The battery will charge while connected to USB (slowly) but you can't use the GPS at the same time.

Hello from Japan. Sorry if I missed an answer to this situation in your videos: I am looking for a hand-held GPS unit for driving in Japan and in the US,: street routes, street addresses, etc. (Not for hiking: I use paper maps and a compass for that ; ). Would you recommend the Montana, or some other model? Thank you for your time and patience!

    Hi guys.
I bought a 610 which stopped working within 12 months.
It was replaced with a 2nd HAND, USED UNIT, apparantly refurbished.
Within 30 months the on/off button rotted out/disintegrated.
Garmin want more money to give me another unit, offering NO REPAIR.
BE ADVISED - Garmin have POOR AFTER SALE SERVICE.
