On the afternoon of March 29th, 2024, I had just crossed the Peace Arch Border into the US to start my 3-day railfanning trip to Oregon's Willamette Valley to film some amazing crossings. Spending the remaining sunlight available that afternoon, I ended up filming two crossings on the BNSF Bellingham Sub. Arriving at this crossing with nearly an hour to spare, this loaded BNSF coal train bound for Roberts Bank in Delta, BC came rolling through with the typical BNSF GE consist, with one of the few BNSF AC44C4M rebuilds in the consist too.
This crossing is quite a nice one. It is a late 1970s or early 1980s double mast Safetran cantilever install from the BN. Originally, the gates may have been Safetran EM gates, which were replaced with the current US&S Model 95 gates in the late 1990s or 2000s. The original WCH mechanical bell lasted until between 2019 and 2022, when it was replaced with the current GS Type 3 E-Bell. Despite those changes, the classic Safetran 12" incandescents and cantilevers remain.
