    Cedar fair is making a HUGE mistake by neglecting this park. It’s the only theme park in Michigan, and living in Michigan myself I know most people just don’t go to theme parks because of how bad this one is. My family always goes to cedar point instead even though that’s over 4 hours away just because it’s so so much better. Michigans adventure has loads of space for new attractions and a really beautiful location if they were to keep it up and running. It’s just too bad.

    As a Michigander, it truly breaks my heart that MA is so bad. Timbers is worth the trip alone, but the rest of the park just isn't great. The water park is by far the biggest draw. This park has so much potential, but this is the abused and neglected child of Cedar Fair. I hope one day Michigan either gets another amusement park, or MA finally gets the attention it needs.

    If this park wasn't neglected it would have so much potential, infact they had a Morgan Hypercoaster planned but Cedar Fair canceled it right after they bought it. And the reason for lack of shade is that the park use to have alot of it however it was destroyed when a tornado hit and knocked all the trees down

    If Cedar Fair doesn’t get their act together with Michigan’s Adventure, then they will be forced to sell the park to another major amusement park chain to improve park operations as Michigan’s Adventure looks forward to their better and brighter future for the park itself with new rides and roller coasters.

      They added Camp Snoopy only a a couple years ago, repainted in the off-season, and re-tracked Wolverine Wildcat. I don’t think they’re planning to neglect it, they’re just not improving it they way the enthusiasts want them to. It still needs more attention so it’s clear it’s not a high priority, but they’re not ignoring it. They seem to be focused on families over thrills because they have a major thrill park only a few hours away. That said, one more solid thrill ride would be a solid addition.

    One reason I hear them say this park is neglected so much is because of how it's right in the middle of nowhere, but that's not entirely true. It's only around four hours away from Six Flags Great America, Indiana Beach, and Cedar Point, and if they were to invest more into this park, travelers would be willing to drive out of the way for this. Not only that, but there is a ferry service that takes guests directly to Muskegon from Milwaukee. Seeing how that boat ride is only two hours long, you can argue that Milwaukee is the closest big city to this park.

    • @ThemeParkAvenue
      @ThemeParkAvenue  Год назад +2

      The park isn’t necessarily in a huge travel hub, but there are plenty of places that are a hike to get to but still see several visitors. An example is Yellowstone National Park, which is not easy to get to. MA certainly doesn’t appeal to everyone like Yellowstone, but some investments could change things for the park.

    • @me-myself-i787
      @me-myself-i787 Год назад

      Milwaukee may be two hours away from Michigan's Adventure, but it's only 47 minutes away from Six Flags Great America, which is a much better park.
      If Cedar Fair invested a ton of money into Michigan's Adventure to help it catch up with Six Flags Great America, Six Flags Great America could increase their own investment to stay ahead of Michigan's Adventure. Six Flags wouldn't even need to spend as much as Cedar Fair would, because Great America is already so much better than Michigan's Adventure. And even if Michigan's Adventure caught up with Six Flags Great America, people would still go to Six Flags Great America because it's an hour closer.

    In defense of my home park:
    You neglect to mention that you were here on opening weekend. Opening weekends have spotty operations and several maintenance issues at all parks. The machines are just starting to be run again all day after hibernating all winter and most of the employess are in training. Even Cedar Point and Kings Island have these issues on opening weekend.
    Now to be honest, operations at Michigan's Adventure never reach the level of excellence you see at Kings Island. Not even close.
    However if my only visit to the park was opening weekend and Memorial Weekend I probably would have expected some of that going into it.
    Also I believe we are still waiting for Philadelphia Toboggan Company to complete refurbishment on the Blue train that usually runs on Shivering Timbers. I was there for Passholder Preview Day and Timbers Fest and I haven't seen the Blue train yet this year. The line usually moves much faster. I rode it 86 times last year and I think i only waited 30 minutes maybe 3 to 5 times max.
    For someone that loves wooden coasters, this place is amazing. Shivering Timbers is elite. Wolverine Wildcat is on par with Blue Streak. Zach's Zoomer is comparable to Woodstock Express at KI with a little less air and a little more laterals.
    The waterpark is the biggest draw so even on busy weekends Shivering Timbers and Wolverine Wildcat rarely have much of a wait during the hours the waterslides are open.
    On the Saturday of Labor Day weekend last year I rode every supporting coaster once and Shivering Timbers 21 times. Keep in mind that I did not have a Fast Pass and the park has short hours.
    So operations are typically a little better than what you saw at Timbers Fest.

    I have frequented this park since it was deer park. To be fair it was not built by cedar fair and they have made many improvements over the years. the smell is due to the large fish population in the lake and its many waterways that encompass a large portion of the original park. not many parks you can go to that you will see 2lb sunfish and 10lb bass from the boardwalk daily. When I was younger there were massive schools of catfish that swarmed the feeder stations but a bad winter killed many of them off. I am aware this is a review of theme parks but the place has its own charm that should not be dismissed even though it is like taking a trip back in time.

    As a former senior employee of Cedar Fair, I'll tell you what Michigan Adventure is to the company. By ownership of Michigan Adventure by Cedar Fair it ensures that no outside competition can buy the park expand it and compete with cedar point and kings island. This also works as a deterrent against competition buying and clearing land which at this point is hard enough to come by for starters and build a park from scratch knowing you're gonna be surrounded by cedar fair parks west and south that can adjust their park in Michigan to compete and hedge against whatever is built by whomever

    We definitely need a Gordon Ramsay, Robert Irvine, or a Jon Taffer for the amusement Park business because Cedar Fair would need help from a Theme park experts and investors to solve the problem on why their not making enough money. having issues. Its not that the attractions is bringing in the audience. It could be the managing issues. So if I was a Theme Park expert, i would not only bring ride operators, I would also bring a bus full of other experts a Chef, possibly a Bartender, a waitress, a security guard, a contributor, a Ticket agent, a landscaper/gardener, and a lifeguard. It's gonna take alot of experts and investors because theme parks are huge. So I'll bring in coaster enthusiast to do recon like you, Taylor, Ryan, Robb Alvory, Kenny Ryman, and everyone else to walk all around parks to give out your experience. All of that.

Me and my daughter enjoy it a lot. Low lines can ride everything and its cheap! $100 season pass that includes parking. No its not cedar point or six flags. But it does work for the right group. That being said they could add a few more favorable rides, add more features throught the park. Clean the lake etc. i think with cedar point being so close and ever michigander literally goes to florida every year to vacation and visit parks, they kinda just use this park to target the younger kids. I do wish they would do something with it as its super close to home. But it cant beat places like universal studios or sox flags cedar point etc.

    So many people say cedar fair neglects this place, but the only thing they neglect is new rides.
    Every year there is usually at least one repaint, and some retracking. Wolverine wildcat has received a ton of titan track the past few years.

Bc rmc is cheap and smooth, it is still fairly new, they don’t have to pay for a new ride bc it’s relocated, and most importantly, it could change the annoying horseshoe layout into a circle. • @ericburton5163
    @ericburton5163 Год назад

    Part of the problem is that Cedar Fair knows that Michigan's Adventure has its niche and it doesn't feel the need to change that. I've never been even though I live in Michigan (we go to Cedar Point) but everyone I know that goes are families who are vacationing "Up North" for like a week or long weekend, and spend a day at the park (and most people I know describe it as a water park with other rides). Cedar Fair doesn't care that it's the worst park because they would rather coaster/ride people go to Cedar Point or Kings Island (Cedar Point is closer to metro Detroit than Michigan's Adventure is).
    I think they would have to spend massively to get it to become a day park for Chicago (it's actually pretty equal distance to the park from Detroit or Chicago) to compete against Six Flags (with Six Flags being so much closer). I know that the Grand Rapids region is growing alot (well for the Midwest) so maybe that will help drive Michigan's Adventure to become more a traditional amuesment park rather than a rather large family water park / amuesement park combo.

    I live 10 minutes from Michigan Adventure. It is crappy as far as concessions go. Most people just tail gate lunch in a cooler or leave the park and have dinner then come back. The food is truly disgusting. The 2 excellent coasters thunder hawk and Timbers are usually broken down. Mad Mouse takes too long of a wait to make it worth it. Most of the rides are constantly down, old and most thrill rides aren’t even running. Season tickets are around $89 right now.

    Everything is way too expensive and the lines on hot days are ridiculous. They no longer have carnival games and only take cash. Also half of the rides are always down. It gets upsetting when your waiting an hour for a ride and people keep cutting due to the stupid fast pass which makes the wait for normal people and kids longer.
