How soon people forget we already had pre set builds in 17 and 19. We had lockdowns, glass cleaners, sharpshooter, shot creators and then pure playmaker and slasher. How quick we all forget. The sharpshooter were bouncing off the back board from half court. Shot creators fading in the midrange etc etc. Every build had a cheese. One slasher had better defense and some playmaking but you couldn't shot at all. Ot would either bring back what we had or people are going to complain. Well.. either way they're going to complain 😂

I don't like it.
The last few years I've made some awesome builds by not touching the steal attribute, or rebounds on my guard builds. Pretty much every build I make will sacrifice 1 or 2 attributes to maximize the key attributes that I desire.
The majority of the 2K community love the steal rating so much that 2K has made it very expensive in regards to attribute distribution.
I can get by with a perimeter defense of 80-85 and with a low steal rating I never spam the steal button picking up pointless fouls. I still get passing lane steals with a low rating, you just gotta get the timing right. Then all those attributes that I didn't put in steal get me a lot higher in several other attributes.
Pre-made builds are gonna have too many attributes in places I don't want.

Free to play is enticing but right now my life is not set for me to grind an another build. Maybe after I settle down in my career I can but otherwise, 2k isn’t a goal of mines.
I always said 2K operates like a free to play game but charges you a yearly subscription.
They been soft testing pre set builds with the templates we currently have this year. The proof is in the pudding 😅

We need a real rookie to legend grind we don’t need an animation grind unless you unlock animations at a certain rep 2k once again just going backwards.

This is similar to what they have right now in 2k24 in the “The W” player builder.. you cant customize your own attributes for your myWNBA player… this exactly why most people don’t play this W mycareer game mode and won’t play 2k25 if this happens. Bad idea. It if aint broke don’t fix it

I actually like the W more than the regular game because whatever build u make is exactly what your build is good at and in the regular game your attributes and badges barely matter

To be honest this new idea for nba 2k25 going to be trash. To be honest if you want to look like luka and the wingspan going to mess up the block and etc but the pre build system will be even worse because theirs a limit amount of thing you can do with the build. And then there people that still spam for steals or post hook every time

Just like any other idea this has pros and cons. The con will always be 2K's greed and how they will use the system to bait people into spending money. Would a free game make it more tolerable? Possibly. One thing i do like about preset builds is it makes things more accessible to newbs. People tend to make terrible builds on their own.
Get engaged by positively working together. Get rewarded by positively working together. Free to play is the right way to go, but I'm opposed to being forced to create only from pre-set builds. Especially when it's your time and your hard earned money that's being invested per build. I feel the creation canvas should be wide open and have fewer limitations with certain playstyles. An overhaul concept towards creating a build is definitely needed but shouldn't be limited.

If they able to nerf builds the builds should be free to use. Than we can just use the next build. Just like cod we just use the next best gun after each nerf.
Set builds are boring. 2k league r playing a full on team game and they complete eachother.. most casuals run solo it does not make sense to not be able to make ur build the way u want to make it
It could improve the Matchmaking since there will be more preset player\ archetypes
Archetypes are way better than this system they have now, the attributes and badges matter more with the archetype system and there are reasonable limits with each build that someone would make which adds skill gap

This grind to unlock animations' ideas sounds really similar to NBA Live's current system.
All the people complaining about making your own build sound slow. The game forces limitations already, and most of the community doesn’t know how to manipulate the attributes to get the correct badges or animations. It doesn’t sound bad as long as I can tweak some attributes just like league build.
i've not played since 2k22, was considering coming back now that i got some friends to play with but if they do any of this i will not play it. when i was playing alone the one thing i did enjoy was playing my career on the hardest difficulty with my unique build, if they take it away and force you to play online to get anything different with their unfixable horrendous delay im not interested.
if you have been playing 2k for a long time and you play on a comp level you prob want the pie charts back lol , i like how the 2kl does it tbh , lets all use the same builds and see whos really the best , theres always gnna be a meta anyways just give me the pie chart meta build and call it a day . when i look at peoples builds there horrible anyways lol pie charts wld be doing them a favor
I feel I only want free to play cos 2k been the same game year after year but, I also don’t like the fact a video game is now an additional expense cos I want to play it for a while. I think games should only use up your time and not your money as well lol.
The biggest issue with overpowered (offensive) builds is that you can’t buy or grind for defensive animations that go hand and hand with the proper badge that would assist you with slowing down the overpowered (offensive build). Maybe 2k needs to stop just thinking offensive like most bball trainers do and start thinking about all of the attributes that really contribute to a game. That’s just one recommendation.
I’m telling you they had the blueprint with the 19 builder atp they should just open up the servers for the older 2ks lol
Tbh for people wanting to earn the vc for their “real builds” this isn’t a bad idea to start, gives people a chance to experience the game early etc. imo it really just depends on what the builds look like on both sides are the presets 3&d types rim protecting finishers for bigs etc and what do the paid for “super builds” look like are they the same as out builds now or will they have even more attributes to use?
Before you guys grind for an animation please make a created player to try it out. I would hate for you to grind for an animation you don’t like.

I don't think they should do preset builds but make all builds and positions to have the same amount of attributes points to where they make a build to a play style and make all animations available to everyone and bring back the reaction badge to determine how fast your player reacts on the court
Truth be told the build system prevents folks from wasting money on custom builds that look good for attributes but doesn’t function the same online.
I agree with pay to win as far as to get ur attributes up to 99 from the get. Keep affiliations the same but the rewards to reaching certain levels should be plus 1 or 2 to meet animation or badge criteria and it should unlock them.. but only for attributes associated with the affiliation ur from. Maybe physical attributes every other level u reach too. Makes making builds a little more interesting/fun. To unlock shooting or dunking animations for example maybe shoot/dunk percentage 50% minimum of 6 attempts for 3 games in a row and u gotta complete it 5 times or something like that to keep people from just spamming 3s or dunks.
I don’t like the idea of everyone having the same builds but in order for us not paying for builds; this would be the best free to play strategy (with some tweaks).
I'm probably gonna pass this year's release if they come out with this template system.

Demi said it himself, something will be OP, season 1 animation, it will get nerfed, season 2 animation comes out, you pay for it, they nerf it and now you’re out money again.
It’s going to be a vicious cycle of being over powered for a short period and throwing away money.

Idk Im on the fence about it because I do want to play a true Giannis build or play exactly like he is in play now and I wouldn’t mind paying for it but depends on how expensive it is this can go one or two ways because if we are able to get our fav basketball players build and true stats/attributes it could be a win but I’ll have to see it first before I make any decisions as would anyone I wouldn’t mind grinding for animations but 2k really needs to remove some limitations and etc there needs to be a gameplay improvements all across the board too they shouldn’t take away the ability to customize builds but have the preset template or nba player builds as an option as well but great video bro and thank you for keeping the community informed man

I think the biggest problem is that we just don't like the game as it is. If 2K would put more money into development rather than marketing, they would make progress. As it is, it's just a lot of ideas and no real fun to play.
Honestly, the you should be able to do damn near everything on a build (with certain limitations by position/weight/height) paying $60-70 for the game, then paying $100 for the build to upgrade at 99 plus animations & cosmetics. That’s a lot honestly. Time = money. Rather have demigods than have a half assed build.

I think the thing he forgetting is that you can easily switch guns on COD but you have to invest to make or switch too a new build. This would only work if you can change builds for free and as accessibility is the same as how easy it is to switch a gun loadout in COD
I got a idea .....once u hit hall of fame / purple u no longer can play the people thats not at that level that way when new people tryn to build there player up they can with competition on there level like make a special park for the hall of fame level players that way they have to play eachother instead of ranking up off bums with 65 rating and that can be used like a prize or something for hall of fame players it would have gamers playing harder tryn to get to that new park its like v.i.p for the good players ...and it will make people stick with there team of friends tryn to get to that level 💯
At this point 2K is just finding a way to reinvent the wheel every year. Just like how they switch up how we earn badges, how we change our physique, how we how we get badge perks, the shot meter, etc. It’s literally all the same shit just switched around.

Pros: template builds is good idea to prevent those OP builds. Free to play is a positive since the casual get tired of the toxic community. Cons: get tired of grinding (pay for special builds, pay the season packs and etc). Price will be Overrated and its will force others to pay to win. Balance is hard for the 2K community

they've already decided theyre not "thinking" games about 2 months away from release, you really think a dev team will start taking opinions now and considering before implementing something that will change the whole game?
2k25 should make it where you have to hit specific stat line or specific accomplishments that actually happen in history to gain vc to add and playing time completion rate and basketball decision will award you and you game play will adjust automatic to the build by the way you play . And height and weight wing span and should wide should have limitations on ability’s and mobility when it comes to attributes.
And the game settings should adjust weekly based on the true nba percentages .
It needs a hardcore controller configuration option where the dribble is in the right stick similar to nba live 2005 to cut down the thinking so people can play without

If they take the same concept of what they did with the badges and use that for dribble moves, layups, jumpers of screens, etc. it would make that entire mess make perfect sense to me🤷🏾♂️ allow players to be able to do the moves but allow them to improve sharpness and accuracy the more they utilize them and “grind” them. One of the many problems solved💯

This sounds like the pie charts that they had. I like creating my own builds. I think 2k24 would've been better with more animations so that people aren't using the same cheese. For example:the Murray behind the back dribble. I see so many people that only rely on this one move, but it's the only one that's decent. But it's also predictable because everyone uses it. I think we should still be able to create builds how we want them, but with more and better animation options for our play styles. Bring the park back, get rid of the Gatorade workouts, bring back our My Court, and get rid of badge regression!!
Pre set builds are a step back. I like the idea of being able to customize your build the way you would like to. But them being able to just change and adjust your animations whenever they want to sounds ridiculous. What’s the point of making a build you have essentially no control over its abilities
The 2k grind will be having everyone living on the game just to get animations and jumpshots.
Can’t believe I’m mentioning this game, but I forgot the RUclipsr name who mentioned it but honestly the 2k18 build was kinda the best builder. Give me a Primary and Secondary Play-style (ex. Post-Scoring Sharpshooter) that fits me rather than me having to need a degree in 2k to make sure I don’t screw up my Day 1 builds. Also rewards should only be cosmetic and intro/outro dances. I recently hit Starter 3 thinking I’ll use some of the animations and I legit use none of them.
I think they just need to try to balance all the animations as much as they can and the jumpshots so that there are just no animations or jumpshots that are better than others and it’s determined mostly by your ratings. This will make sure that it does not matter what animations people pick.they could even go a step further and just have a load of animations that they put out every week including the animations you haven’t used or barely used and give u double rep for using them and charge u a just little more vc than usual for them and this should reset every week and the animations that give u this should be different for every player. This would ensure that most players use everything. Then I think they should go over your build and charge u some vc every season to reuse your most used animations. I think this would just be better than forcing u to play with a build and forcing u to grind for animation while making u think about playing the same way or switching up your game. This would be optional for players, they still make money, while balancing the game at the same time
