We gotta go back to when games were released that WAS IT! You had to wait until the next year for changes etc! Also a lot of latency issues come from CROSSPLAY! Which EVERYONE wanted! lol and I say this being a person who has both PS5 and Xbox Series X! Xbox has a big edge difference in gaming speed compared to PlayStation! Their 7 foot centers move like guards etc! They are beyond cheesy! Which is why I play Xbox. If I’m on ps5 I turn off crossplay! Also turning off Crossplay makes the latency and game MUCH MUCH SMOOTHER!

If my player has a high pass acc, why is our teammates struggling to catch them? And not only when you receive ball, you literally have no control of your player when they catch it. I agree with you. Thought it was just me with knowing my shot and still being inconsistent. One game shoot 1-7 next 3 games miss 2 shots out of 20, that’s happened to me too many times.
i feel like they slowed the latency back down after season 6. everything from steals and jump shots was similar to offline in season 6 and now this shit is slow as fuck because they are letting this game die down and put the good latency back in 2k25 so more people can buy , this company is fucking unbelievable
The latency killed the game this year in my opinion. The amount of times I’ve icon passed the ball to teammates only for it to be late or not pass at all is ridiculous. That’s not including jumpshots and defense. They need to fix this latency issue before anything else.
I didn’t even think about latency I could of sworn it was just my controller, I would icon or pass to a team mate just for my player to hold the ball and miss the play it’s aggravating how often it happens
Facts 💯 man, back at the start of season 6, I created my 3rd Build , its a 6'7 3 Level Scorer with 85 layup, 89 3pt rating and 92 Close Shot, and 92 strength. I bully my way into the paint, green my layups and I am missing more than I'm making😂😂😂 this game can be fun but it is so weird with latency and everything that's already been said Ad Nauseum. I might hop back on when season 8 drops but this 2k24 was just awful. Won't pre order 2k25 and will wait for reviews of this great channel and others ..

I’ve been saying this all year. There’s no reason i shouldn’t be able to throw a ball down the court on fast break without having 89+ pass when it’s literally like the most expensive attribute. Fast breaks feel terrible in this game because of how many bad catches you get on passes that shouldn’t even be bad passes. It’s the most ridiculous thing about the game this year.

Facts. The only reason game companies drop new variations of the same game every year is for money. I think sports games and other games like Call of Duty should drop one main version of the game and have huge yearly updates instead of a whole new game when the previous isn't even perfected.

Me and my brother decided no matter how good or bad. We are not playing 2k24. We made a great decision and are playing new games, going to the gym, working more overtime. So much peace of mind. Burnout is real.
The last 2K I legitimately enjoyed was 2K16. I stopped at 19. Never spent a dime on this game as I only want to simulate real basketball by selecting teams. Not creating players. Bought 2K24 on sale and now my play now experience is ruined by blatant RNG mechanics. Its so easy to tell when the game is not favoring you
I’m not gonna say you’re wrong, but you have to take more time to understand which animations work together when you use them. Note that is asking a lot, but I’ve seen it work perfectly. Check out @kevincruze that’s what he specializes in. Or not. Just respecting your thoughts
I've been squeamish about blaming pro play but I think you might be right. The combination pre canned animations, network latency, and input delay is infuriating.
The sluggish gameplay , terrible animations on Both sides of the ball. 20 different Shìt timings. You said it perfectly, a bunch of Ws will start to feel like Ls after some time lol it’s sad
Its another animation where you as the PG is being pressed in the back court by a defender. When you’re attempting to “blow by” the defender you cant pass the ball up the court due to a canned animation . That really messes up the timing because you have to let the blow by animation play out. Then you hear “Aahhh you missed me..” “you saw me late!” Its frustrating as hell.
Being kicked from a game as soon after “you won” pops up on the screen, is one of the biggest pet peeve’s…. Randoms going into solo rec thinking they’re playing mycareer on easy and getting mad and start selling…. Muphukas using zens and whatever else just to win games…. A community that is the most toxic of any gaming community is by far one the craziest things ever…. 2k downfall started with 2k18 imo honestly…. There’s no reason to buy the next 2k if all there’s going to be the same exact game and the same amount of complaints…. Just saying the game is beyond frustrating

There are a lot of mechanics in the game which just kill the flow/basketball experience (constant steals/blocks, passing out of bounds when someone is open, being too reliant on animations rather than physics, SHOOTING making no sense at times). The general community is also to blame. Not enough people who want to play basketball; just want to show off. Too many bad teammates for a team sport, just play 1v1 if you dont want to pass. Too many people with giant egos (cant find a game cuz gold/purple plates keep leaving, flopping every possession, not playing a lick of defense and just cherry picking). The game itself is playable and i have had enjoyable experiences. Just not enough of them (mostly cuz it takes a business day to get in a game). Biggest problem holding 2k back is the playerbase that is toxic. Nothing will change until people start thinking about others more.
Update: just played a game in which we were winning the whole game until the last minute. Down single digits and my entire team stopped playing all together. Gave up as if it were already over. Just strengthens my point. People are always the problem. A video game can be fixed. People with terrible attitudes apparently cannot.
As someone who isn’t 3 point heavy, i enjoy the game for the most part. Every year I make an Allen iverson type of build and this year layups and middies are actually useable since they kinda fixed ghost contests. But some of the animations just make me want to play a different game. I have 96 layup, and I’m getting blocked by a 6’2 pg with 25 block. Or I’ll pump fake and the center will still block me with his knees.
Outstanding video. I was a 2k fanatic. But unfortunately I haven’t played 2k since 2020 pandemic year. When the neighborhood changed and went to the city that was it for me. I’m glad you addressed a lot of the problems that hinder good gameplay. Nice work. Keep grinding.

Due to work and school I only play once or twice a week now. I feel like it keeps the game relatively fresh for me, and playing with a full squad helps too, lol. When I was playing every night early in the cycle the game was getting very bland to me. Keeping it at a minimum is key. Also, play other games! I started playing Tales of Arise, and have been having a great time. 2K isn't the only game in the world, we all need a little variety
I’m embarrassed to say I’ve made only one build this cycle. Been playing on the same SF build since day 1. I spent 50 on vc on day 1. That’s it. 85 three ball. 93 driving dunk. It’s a fun build. I’m almost at Vet 3. I hit 99 in a week. Been in random rec all year.

That pass delay use to get me almost every time. It's gotten to the point where I actually have to wait for the catch animation to finish before I make the decision on what to do next. Either go up for the shot, pass or simply dribble out.
I agree, 100%. I’ve been shooting with the same shot for the last six months and I’m still missing when I know my shot. If I’m cutting to the basket and you’re wide open for a lob dunk, the animation doesn’t activate. Steal are OD!!!!
Dude I feel you on this... I got fed up back in 2k22 and refuse to play the damn thing... I put them on blast for trolling us for $60 to $100 a week with a $50 game. I don't play mycareer, but I do online in myteam and I go through pretty much, until now until this video I realize maybe I'm not as much trash as I thought I was.... I visited my cousin a weekend and she had 2k24 and that is how I got hooked into this bullshit again...

Plain and simple I stopped bit***** about everything and just played the game and showed gratitude for what the game is and not crying about what used to be or what we don’t have. Like could the game be better sure. But when you play with that mentality your ruining your own experience

I just stopped playing online. All the exact same reasons. We’ll say people trash but the latency is so bad and the average person isn’t running a proper set up to even deal with it. I’m plugged in and I still have to worry about other devices connected on top of the fact that the area where I live the Internet isn’t the best. 2k is the only game I continually have this problem with.

Have seen alot of the same problems struggling to play MyTeam online. Missing wide open 3s while opponent constantly greens contested shots. At times the game becomes dodgeball bouncing passes off of opponents and backs. Etc, etc... Online play is sketchy as hell, and don't notice this playing offline.

I recently just learned how to shoot without the meter and i been going crazy for a while but as of recently my normal shot i always take wide open is delayed something crazy and it will always say late or slightly late, then i release sooner and then it says early nd slightly early, one game i couldnt guess for the life of me what my shot was. I have had the same issues happen with inconsistency and latency from game to game. I speed test my Internet and the usually the difference is in the Internet carrier and how fast they are able to deliver up load speeds based on Internet demand in the general area as well my home.
I agree 1000percent with everything you’re saying. Frustrating is a understatement shooting at times and playing PG but I play Through it when I’m on unfortunately
I rarely ever play against other players online, because of all the reasons mentioned in this video. I’d rather build my player and play against the computer. Especially when you actually do get a good connection and everybody on your team thinks they’re Kobe and ball hogs even when they’re triple teamed and you and other teammates are wide open. I don’t have a crew to run with so I’m always with randoms and that shit is annoying. Some games you get a good team that moves the ball around, makes good cuts, plays defense, crashes the boards and it’s super fun. But those experiences are so few and far between, I typically just stick to the “career mode”.
Dude playing against the computer is so trash. Even on rookie they stuck to you like glue, make you do the jump ball for no legitimate reason reason or your pass in intercepted like a child threw it.

I haven't gone into the rec nor the park in 2k24 for the exact same reason. Latency, the delays between when I make a move or when I shoot versus the actual release is disgusting (used to piss me off in 2k23 which isbwhy i havent tried it yet). And I'm very willing to admit: I'm not very good at the game. Im not one of these extra sweaty tryhards who try to make a competitive Pro-Am build. I just want to hoop. On top of that. Maybe im just old fashioned. But I don't believe in all this microtransaction, buy 10 million VC just to go up 10 levels BS. It seriously turns me off from going to the rec or park because I know there's ALWAYS going to be those group of sweaty ass weirdos who couldn't make the cut on a competitive team so they just want to come to the park and punch on the lower levels; is just pathetically disgusting to me. Granted that will always happen in video games - higher levels picking on lower levels. but what makes it specially disgusting in NBA 2k is we all start from a 60 overall (which is kind of stupid but I guess the game has to get you a starting point from somewhere) but then you get these kids that want to spend an extra $120 on their character so they're suped up to level 99 and it's like bro why would I want to go against these guys who clearly have a much higher chance of winning cause they invested in the pay to win model. You touched on pass trajectory and hit the nail right on thr head. Far too many online inconsistencies.
My spot up shooters are pretty solid. My Center build is frustrating at times because you’ll have a 6’8” center bullying a 7’ interior finisher with high strength. The game is too focused on gimmick builds. If you build a short center, you should be absolutely PUNISHED in the block against a high skill interior finisher. Also, agree with 100% of what you said. Also, the paint contest system is horrible. Getting 60% contest from a 6’8” center when they are behind you after a drop step lol
I been having this issue a bit. My internet isn’t the best. But I be feeling like I’m releasing the ball really well on wide open shots and then it’s a slightly late. Now no one’s passing me the ball while I’m wide open so I can learn my shot
One of the biggest problem is gameplay speed. The game has so many bells and whistles that the server has taken a hit. Everyone in the world that plays the game has different technology too. Technology being internet service provider, modems, tv’s, monitors, controllers, consoles, WiFi, cable internet, Ethernet cords, etc. Until 2k can come up with some sort of equal compatibility in their gameplay these technical issues with equipment will continue to big a big component of sloppy gameplay.
Now I don't have receipts but I swear centers catching ability has to be tied to ball handling which they are almost always deficient(unless undersized)
Pretty sure youre right. I think ball handle is directly tied to the “hands” attribute. So 90 BH = 90 hands, 25 ball handle = 25 hands. I may be wrong though
Regarding the catch animations for bigs: It’s actually because your catches are determined by your “Hands” rating, which is tied to your ball handle in this game (for some stupid reason). Hence why bigs in 2K24 are notorious for getting shitty catch animations. But in theory it’s any build with low ball handle. You can help yourself by holding L2 before the catch, but that only works in spot up situations. Hitting someone on the break or on the roll, you’re just screwed. Really hope this changes in 25.
As someone who has never had a consistent Jumper on 2k, I actually had found a banger that I was able to green at about 60-70%. Sometime around season 2/3 they did an update and I was struggling to shoot 30 wide open. Haven’t deleted, but literally haven’t played since last year and seriously doubt if I’m gonna buy again next year
Got rid of 2k a few years ago i think 21 was the actual last one i bought. The forced animations and having no real control, the forced online intense grind or pay to go only half way and the community just got so toxic. Really took the fun out of the game made my friends quit and left me alone which just made things even worse. Sad to see some of the stuff still haven't changed
2k use to have the badge called Glue Hands that helped with catching and catch and shooting capability. They snatched badges away and didnt snatch away the animations with it , instead now we have no badges to improve our player animations for these mishaps
I only play my eras mode, I made this switch in 23 and 24, and I’ve never had more fun with the game since “quitting” my career. All the options and choices you can make, really make the game play the way you want it to
The dribbling this year has made the majority of play-styles obsolete. Something that I enjoyed in past 2Ks was making a build based on one of my favorite players at the time and my interpretation of his play-style. However, now those types of builds just aren’t serviceable and I wouldn’t even bother trying to make them. It ain’t like I’m a casual either, I’ve been 90-win for the past 3 2K’s in both the park & REC.
Feel like when I play online, the speed of the jump shot changes everytime. It’s like playing a casino within a casino. You never know what type of speed animation you’re going to get.

I’ve been playing 2k since Allen Iverson was on the cover for Dreamcast. With that being said it’s always been fun for me, I’ve also always had issues out of the game. Instead of expecting the game to be the smooth simulator that we all crave, I tend to learn the defects and play them to my advantage. I’ve never seen nor have I expected anything different. Even with better graphics and cool animations the problems still exist, but they also existed from day one. Figuring out that underlying aspect of the game and understanding that it’s flawed takes away the frustration of what should happen versus what actually happens. You have to play against your opponent, latency, and the game’s engine. That’s what it’s always been. I’ll even go as far as to say I wouldn’t have an extra edge against opponents if the games operating system was flawless. 🤷🏽♂️
I stopped playing when they updated the user terms of service. But, like a lot of people already mentioned, the shooting being so bad is what killed it for me. Always 1 step forward and 20 steps back. They just don't know when to leave 💩 alone.

I’ve been saying this all year. There’s no reason i shouldn’t be able to throw a ball down the court on fast break without having 89+ pass when it’s literally like the most expensive attribute. Fast breaks feel terrible in this game because of how many bad catches you get on passes that shouldn’t even be bad passes. It’s the most ridiculous thing about the game this year.
Is cuz ball handle is tied to your hands attributes this year. If you got a low ball handle your gonna get a lot of of weird catches

Facts. The only reason game companies drop new variations of the same game every year is for money. I think sports games and other games like Call of Duty should drop one main version of the game and have huge yearly updates instead of a whole new game when the previous isn't even perfected.

Been saying this for a while, ProPlay is to blame. It’s a broken system that results in animations completely out of the user’s control.
I’m not gonna say you’re wrong, but you have to take more time to understand which animations work together when you use them. Note that is asking a lot, but I’ve seen it work perfectly. Check out @kevincruze that’s what he specializes in. Or not. Just respecting your thoughts
I've been squeamish about blaming pro play but I think you might be right. The combination pre canned animations, network latency, and input delay is infuriating.

Those canned animations you spoke on , has started so many arguments & back n forths in the party.
Its another animation where you as the PG is being pressed in the back court by a defender. When you’re attempting to “blow by” the defender you cant pass the ball up the court due to a canned animation . That really messes up the timing because you have to let the blow by animation play out. Then you hear “Aahhh you missed me..” “you saw me late!” Its frustrating as hell.
Being kicked from a game as soon after “you won” pops up on the screen, is one of the biggest pet peeve’s….

There are a lot of mechanics in the game which just kill the flow/basketball experience (constant steals/blocks, passing out of bounds when someone is open, being too reliant on animations rather than physics, SHOOTING making no sense at times). The general community is also to blame. Not enough people who want to play basketball; just want to show off. Too many bad teammates for a team sport, just play 1v1 if you dont want to pass. Too many people with giant egos (cant find a game cuz gold/purple plates keep leaving, flopping every possession, not playing a lick of defense and just cherry picking).
The game itself is playable and i have had enjoyable experiences. Just not enough of them (mostly cuz it takes a business day to get in a game). Biggest problem holding 2k back is the playerbase that is toxic. Nothing will change until people start thinking about others more.
Update: just played a game in which we were winning the whole game until the last minute. Down single digits and my entire team stopped playing all together. Gave up as if it were already over. Just strengthens my point. People are always the problem. A video game can be fixed. People with terrible attitudes apparently cannot.

As someone who isn’t 3 point heavy, i enjoy the game for the most part. Every year I make an Allen iverson type of build and this year layups and middies are actually useable since they kinda fixed ghost contests. But some of the animations just make me want to play a different game. I have 96 layup, and I’m getting blocked by a 6’2 pg with 25 block. Or I’ll pump fake and the center will still block me with his knees.

Due to work and school I only play once or twice a week now. I feel like it keeps the game relatively fresh for me, and playing with a full squad helps too, lol. When I was playing every night early in the cycle the game was getting very bland to me. Keeping it at a minimum is key. Also, play other games! I started playing Tales of Arise, and have been having a great time. 2K isn't the only game in the world, we all need a little variety
I’m embarrassed to say I’ve made only one build this cycle. Been playing on the same SF build since day 1. I spent 50 on vc on day 1. That’s it. 85 three ball. 93 driving dunk. It’s a fun build. I’m almost at Vet 3. I hit 99 in a week. Been in random rec all year.

That pass delay use to get me almost every time. It's gotten to the point where I actually have to wait for the catch animation to finish before I make the decision on what to do next. Either go up for the shot, pass or simply dribble out.

I don't play mycareer, but I do online in myteam and I go through pretty much, until now until this video I realize maybe I'm not as much trash as I thought I was.... I visited my cousin a weekend and she had 2k24 and that is how I got hooked into this bullshit again...

I just stopped playing online. All the exact same reasons. We’ll say people trash but the latency is so bad and the average person isn’t running a proper set up to even deal with it. I’m plugged in and I still have to worry about other devices connected on top of the fact that the area where I live the Internet isn’t the best. 2k is the only game I continually have this problem with.

Missing wide open 3s while opponent constantly greens contested shots. At times the game becomes dodgeball bouncing passes off of opponents and backs. Etc, etc...

I recently just learned how to shoot without the meter and i been going crazy for a while but as of recently my normal shot i always take wide open is delayed something crazy and it will always say late or slightly late, then i release sooner and then it says early nd slightly early, one game i couldnt guess for the life of me what my shot was. I have had the same issues happen with inconsistency and latency from game to game. I speed test my Internet and the usually the difference is in the Internet carrier and how fast they are able to deliver up load speeds based on Internet demand in the general area as well my home.
The latency has felt terrible particularly for icon passing. It seems like my buttons don't register at all and its a big problem.
I hate when attempting a layup the bar fluctuates depending on openness but when dunking it doesn’t translate. High dunk wide open no bar sometimes
When you get a good defensive stop like a block or steal attempt and somehow the opponent ends up with the ball again.

I rarely ever play against other players online, because of all the reasons mentioned in this video. I’d rather build my player and play against the computer. Especially when you actually do get a good connection and everybody on your team thinks they’re Kobe and ball hogs even when they’re triple teamed and you and other teammates are wide open. I don’t have a crew to run with so I’m always with randoms and that shit is annoying. Some games you get a good team that moves the ball around, makes good cuts, plays defense, crashes the boards and it’s super fun. But those experiences are so few and far between, I typically just stick to the “career mode”.
Dude playing against the computer is so trash. Even on rookie they stuck to you like glue, make you do the jump ball for no legitimate reason reason or your pass in intercepted like a child threw it.

My spot up shooters are pretty solid. My Center build is frustrating at times because you’ll have a 6’8” center bullying a 7’ interior finisher with high strength. The game is too focused on gimmick builds. If you build a short center, you should be absolutely PUNISHED in the block against a high skill interior finisher. Also, agree with 100% of what you said. Also, the paint contest system is horrible. Getting 60% contest from a 6’8” center when they are behind you after a drop step lol
I been having this issue a bit. My internet isn’t the best. But I be feeling like I’m releasing the ball really well on wide open shots and then it’s a slightly late. Now no one’s passing me the ball while I’m wide open so I can learn my shot
One of the biggest problem is gameplay speed. The game has so many bells and whistles that the server has taken a hit. Everyone in the world that plays the game has different technology too. Technology being internet service provider, modems, tv’s, monitors, controllers, consoles, WiFi, cable internet, Ethernet cords, etc. Until 2k can come up with some sort of equal compatibility in their gameplay these technical issues with equipment will continue to big a big component of sloppy gameplay.
Now I don't have receipts but I swear centers catching ability has to be tied to ball handling which they are almost always deficient(unless undersized)
Pretty sure youre right. I think ball handle is directly tied to the “hands” attribute. So 90 BH = 90 hands, 25 ball handle = 25 hands. I may be wrong though
Regarding the catch animations for bigs:
It’s actually because your catches are determined by your “Hands” rating, which is tied to your ball handle in this game (for some stupid reason). Hence why bigs in 2K24 are notorious for getting shitty catch animations.
But in theory it’s any build with low ball handle. You can help yourself by holding L2 before the catch, but that only works in spot up situations. Hitting someone on the break or on the roll, you’re just screwed. Really hope this changes in 25.
As someone who has never had a consistent Jumper on 2k, I actually had found a banger that I was able to green at about 60-70%. Sometime around season 2/3 they did an update and I was struggling to shoot 30 wide open. Haven’t deleted, but literally haven’t played since last year and seriously doubt if I’m gonna buy again next year
Got rid of 2k a few years ago i think 21 was the actual last one i bought. The forced animations and having no real control, the forced online intense grind or pay to go only half way and the community just got so toxic. Really took the fun out of the game made my friends quit and left me alone which just made things even worse. Sad to see some of the stuff still haven't changed
2k use to have the badge called Glue Hands that helped with catching and catch and shooting capability. They snatched badges away and didnt snatch away the animations with it , instead now we have no badges to improve our player animations for these mishaps
I only play my eras mode, I made this switch in 23 and 24, and I’ve never had more fun with the game since “quitting” my career. All the options and choices you can make, really make the game play the way you want it to
The dribbling this year has made the majority of play-styles obsolete. Something that I enjoyed in past 2Ks was making a build based on one of my favorite players at the time and my interpretation of his play-style. However, now those types of builds just aren’t serviceable and I wouldn’t even bother trying to make them. It ain’t like I’m a casual either, I’ve been 90-win for the past 3 2K’s in both the park & REC.
Feel like when I play online, the speed of the jump shot changes everytime. It’s like playing a casino within a casino. You never know what type of speed animation you’re going to get.

I’ve been playing 2k since Allen Iverson was on the cover for Dreamcast. With that being said it’s always been fun for me, I’ve also always had issues out of the game. Instead of expecting the game to be the smooth simulator that we all crave, I tend to learn the defects and play them to my advantage. I’ve never seen nor have I expected anything different. Even with better graphics and cool animations the problems still exist, but they also existed from day one. Figuring out that underlying aspect of the game and understanding that it’s flawed takes away the frustration of what should happen versus what actually happens. You have to play against your opponent, latency, and the game’s engine. That’s what it’s always been. I’ll even go as far as to say I wouldn’t have an extra edge against opponents if the games operating system was flawless. 🤷🏽♂️
I stopped playing when they updated the user terms of service. But, like a lot of people already mentioned, the shooting being so bad is what killed it for me. Always 1 step forward and 20 steps back. They just don't know when to leave 💩 alone.
