First off, thanks for providing such fantastic quality productions and information. I’m interested to know if microwave activity occurs around NSW? From most of what I can see on you channel, it’s mostly vic and QLD. Cheers :)
No DD Mode with the Ic-705 You get DD Mode with the Ic-9700 on 23cm and I have Transverters for my Ic-7300 28Mhz to 144Mhz, 28Mhz to 222Mhz and 28Mhz to 440Mhz.
Thanks for the video Andrew. I ordered one of these. I have a quick question for you. I have the Yaesu ft-818. How will I engage the ptt on the unit as I noted you did so with the 3.5mm jack off the 705.
Hi Kevin. I too have an 818. Have a look at page 15 in the FT-818 manual. You'll find a pin marked TX Ground on the 8 pin DIN ACC jack. When you TX that pin goes low which will engage the transverter. I've added a picture on the bottom of the blog post. 3fs.net.au/ic-705/1296-on-the-ic-705/ Cheers Andrew
Again great video. Tnx. 73!
Thanks Adam :)
Interesting idea for a portable transverter. Very fine video :)
Glad you liked it!

Excellent video Andrew, as always, John VK2ATU.
Thanks John. Appreciate the comment. They take a while to make.
Enjoyed your video and some great tips, Andrew. Have acquired a transverter from SG-Labs so hope to be portable 1296 soon. Cheers Mark VK3PI
Hi Mark. Look forward to hearing you up on 1296.1 There are quite a few there these days thanks to the SG Lab transverters and the IC-9700.
You also had the schematic that I could build one by any chance is this K0BAN 73 for now

Nice build. How did you fix the transverter to the inside of the diecast box ?
Lucky it just fits with a little bit of room for the connectors
@@VK3FS I mean, how did you mechanically fix it ie. make it stay in place ? I can't see any brackets. Did you use glue ?
Great video if I had an icom in 705 I might consider it but if I even want Play on 1296 I need to do the upgrade
You should consider the upgrade anyway Tom ;)
@@VK3FS I intend on doing at one of these days Maybe not this year or next but in the future

@@VK3FS thanks so much!
