- I seriously can't believe I didn't know this mod series existed before just a week ago! Rome Era Chapters is an absolutely amazing mod series in the making, aiming to provide all of the most important periods of Roman history in one and the same game, and one and the same mod series. Rome Era Chapters does something incredibly smart - it takes the little-used campaign map from The Last Roman (and the other campaigns), and completely revamps those campaigns, taking us from Rome's early beginnings in Vae Victis, to the rise of the new Holy Romans in the middle ages. This is something of a dream come true, especially considering how fun it is to play!

If it wasn’t for Attila’s horrible optimization. It could easily have been the best historical total war to date. In conjunction with the modding community. We have age of Charlemagne, medieval 1212, now this ??

@@pascalbourelier3463 totally forgot about that one ! Last heard it’s either getting a campaign or already has one. Which is wild, given how much value and content these modders provide, alongside their continued support and evolution of their work. Just amazes me
CA doesn't like modders because they think it cuts into their bottomline, which clearly isn't true because paradox's pro-mod mindset has only gained them money.
Its unfortunate that CA locks down modding capabilities and refuses to fix broken games, yet they also refuse to give us new titles to replace them which makes the aforementioned hostility fruitless.
Since release, Atilla was almost immediately my favorite total war game. And with literally a dozen if not more total conversion mods its almost unlimited in content

@@KvltKommandothe Europa perdita/fall of the eagles overhaul and medieval kingdoms 1212 are my favorites. Ancient empires has so much potential but I feel like it’s still needs some more work before I can call it great
Edit: there’s also one called fireforge empires. It’s set in the late Roman Empire and is gonna release in January I think. Its looking pretty good from what I have seen so far
1212ad is a simply amazing mod. Quite literally medieval 3 without there being an official game.

Guess the copyright infringement on Vae Victis made him take the mod down off his workshop page because its not there atm, or steam deleted it. A few of his mods say "EMPTY FILE-ANNOUNCEMENT". Kind of lame, hope they let him put it back up soon.

idk, some days I prefer the long grindy battles of rome 2 and its straightforward campaign. Attila has units rout too quickly in my opinion.
Attila clearly is superior in graphics and mods, and it has a set of very great campaigns, but some days rome 2 is just more enjoyable.
Its kind of like empire vs napoleon, they have qualities the other lacks which leads to both being fun in their own way.

I can't remember if it was for Rome 1 or 2 but I swear I played a Mod years ago that used a Europe focused overhaul map and was set in the early republic period...can't remember the name though (I wanna say Sol Invictus or something) since it has been so long. Regardless this looks cool since you can switch eras all in the same mod. I may have to give it a look.

I would love a 11th century, 1066 era mod for AoC. Have all the Frankish duchies as separate factions but vassals of the French crown, a burgeoning but fractured HRE relatively unstable England and all the independent Italian communes.
I wish my Attila actually ran well. I’ll have to try again for some of these. I want to learn more base game mechanics too, I didn’t play much of it

@@Chaos_Dave98 I have an I9 12900H with rtx 3080 and 2x16gb ddr5 ram and with me it runs fine with settings in quality and even some on the highest settings v-sync on distortion effects on. I run the game on 78fps average so not too bad. But this mod to install confuses me. I'm playing age off Justinian now as Corduba (Roman faction in Iberia)

@@RigobertosTacoShop This already exists. There is a mod where you can play CK3 and all battles boot up attila, with the armies matching the CK3 general armies.

Chapter1 seems to have been taken off Steam Workshop...
The older titels were mod friendly when it comes to total conversions... I am a little bit sad that the newer titels are not as near as mod friendly.
Last time I played Age of Vikings, civil wars didnt work.

This mod looks amazing! When you play these, do you select one campaign mod at a time? Or do they all work as one? I subscribed to all of them and my games crashes every time I try to play with them all on

Nice, i see they are working on this chapters, i saw them at the start, when you could play only with mods from Steam workshop, after that something didn't really worked, although I hope they would continue to polish this mods and finish them, and also to be able to be all parts through workshop to be easier to install
Pretty sure these mods have had a lot of issues with taking content from other mods. Some of the modders that I have collaborated with have had to report these mods several times.
From what I’ve heard there’s been permission given. Is there a reason why the modders you’ve spoken to wouldn’t let another modder borrow their stuff?
@@AndysTake I think it’s mostly cause he didn’t ask, and acted “entitled” to use it, based on the idea that the community should share everything. I think they worked out some compromise or workaround at some point, but one of the modders contacted me just yesterday saying there are new issues. I respectfully declined to assist in reporting this time, cause it has happened so many times that it’s a losing battle.

@@pizzaman6784 I wouldn't call it a loosing battle but rather a winning battle, it's all for the better if the things you spent time to do are diffused even more thoroughly thanks to peripheral mods!

@@pascalbourelier3463 it is still considered good etiquette to ask for permissions before integrating the work of others in your own mod. More often than not sadly, such cases aren't the result of the author forgetting to ask for it (these situations will generally resolve quickly between the parties, usually without any love lost), but because the author never felt like asking and believes he is "entitled" to it for whatever reason. And this is where it gets ugly

I always activate TW mods in AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\...\scripts but you definitely need Last Roman, the map is from dlc

Why is it that modders will always do better than the people with the money in the long term? I remember when I played the Beta version of BOTET in MTW2 and just being amazed at how each faction was unique, even the different provinces of the Empire, how there were random spawns of Beastmen in the forest and how it was a pain to fight the Vampire Counts given that they fight literally to the (un)death. IMO Attila is underrated for a number of reasons, but it is horribly optimized, and the fact that CA does not care enough about its product to fix that from their end is jarring. RN I can't play WH3 without some QoL mods, and I just hope modding continues kicking ass for this game series.

@akdeles5435 you don't need mod launcher for any TW game not just Attila : there is actually a much better method to add mods in \AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Attila\scripts

I really recommend you to not support the creator of this series (Rome Era Chapters). This guy usually tooks without any permissions the work from other modders and when he is asked to remove what he took without permission he just acts like a child. Keep in mind that he constantly uses without permission the assets created by the Rome 2 HD team and the creators (Celticus and Kagarino) had to reclaim to the Steam Workshop about this situation. That is the reason why he always upload empty files.
No he doesn’t. Like many mods, he makes his mod compatible with other mods, which must then be downloaded by themselves like any other mod. But the assets are not taken/stolen and integrated into his mod files. Neither was the last file, and yet the Rome 2 HD team reported his mod for no reason. For other things like assets from Ancient Empires, he has permission.
@AndysTake No. he decided to upload empty files because it's a cheap trick to avoid any copyright reclamation with Steam and CA (and I would like to remind you that Steam already erased this mods due to this issue and ironically the guy keeps using the models from the R2HD team shamelessly). You can ask by yourself to the creators of those assets how "kind and honest" it's RedHornet. Also, I recommend you to check TW Modder's Agora discord server about this issue and believe me, all modders there reproach this kind of attitude and even OtherTom from CA considered that this situation should have leaded to erase all this mods.
And no, if you take other modders assets without permission, you're asked to removed them, your reaction it's attack the creators of the mods and you keep doing the same using those assets, maybe you are more like parasite instead of a good modder. Don't tell me that he was "unjustly" accused when he it's just a recidivist, or then explain me why he is using Sol Invictus assets (released the past year) even if this situation started back in 2021?
Modding Total War it's not exactly and easy task. It's takes a lot of time and effort by modders that really put their dedication to this hobby and. It's a shame that a modder like this tries too hard to play the victim role, when he is just opportunist and dishonest person.

Creative Assembly and our team worked together to inform this dude that once he tried to make money off of these assets it was over, he had no permission to use these things. Asked to remove the assets and he refused. A real show of character for this youtuber to support theft in this way.

Until there's a mod that adds proper unit collision ( I know it's basically impossible with this engine, chill) TW games will fall short to me. Medieval 2 feels more real than this game despite ancient visuals.
Yeah just searched up a vid of unit collisions of ME2 and I'll take the great looking graphics and gameplay of RII and Atilla over the way units interact when you move them in front of one another. Negligible during actual gameplay imo.
UH OH. You know this guy who makes the mod has a huge negative reputation in the modding community right? He steals peoples work without permission.
I think there was an issue where he used a mod once without permission, and then never did it again and learnt from that mistake.
