's against the law here to shock your kids LOL
😂
I had a nice little laff. Thank you.
i do the same thing with tater tots
I mostly feed 1st cutting. I will save 2nd or 3rd for kidding. But mine seem to like 1st cutting better. They don't waste much of 1st cutting like they do for 2nd and 3rd.
Thanks. I will have to try some
Your welcome. I'm always happy to help other goat people out. Also my hay is mostly mixed grass.
I love watching your videos. You have a BEAUTIFUL farm and family. I don't know anything about Goats but I watch this RUclips channel called "Wholesome Roots" and they have a lot of Goats. You should go check them out. They might have some good information for you.
Hope Lynx the pig is ok...
Trude Bahus I think it's links.
As in sausage links
I think Lynx looked walking lame earlier in that video. I noticed it when he was coming to get the egg. I hope he is ok. Love from NC
Was Links okay?
I think she over ate.
Like people if it is unpleasant they will stay away from it! Also they have to learn. Sure will save you a lot of work in the future.
Tree Hay
Thumbs Up!!!
ball to far of the ground 16 inches enough
Pigs r getting big
I think Links might be having an issue of sorts. Maybe she ate something bad for her. Let us know if she starts acting better. I'm a bit concerned about her.
👍 👍
Pls don’t use electric fencing yes it works for some people but more then likely you’ll lose a goat, make another permanent run you won’t regret it
I hope Link is ok, kinda moving slow.
