In my research, I came across this little gem. It's pretty cool, works amazingly well and I thought it was worth sharing with you all. Thanks for watching and don't forget to give me a thumbs up (or down) and a comment!
Very nice set up. I can't stress enough that it's absolutely awesome that you're showing us how to tutorials with items that EVERYONE pretty much has lying around their homes or can access easily without breaking the bank!!! Thanks James for another great video!!!!!
Thank you so much and I'm glad that you liked it. Common items are so much more useful than expensive store bought ones. Especially the kind that you can make yourself yourself over and over again if needed.
I made these back In the early 80’s when I was a teen ..out in the wilderness everyday.. those were great times back then before actors hit hosts on award shows . Thanks now I’m going to make some of them for my friends
Great show . Your refreshing because you give people just starting out things that are easy and just laying around the house. I got into tin can art through a old book I found in a advertisement in the back of old Fur- Fish & Game magazine.
this video is full of tips and information. great stove stand setup, never knew about the salt trick, and simply putting the marks on the bottle is extremely smart
Another awesome video. I personally have a "catfood" stove and use an aluminum can windscreen, but this is an incredible alternative. Also love the tip about adding salt to the fuel. Did not know that and will be keeping that in mind.
Another awesome hack I'll half to try it when I get a trangia alcohol burner I can never get enough of your simple but effective and awesome hacks no one else does these hacks except you at least that I can find on RUclips that's why I like your channel God bless my friend
Your channel is fantastic. I've been involved with self-reliance from the 1970s and your channel is the real deal. People will save a ton of money and perfrom better by following your methods. I wish you were my survival instructor when I was in the Army.... but, hey, you weren't born yet, so I forgive you. Best to you.
Another great project James! Love your imagination! Shows once again it doesn’t take a ton of money to equip yourself. Just common everyday items and imagination. Great job!
Due to the cold, dry winds we've had here in NC recently we can't even make a fire. Ironically it's really cold, so I'm glad that I have a Heater Buddy.
We love these DYI videos. They are great projects that the kids can do with some supervision and have some useable gear when they're done. If it gets lost or accidentally broken no big deal. Most of them are careful with there gear and are building up a collection of different types of things thanks to your channel. God bless and stay safe.
Thanks for sharing this great idea. I adapted it for my micro alcohol stove using a smaller tin can. Also, I place packing tape over my Sharpie writing on the plastic bottles. It preserves the ink much longer.
I really like this little stove James, and I thank you for the tip on changing the composition of the fire by adding salt, what a great tip. Maranatha, God bless, and have a great week Nicole
This is great! Another project that's like an upgrade to something I learned to make in scouts, only we would wind up strips of cardboard to fit just inside the base and saturate it with a mixture of olive oil and paraffin. That was so long ago that I honestly forgot about it until I watched this video. I even made a big one out of a #10 can once. People need to know about this stuff and alternative materials and fuels because hey, you never know. Thanks for sharing this stuff, it helps people to be better prepared and self sufficient. Kudos
Awesome, as always! I wanted to say, you can cover your alcohol bottle with clear packing tape to keep the sharpie from rubbing off. God bless sir, and stay safe!
Although I'm more of an old school type of person, I have to admit your little gadgets with alcohol etc are very interesting! I think I've told you that before lol . Anyway, great video. I always look forward to seeing them
I always enjoy watching you create usefull items from easily obtainable common objects. This is a great idea to use with an alcohol stove. I for one would lke to see how you make the alcohol stove (although as you stated there are many videos out there on how to do this). Hopefully, you get several other requests for this. Another awesome idea as always!
Love it James! I'll be trying this. I made a similar type for twig burning and it works too. Nice that you mentioned where the original idea came from too.
Solid and simple. Had to keep your Sharpie from washing off your alcohol bottle once you draw it on there or right on there what you want take some clear packing tape and go around your bottle that way it won't wash off that way
Thank you for watching. However, I would caution you against using HEET in your stove as it has a lot of toxic chemicals meant to clean out fuel lines.
Attaboy James yet another tool for the survival box. Thanks for the video bud have a great day and stay safe and keep your powder dry! I've got a short still can that chicken came in that I've been going to try doing the same thing. I'll let you know how good it works.
A great design and you can leave the stove inside. If you make two, cut the supports so they interlock with each other making a compact "single can" storage shape.
@@WayPointSurvival, stuck working indoors today and re-watching the hobo series. Love it. Educational and entertaining. Hope you and the family are well. Will see you soon.
Nice thing about the can is that it helps keep cold air off the stove in the winter. Perhaps cutting a piece of carbon felt and placing in the bottom of the can to help insulate the stove from the cold bottom? Spilling a little alcohol between the stove and can wall and lighting that too will help heat the stove up a bit faster if you light it. What did you do about the plastic can lining? Did you do a preburn to remove it?
Believe it or not you can find a lot things similar to this at Goodwill outlet stores. I have found the Stanley 2 Cup cookset minus the cups. I have found Snow Peak Titanium cups and cookware. I have found 2 Jet Boil flash stoves, only thing wrong was that the plastic bowls were missing. Be surprised what people toss out.
Great project James, thanks for sharing, adding salt is a great idea also. Have you ever used hand sanitizer gels for fuel, as they are quite inexpensive and readily available now, many seem to be around 70% alcohol and they are often available in compact sizes for the trail.
Hi. I have used hand sanitizer and it can work well. Just check the % alcohol content as they can vary a bit. I have only used it in a gel fuel dish/tray though and wouldn’t put it in a alcohol burner such as the one James showed in this hack as I would think the residue left could start to block the jets (plus most sanitizer is not liquid enough anyway)
In my research, I came across this little gem. It's pretty cool, works amazingly well and I thought it was worth sharing with you all. Thanks for watching and don't forget to give me a thumbs up (or down) and a comment!
I learn a lot from watching your videos. Check out the DYI pot stand I made for my alcohol stove. You inspired me to make my own.
Hi James! That grin you were sporting after trying to blow out the flame says everything about your enthusiasm for this nice little DIY burner.
Indeed. I think this is a really neat idea idea, I was glad to be able to share it.
I would bet I'm not the only one that would love a video on you making an alcohol stove. Please please please
Thanks, I am considering it!

Excellent idea for wind proofing alcohol burner. I love my FF-cam stove. FYI different salts make different colors.... try MSG,- Epsom salts, ect
Thank you for watching and for the tips on the various salts!

I think that is a cool concept. The pop can burner would be interesting to see.
Thank you for watching! I'll have to see how many requests I get for it.
Wow! It *IS* amazingly wind proof! I am going to make this and a couple of your hobo stoves etc.
I'll be darn , that is so cool , great little stove , thanks for the demo and share , you stay safe , God Bless , till next time

For your bottle you could put clear packing tape over your writing and that might help protect it from washing away from the alcohol.
Yes, that's a great idea!

Amazing windproof stove, Thank you. And I would like to see a video on the burner,
Thank you so much. I may indeed do a video on the alcohol stove.

That's cool I've made the penny stoves before the pot holder is something new works great Jim thanks
Yes, I also thought it was a really neat addition. Thanks for watching!
I 💖 my alcohol stove. Cool and great idea about using a pinch of salt to make the flame visible ! ( daytime)
Thanks so very much, glad you liked it!
Love it James! I'll be trying this. I made a similar type for twig burning and it works too. Nice that you mentioned where the original idea came from too.
Thank you so much!
Definitely show us how to make one! Love all the creative stuff you make that actually works! 👌🏻
Thank you so much!
Solid and simple. Had to keep your Sharpie from washing off your alcohol bottle once you draw it on there or right on there what you want take some clear packing tape and go around your bottle that way it won't wash off that way
Good idea, thank you for watching!
I use a small tuna can and a Blue Hills stove to hold my homemade alcohol burner. I use denatured alcohol or HEET or grain alcohol as fuel
Thank you for watching. However, I would caution you against using HEET in your stove as it has a lot of toxic chemicals meant to clean out fuel lines.
Excellent job once again. Thank you! Love and blessings!
Thanks!
Smart idea!
Thanks!
Neat definitely try making one a little bit bigger
Very good. I have another variation that I hope to be showing soon that's a wood burner.

Awesome and epic video as always thank you so much for making it ❤️👍
Thanks, and you're welcome!
Two cans of Fosters lager will make a very large alcohol stove. The stand will be made from the larger of the peach cans. I have my next project.
I use a tuna can with the bottom cut out and a computer fan grill that is bolted on. It is a pot stand and windscreen.
Excellent, thanks for watching!
again , this is incredible

Impressive James. Looks like a fun project. Guess I'll be eating soup soon lol.
Thank you so much!
A Sharpie PRO (black and yellow marker body color) will resist the alcohol for your oz measurements.
Thanks for the tip, I'll have to pick one up!

What did you do about the plastic can lining?
Did you do a preburn to remove it?
Yes. Those would definitely work. I didn't do a pre-burn to remove the lining but you definitely could if you wished.
Very nice stove modification, James..🙂!! Keep those tips and how-to's coming..🇺🇲!!
Thanks, will do!

Dang, another cool vid, thx
Thanks for watching!
I'm curious to know how you put it out when you're finished if you haven't burned all the fuel. thanks for the video.
You just snuff it out by smothering the flame with a small metal lid or flat bit of stick.
