For a sausage based breakfast with eggs and potatoes, I personally think hot sauce is a weird choice for a seasoning, if the taste is bland. I find, in my home kitchen, at least, that bland pork breakfast sausage always benefits from some ground sage, black pepper and salt, maybe a few dried red pepper flakes. Those are the ingredients that are normally used to make pork breakfast sausage in the first place and they are very light when included in your backpacking seasoning gear. I think most Southerners would say that those are the flavors that "bad" sausage lacks.
If I remember correctly, you called it backpackers country too 😂. Great video. I enjoy the mountain house. The peak refuel was bland tasting to me. Haven’t seen the Backpackers pantry one yet
As with any meal, whether in be in a restaurant, eating at a friend's house, or even at your own home, you have to season to your own individual taste. One person might think it needs salt, another person might think it's too salty, and another person might think it's just right. To be fair, you could try salting them to taste, and then rating them.
Since Mountain House pulled out of Europe in 2017, its almost impossible to get here in the UK. Unless I want to buy the 3 varieties from Amazon at severely inflated prices. Which I don't. Cool review :)
Sounding like maybe some gifts or trades would be in order. Folks these days can never have enough friends world wide… Things like REAL TURMAT are extremely hard to get in the US as well… Just wondering???
Why not just follow directions, instead of "disclaiming"? Enough poor results following the directions might result in improved directions. Just Sayin"!
