    I love Kinescopes! I have oh so many on dvd and a few on 16mm.
    Please, please my friend, do more of these. The dramas and comedies of the 1950s early 60s (many of which were live), was tv at its best. In a few years you had a Martian living in the suburbs. Then, a witch living in the suburbs. Next, a genie, and also a talking horse! We also had two families of monsters, and an idiot who joins the marines and stays in basic training for four years!
    We had the exploits of a boy and his dolphin, the exploits of a boy and his bear, a car which is the reincarnation of a man’s mother, six people stuck on an island, a man living in the suburbs who fights crime dressed as a bat, a man living in the suburbs who fights crime dressed as a hornet....
    So please, find and restore more of those great programs of the past, like Playhouse 90, Suspense, Lights Out, and Tales of Tomorrow.

    Love that this contains a "good" version of the legendary Westinghouse commercial with the electric-door refrigerator that went so spectacularly wrong on a different episode.

    When I was a kid I thought that with every crime committed where a life was taken they would all be brainstorming trying to solve it. All of the shows show the truth. But the most shocking part of the show is when James turned down a cigarette. I almost feinted.must have been the method. Great print and it’s wonderful to see James and that lead actress.

    Ah, back in the good old days, when there were shows like this where the emphasis was on proving the wrongly accused were innocent...instead of now, where the big fear in society is that some guilty person might go free! Quite the shift.

      M. M. Thanks! I try to clean up the sound as best as I can. Some are better than others. Unfortunately the state of the art allows me to do more with the motion restoration than I can with the audio. Glad to know people notice the clean-up on the audio too.

      NBNTelevision I really like the audio restoration too! Sure it's hissy, but so many releases of old programs reduce the hiss by either cutting the treble or using noise reduction tools (or both) that all the high end frequencies are lost. It's easy to forget how high quality these recordings were for the time.

    Although videotape doesn't look as beautiful as film it does look extremely vivid and realistic. This could have been shot ten minutes ago. In no small part due to the restoration job of course.

    Thanks so much for these...LOVE watching these old shows back when everything done was LIVE...Whatta Concept...lol...they should do it again, and yes they're doing it again now with Musicals, but they should do Dramas'...Far more appealing to a Wider Audience... Thanks Again!

      I had in mind a comparison of either a Playhouse 90 or Studio One episode with Shatner playing the son of the defense counsel. That was a spectacular plot and wonderful acting. I have not even watched television in 20 plus years when I can enjoy gems like Studio One and Playhouse 90. I agree with most that even the commercials are entertaining (if not silly/simple by today's standards).

    • @nbntelevision1
      @nbntelevision1  3 года назад +1

      @@SoBe80s. This was included as it was an appearance by James Dean, also as an example of the off-season shows of Studio One. Remember, there was no such thing as reruns in the days of live television. The network had to air something.

      @@nbntelevision1 I am most appreciative that this and all the Studio One videos are provided to us as a portal to the past! I find it fascinating to see so many young, now famous actors in this nascent media. Whereas I skip commercials entirely in contemporary television, like most who commented, even these early TV commercials were a joy to watch!
