    Excellent breakdown Hiram! You've come a long way to how you explain operation (not the reading of the paper part, I mean your interpretation through experience 😁😉), the warnings, how in depth with detail you go into. Absolutely awesome! 👏🏻👍🏻
    I'm behind on the vids with the amount of work I'm doing, but I try to at least listen in the background. It's just great to see you back at it! 😁😊

      I agree, the new ones are also difficult to read.
      When you replace them keep them in order according the part numbers and replace them one by one.

    It's mid January 2023 and those conducter plates are still out of stock at Ford and my suppliers.I have no choice but use an aftermarket part to correct the output speed sensor fault when hot.My Ford dealer says they have 500 6r80's needing a conductor plate and won't use aftermarket because they have been getting come-backs. Been a Trans rebuilder for 44 years and getting tired of keeping up with the latest units...will be happy when I retire..lots of relieved stress!

    Hi Hiram, Do you recommend to invert the thermostatic valve with the ones with the spring? So valve first then the spring which will press on the valve body. Is my understanding correct? I would like to do that next time I replace the transmission oil and pull down my valve body. Thanks for you video!

    • @AutomaticTransmission

      Yes. I do exactly that on all my rebuilds also on the ones I replace the lead frame (conductor plate).

    Please advise I have 1-2 and 2-1 harsh shifts with 6r80, replaced fluid and filter, recalibrated PCM as advised by Ford, but the issue did not gone. The transmission is only 50k miles and the oil came out was pretty dark (but without any metal shavings). What should I look for? Valve body? Solenoids?

    • @Emjae20

    • @georgestepanov4789
      @georgestepanov4789 Год назад

      @@Emjae20 Unfortunately not. I ordered new complete Ford valvebody with solenoids and replaced it (it also comes with new leadframe), my ride became smoother, but I still have 1-2 and 2-1 harsh shifts. I just gave up on that. Almost 11k km passed, and it's at least not getting worse.

    Hi! What would be the cause 6r80 reverse not functioning? but drive is ok

    • @AutomaticTransmission
      @AutomaticTransmission  2 месяца назад

      It's not common for a 6R80 to not have reverse. But if you have issues with third gear could be mechanical problem with that clutch pack. You'll also have a bump on downshift. If that's okay then it would be that your low reverse clutches are burned out. I've seen those with excessive wear but not completely burned out.
      In other words your reverse issues are internal to the transmission.

    Kerosene-based lube is better than anything else I've found for cutting aluminum. Tap-magic-aluminum (kerosene plus some additives) is amazing, but even pure kerosene will do a better job than most cutting fluids formulated for steel. You won't get a built-up-edge of aluminum sticking to the reamer like you will with other lubes.

    If you change the Solenoid, how to know the difference, they are all the same, only change one that is of a different color

    • @AutomaticTransmission
      @AutomaticTransmission  3 года назад

      I explained that on the video, the snout color is different and you have to pay close attention to the band number etched on the solenoid. That's the solenoid flow rate and it's programed into the computer. If you mix up solenoid with a different band number you will create Shifting Issues.

    as a master transmission rebuilder myself you started off real good and impressive. cause i myself do all the same things. Master/banner kit, if it has molded rubber pistons those too, bushing kit, washer kit, filter, transgo shift kit, reman pro-torque converter, electronics etc. myself i prefer borg-warner or exedes clutches. WHAT i wasn't impressed is you choice of overhaul kit! You put all this good time and effort into rebuilding this transmission or any transmission and you end up using an aftermarket overhaul kit which is junk! Originally that companies name was MGW, they changed it for a reason....... every job i do get an OEM kit Trans-Tec which IS OEM for aftermarket, if not in stock i WILL wait for it to come in from there main warehouse in Ohio from Transtar. Sorry to rain on your parade but the truth and facts must be told. Neal AKA Pwrshifter

    Hi Hiram, need your attention on this issue. Please help.
    I watched your old video on rebuilding the bmxa tranny.
    I used to own a 01 civic lx auto( everything stock) and i used to go up to 170-180kmph on hwys, there was no issues.
    Then i upgraded to a 05 civic lx auto( stock engine, tranny, suspension with 130,000 original km) and it just stop accelerating at 140kmph.
    I m never able to take it above 140kmph.
    I checked everythig inside the engine bay, replaced a lot of solenoids, gaskets, filters, fluids etc but i still have this max speed issue.
    I checked the speed-gear ratios online and found that, 1st gear 40kmph, 2nd gear 80kmph, 3rd gear 160kmph and 4th is the final drive.
    No CEL on dash.
    I believe there is something wrong with the tranny since it works fine till 3rd gear and not shifting into 4th.
    I remember the max i could do on the hwy was less than 150kmph and that might explains the 3rd gear.
    I took it to a honda dealership for diagnostic test, and even they said, the car hesitates on uphill and seems like not shifting from 3rd to 4th.
    Also if i accelerate hard, sometimes i get a burning rubber kinda smell into interior.
    Repairs i did.
    New spark plugs
    New shift solenoid (not the one underneath the linear solenoid, the one on top of the tranny, next to motor)
    Linear solenoid
    New cat converter
    Cleaned egr nd new gasket
    New idle air controller
    New air filter and intake
    New tranny oil and engine oil
    Cleaned throttle body
    Please help.
    Thanks

      Have someone with an oscilloscope check your cam/crank correlation, I had a civic once that had a similar issue and it was one tooth off on the cam gear, the issue started after a timing belt replacement.

    • @abin2512
      @abin2512 3 года назад

      @@AutomaticTransmission thank you so much for the reply . I will try that and let you know.
      I replaced my transmission recently with a junkyard one with "not bad" milege, but i still have this "hesitation" problem.
      Also something else i hv noticed recently that my MAP sensor output voltage is "invalid". I got this bluetooth OBD reader connected which reads a lot of values like speed, O2 sensor voltage, MAF etc... and the MAP value was showing error.
      So my friend advised that i shud get a new MAP sensor because it might be faulty nd maybe throwing wrong values to ECU and messing up the combustion. Since throttle body, idle air controller nd MAP sensor looks like a single unit, i was thinking about replacing whole throttle body as well.
      Thanks again for the advise.

    Good vid. My lead frame gave me the "transmission range sensor intermittent", code. 125k on the tranny, this will be its 4th fluid and filter change since it rolled off the assembly line. I figured, if I'm changing the lead frame, might as well drop the transco 6r80 gen 2 shift kit in it and turn my thermal valve (green body with a spring attached) upside down for that cool ride mr. Bandit.

    Those needle bearings are a stupid idea anyway, at least on the input shaft. Can't speak much for the rest of them throughout the box. I just think they're an extra thing to have the potential to cause catastrophic damage rather than localised damage just by the sheer number of loose components alone.
    Had a 2016 Ranger with the 6R80 just this week where I found pieces of the input needle bearing in the chewed up TC. The weird thing is, the box that came out had a bushing, not an empty needle race like I was expecting.
    I can only deduce that the input shaft needle bearing migrated into the TC, caused a wobble or vibration I suppose because you know, no bearing - they've had the box swapped out for a second hand (later?) one which had a bushing thinking the box was the issue when it was the bearing remnants from the first box that set the clock ticking on the TC's demise.
