- British teenager Jay Slater has been missing in Tenerife for three days now, after flying out to the island for a music festival.
The 19-year-old's friend Lucy Law told the BBC that she fears he is in “severe danger” in harsh terrain in Tenerife without suncream, water or hiking gear.
Local police have refocused their search to the north of the island after discounting information which took them south.
The missing teenager’s mother has called for the British police to assist with the investigation, so "we can bring him home to his family".

Why hasn't the BBC mentioned the fact that Jay was convicted of being involved in a machete attack?
Because its irrelevant like your whole existence
They let him walk home? When they knew he was 10 hours away?
And where were the friends staying in the national park? Camping?
And why cant the friend show her face on camera if this is all just about a missing person?
This all sounds very odd.
He missed the last bus. Question is, why was his phone not already charged and why didn’t he just go back to his new friends instead, of walking ahead???
I believe this is all staged and, nothing like this really happened.

Timeline of Jay Slater's disappearance
June 12 - Jay arrived in Tenerife last Wednesday with his friend for the NRG rave a three day festival from 14-16 June at Los Cristianos.
June 17 - In the early hours of Monday morning Jay is pictured at the after party at Xanadu enjoying himself with pals including Lucy Mae West.
2am - Lucy decides to leave and head back to her apartment but Jay remains at the party and gets chatting to two British men he has met.
5am - Jay and the two men leave and make an hour car journey along the tortuously twisty mountain road to the Air B and B at Masca where the two mystery British men are staying.
6am - Neighbours at Casa Abuela Tina report noises from the house.
7:30am - Jay sends a picture of the view from Casa Abuela Tina and a picture of him holding a cigarette on the stone doorstep of the house.
Around 8am - Jay is seen by a local woman and he asks her how to get back to Los Cristianos by bus. She tells him the next one is not until 10am.
8.15am - The same woman says she saw him walking up the mountain and the wrong way
8.50am - Jay calls Lucy to say he has one percent on his phone and he is lost and has no idea where he is and he is trying to walk back Los Cristianos.
the two people he stayd with was strangers not friends he met them the night before at the festival chewin his face off drugs and they clearly said they had more gear at theres so he went back with them
Why didn't Lucy arrange to pick him up .doesn't make sense.
Yes he could have charged his phone and got water before he left the apartment.

If true, that's crazy but not impossible. When in Dublin, I picked up a paper that said that a mid 20s couple from Ukraine had their cheap car broken into and laptop and other goodies stolen. Within days, they had their own GoFundMe set up. They knew how to do that. When I saw pics of their car, I didn't understand how it had made it from Ukraine, but they were 11thousand euro up and climbing.
He is an adult not a child, he has a bad reputation and furthermore the story is girlfriend is saying keeps changing. Nice try!
Jay Slater, 18, of Fountains Way, ACCRINGTON - 18 month community order with 25 days rehabilitation activities and 150 hours unpaid work. Convicted of s18 wounding with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and violent disorder in August 2023, when he was aged 18. He is now 19.
Tom Hilton, who was 17 at the time of the attack, suffered a head injury so serious his skull was exposed, and wounds to his shoulders and legs in the attack close to the Old Paper Mill in Hermitage Street, Rishton, in August 2021.

Some are drunk and asleep or nursing a hang over while another wants to wander off and do something. Unless you have one designated babysitter to stay sober and alert 24 hours a day then people in a group on holiday are going to go off doing independent things. Especially teenagers.

I live in the Mojave (desert) and we keep a flat of water in the trunk of the car, even to the grocery store, and when we do go walking, we don't go anywhere unless we can still see the car (or the building we left from, or tour guide etc.

2 friends were staying in a remote national park . Nothing weird.

The mum looks like that because she knows his past and the fact his machete attack case was in the daily star two days after his disappearance.
She looks guilty yes, but because she's hiding this inside as she's saying he's such a nice guy.

According to newspapers I've read, Jay went to a nighclub (was seen there) that night, stayed what was left of the night with the 2 men at their airbnb in far N.W area of island, then had a cigarette outside and then told them he was going to get the bus back to where he and his initial friends were staying in far S.W. of island. He went to bus stop and asked a local lady re bus times. She tried to explain but didn't speak English. He had just missed a bus but next one due in 2 hrs' time. Why didn't he ask someone else for info or just wait? Shortly after that the lady drove past him and she said he was on a road going in the opposite direction to where he was staying at south end of island. Next we heard he was using maps on his phone to show the way to where he wanted to go but why didn't he just follow the bus route road and ask for directions ? Instead he went wandering off in top NE of island in a wild "dangerous area" with river and ravine, with no water, phone battery now dead. Well make of that what you will
Thanks for info. Given his violent past behaviour and drug-associations, plus the music fest, best bet: he was high as a kite and clearly, not thinking logically. I can't say I feel too strongly tbh, people prone to violence (clearly being unable to say NO to his mates in a peer-pressure gang environment, bashing up another kid, how pathetic) I don't feel have any place in a civilised society.

When did he go that night to nightclub where he was seen after the concert apparently, and where was that? And next day why not just wait for next bus? And why since he could have walked all the way to his destination on the bus's road, which apparently is the only proper road going that way for miles, why did he end up in the middle of nowhere. The 2 middle-aged men back in UK, are the police talking to them?
Those two men should be questioned.

This why locals from the Canary Islands are calling for a shift in the type of tourists who visit their islands. The current influx of tourists, particularly those relying on Universal Credit, often come here with little regard for the local environment or culture. They get drunk, do drugs, and act recklessly, contributing nothing positive to the community. When accidents inevitably happen, it's the local authorities who are unfairly blamed. These officials, already stretched thin dealing with issues like wildfires, are forced to divert their resources to search for wanna be road men who underestimated the dangers of the terrain

I don't see what being on Universal Credit has to do with it, but I agree that us Brits need to be more aware of our surroundings. And not put pressure on these poor countries' resources at a time when they're stretched anyway.
Brits getting drunk and drugged overseas is what locals are tired to see. If they behaved a little better and were more respectful I’m sure the local population wouldn’t be complaining so much.

Universal credit is money paid by the taxpayers for others who are on low income. Low income means you struggle or have just enough to put food on the table and pay necessities, NOT go on holiday. He didn’t go with 2 friends he went with 2 strangers who he met that night
He told us what happened in his last phone call. He got lost and was dehydrating. So many conspiracy theories people are coming up with even though it's obvious what mostly likely happened to this guy. Maybe if he'd learned to use a machete out there in the wild to build a shelter and survival rather than attacking teenagers he'd have been ok.

Good start imo would be to track down the 2 other lads he whent back to the air bnb with and question them, they are uk lads who got a flight home on tuesday after Spanish police questioned them, but at the time of questioning jay had only been mising less than 24hrs so their line of enquiry would have been tame compared to if they were being questioned today 5 full days missing, them 2 lads were the last people to see jay along with another lady who jays asked about bus times,

When he had his brief call with his friend before his battery dies she tell his to go straight back the airbnb and she will pick him up he replies "i cant go back there"??
This leads me to belive somthing heavy has gone down in the airbnb were there may have been more than just jay and the other 2 brits? Something that spooked jay so much that it made him want to get away from that place asap and walking was his only option? And if the 2brits who drove from festival 50 mins to air bnb then why not offer him a lift back or at least to the bottom of the region were there may have been more buses shops etc??
Or maybe jay witnessed somthing in the in the airbnb that could have incriminated the other 2brits and after he left on foot they followed him in their car offered a lift an jay never seen again🤷♂️

@acreativiter I belive the 2 brits didn't check out till Tuesday they had originally been due to check out Monday but ended up booking another night and checked out Tuesday
What I don't get is he asked the woman multiple times when the bus was coming how did he miss the bus? I am sure she would have also told him which direction the bus was going, why walk in the complete opposite direction? I agree with others that this whole thing is sounding dodgy.

There's a difference between walking to work where you have little enthusiasm to go and walking home when you're drunk and high and on an adventure abroad. Teenagers don't sit there planning their survival gear. Especially when on booze or pills.

We are all glued to our phones and in an night out you are constantly using it to take photos, videos, upload them, tell followers what you are doing, look at social media to see what others are doing at that time, you probably will phone them or they will phone you to know in real time everything … = 0% battery

Charging a phone takes time, perhaps he had to leave a place he wasn’t booked to stay in, perhaps there wasn't around his type of cable to charge it, perhaps he thought being a small island things wouldn’t get too bad so a phone charged wasn’t that urgent. People used to go on life without phones …

Bus stop he was told was running evey 10 minutes literally across a narrow path to the house he was staying at. He got a lift to the house from the festival so clearly those lads he was with wasnt gonna drop him off, but Jay decided to ignore the bus for the sake of ten minutes waiting and walk 10 hours with no phone charge? Something is weird, his mum and friends said he spoke sound of mind but clearly that doesnt exactly allign with his actions, wouldnt suprise me if he made off with those lads drugs in a hurry so he went through the mountains, off his head, hungover and dehydrated instead of waiting for the bus and logically charging his phone. Sounds to me that Jay had a reason to not be in that house anymore, maybe kicked out or stole something? From there he probably did more drugs thinking it would fuel the walk, completely off his head he probably made some stupid decision to cut across the terrain and get off the main road and unfortuantely ended up very injured and exhausted in a creek or hill dip and eventually succumb to the elements. Whatever happened, kidnapped or lost I doubt he is alive nearly 6 days in.

This sounds like the most plausible explanation. I don't think Lucy is telling the full story of what transpired in their phone conversation.
@@JulieKafkaesque The women he asked for bus times said he was walking at an unusually fast pace in the wrong direction to, I doubt he or Lucy is a drug kingpin like everyones saying, they are barely out of school. I dont think he has been murdered or kidnapped. Just made some poor decisions in a poor state of mind.

I feel for his poor mother, but young people these days take so many risks and live potentially dangerous lives: if drink and drugs were involved then anything can happen. I also feel that the two men he is said to have gone off with (was he drunk when he did this?) have more significant involvement than, so far, we have been lead to believe. Are they gay? Did they abuse him in some way? They need to be talked to again, in depth.......

If hes alive it will be a miracle. Hes most certainly dead, though. Not a bit of meat on his bones, clearly has a history of drugs and by the looks of it was still doing drugs at the rave, that on top of walking in that heat dehydrated hes probably died of exhaustion after stopping to regain energy cause he was hungover and hes somewhere. But it wont be a pretty site to come across. People saying why go with strangers across an island. Its no different from being at home and meeting randoms on a night out and getting a taxi to theres for a gaff, everyone does it, he just made the wrong choice. The bus stop apparently outside the house he was in and came every 10 minutes after speaking to neighbours yet he chose to walk and then cut through the land so clearly made the wrong choice thinking he was capable. He has a history of being the big man and untoucbable so his mind will be the same. Regardless of the history, hes still a guy lost abroad with family missing him, the boy he attacks family went through the same worry. He was wrong to do that. But its also wrong to just say its "karma". Its still a person.
