- In this video Alice goes to a local neighbourhood which is close to Yay Kyaw Road in Yangon. This is a typical local neighbourhood which you will find all over Yangon. In the video you will see the street life of the local people as well as some of the regular visitors to the neighbourhood - such as the ice cream seller, the steamed corn man and the Burmese snack lady. You will also see some of the local street food vendors who sell treats like gangster snacks and stuffed tofu. Alice will explain and explore the neighbourhood for you.

Alice speaks like my tour guide when I was touring Myanmar last year. Alice seems like a nice young lady with a gentle disposition. I am generally very impressed with the Burmese people for their gentle spirit, politeness and humility. They are hardworking folks but life is hard there. Many still live in poverty.

I fell in love with the hearts of the people of Myanmar through my Doctor in Australia who always showed compassion and kindness. I missed her when she left the practice to have a child, but always remember her heart. Alice is a very beautiful girl, but I see the same kindness in her smile. I enjoy these vids. 💖💖💖💖

I was also born in central Burma near where now the capital (Naypyitaw နေပြည်တော်) of Myanmar is, left Burma when I was 10 years old in 1969. I miss the tasty Burmese Pancake မုန့်ပြားသလက် (Myanma pizza); But I wonder why nowadays they call it လမ်းသရဲ မုန့် lann tha yae mont (Gangster Snack )? What is the history of the name of this pancake, anyone can reply ?

With COVID quite rampant in Myanmar it’s alarming to see the ice cream seller handle cash and bread with his bare hands. On a brighter note, Alice is gorgeous and has a good command of English. I hope she becomes a regular.

i was supposed to work in myanmar in 90's when there was no foreign shops but jordano. people were quite calm there, i remember.
but i dont remember any local food.
elite people i met always criticized about aung san suu kyi who was confined at her house. i was very surprised at their thought

The market stalls, street vendors and cook food wrap with old newspaper was like life in Singapore in the 1950s which I have seen in photos. Could be a nice place if English speaking tour guides are easily available.

Cocoanut in Burma is the tastiest in comparison to other S-E Asian countries. It is far more rich in it's cocoanut milk content and very aromatic. We get cocoanut in Perth Australia but not as good as Burma cocoanut.

Looks like a typical market here in PH.. we sell ice cream in a bun too.. I used to buy it when I was a kid and I missed how it taste like right now so much!! But I saw some indian-like preparation of some street foods that we don't have.. I really want to try those as I always see many video regarding indian foods which are appetizing..
