Honestly I think you should look into suing like your doctor said. If for nothing else then at least to protect others (and get _some_ compensation for what they put you through)

I'm in the social work field, working on my MSW and have noticed that medical insurance/pharmacy case workers tend to have a license of some kind (RN, LCSW, LMFT). Get enough complaints like this and she could lose that license

That is what makes a great server/coworker/supervisor/whatever! We all need breaks. We are all vulnerable. You really pushed yourself hard and were dealing with a whole hell of a lot. Whether we have an invisible illness or mental health struggles.. that must be respected. I know this was just one incident and you were venting but I hope you are valued at your workplace. As a fellow diabetic, I am so so sorry for what you just had to go through!! Doctors and insurance truly suck for us but that is one of the worst I’ve heard. I hope you find out who that case worker is because they really need to be reported. So cool that they’re making a 7 day tube now though and that you get to test it out early! I have the Omnipod, which only lasts 3 days as well. Hopefully that one will change in the future too.
I nearly bursted out in tears when you said that doctor called you on his personal cellphone talking about giving you your supplies...I am so glad he did what he did...talk about a hail mary pass 💕💕 But man! I love how real you are about living with Type 1 Diabetes. My Mom was diagnosed at 7 with Type 1 as well. I showed my Mom your videos and she loves how positive you are. It is awful when the insurance companies won't work with you about getting your medical supplies you need. I have had to talk to supervisors for her and explaining the lawsuit that will happen if she dies because they are not doing their job. It is crazy that it takes the threat of a lawsuit to get them to do their job right. It is crazy how tough it is. She also has a libre meter and loves hers. She even wears special patches over hers so they don't fall off due to sweating too much.
I'm an introvert who NEVER plays extrovert. That's why I am attracted to people with your kind of energy. And I'm an empath as well. While you were talking about the customer you had and the medical issues you were(probably still are) going thru I was in tears. It hurt my heart. I have PCOS and Endometriosis, and honestly, don't belittle your pain. Pain is pain and it suckssss. If you need to talk about it and are having a hard time with it, then its awesome to express and share all experiences no matter what they are. Being open about painful periods needs to be done more, so thank you for talking about it!
People really need to learn to have more understanding for those working with some form of Customer Service, because the job is to follow the orders given and help as much as possible, not be a punching bag! No one gets paid to be verbally attacked by someone on something that can be fixed with communication! Work environment these days are pretty bad at that. Massive respect of keeping your anger at the end of the day because, that woman and manager sure didn’t win their respect with their aggression/dismissal in the situation. I just got out of the military that supplied me with my med for hypothyroidism. In the civilian side, I can’t see a primary doctor and have to go to the emergency room for my med prescription. So I know how frustrating it is when it seems like no one understands. But hang in there. And fight for what you need! Don’t back down.

I’m the same way. It’s so strange but in HS I was so extroverted and the “social butterfly”. But now at 34, I’m so introverted. At a certain point my social battery is spent and it takes DAYS for my battery to recharge.

So with you Katie, been a type 1 since age 8, also a nurse, when the uk left Europe (brexit] there was talk of insulin supplies not getting through to the uk. I was researching flying to France or Germany to get my insulin, and how to get a prescription from another country. People don’t get it. I get nervous if I check the fridge and have less than two boxes. I get how scared you were. I hope your caseworker enjoyed her vacation, she should be on one permanently due her lack of a duty of care.

I remember after my transplant, my nurses had been putting my meds through my Gtube while I was still sedated. One day it got clogged and my mom said they called around the WHOLE HOSPITAL to try to find someone who knew anything about gtubes….. WHAT??? You’re telling me the #2 hospital in the country and no one knows how to deal with gtubes? Okay…. 😅

Sammmmmmeeeeee dude. I love being alone. The rest of the world tells me I’ll die alone and early and probably become very mentally ill in the process but I think that’s actually what will happen if I interact with too many humans.
I have type 2 diabetes and recently diagnosed in December 2021, had the same issue, but not with medication. My primary insurance originally wouldn't pay for my sensors (Freestyle Libre 2), but my secondary would. Then all of a sudden when a refill came there was a problem in September, it was delayed. It took a month between calling the pharmacy, my doctor, and then eventually my insurance or technically a third party to my insurance, it's Aetna. The delay was because Aetna wanted a prior auth from my doctor and I was like why because they don't pay on it. Here they wanted me to use what they prefer as a sensor and I told them no, you don't get to dictate that only myself and my doctor have that right. I was told then my doctor would have to write a letter of appeal and who knows how long that could take. Eventually, a month later, this was fixed. Aetna said they would pay 80 percent of it as the sensor is considered a DME (durable medical equipment). I was very pissed off that for a whole month I had nothing to check my sugar with nor did anyone offer to give me other supplies like lancets and strips to check. I still had the Freestyle Libre scanner and it takes strips, but again no one offered. I could have slipped below my sugar level or had it go way too high and not known it. I do get a warning sign if I start going low or high which is I want to sleep, but I need to know exactly how low or high I have gotten. Worst month of my life so I definitely feel for you on that. Also, that lady was terribly rude and you are allowed to have a moment to compose yourself, that's not a weakness, you needed time to process what the hell happened. That caseworker needs fired, obviously she doesn't understand the consequences of what happens to someone with diabetes when they don't have the stuff they need, it's life or death! We won't be okay if we don't get our meds or supplies, what didn't she understand about the urgency in your voice? Makes me mad when people can't do their jobs! Hope all gets better and by the way love Amari, that second book was just as epic as the first! 😊💕💕💕
I have severe fibromyalgia, depression and slowly going blind and believe me the public medical care in South Africa is rage inducing and exhausting 😔🌹 sorry you such a horrid week and I hope it goes better and brighter from here on. Ugh I cried for you watching this. Dealing with the doctors, insurance, and Medtronic as a t1d is frustrating, and when you get low on supplies it's terrifying. I'm on the 770g pump and Guardian CGM, but if you ever need supplies, I've got you! I keep a script for Lantus (my long-acting) and Novalog (pens for backup and vials for my pump). I've always got pens to spare, just in case of emergency. I suggest doing the same, but if you're ever in a pinch, you can reach out. Us t1ds have to stick together! ❤

Your Doctor is right, you should sue. She needs to be reported and fired at the very least. She could kill someone "forgetting" about shipments of life saving medications. Thats insane! You absolutely have to report her to spare yourself and others from having to work with her again.
I do NOT miss working at a restaurant. Humans are disgusting with how they treat others. I did not realize how depressed I was until I left the costumer service industry. Every single one of us has something going on with our lives. We are all struggling, but that does not mean you take it out on others. It takes a tremendous amount of strength to not go off on someone that is yelling at your for no reason . I am so sorry you had to deal with that. I was so mad for you about everything with the case worker and the lady at your work I had to stop the video for a day ! I can only imagine how tiring it would be to do it but I think maybe you should try to do something about it. At least writte a letter to the company ? I mean this is soooo f*cked up. She could have arm you and she may do that to other people. Their way of handling that was terrible !!! And about the work part... my god I know exactly how this feel. Not so long ago a customer at work made me cry, she was awful just because she wanted a discount and tried to make me fired. My boss supported her just to '' get the deal '' ( it was a really low one with those discount ! ) and told me '' I know this is bullshit, she is the craziest but go back take care or her. So I had to go back taking care of her ( the service we provide is for few days ) and she was so mean and weardly happy that I '' lost'' against her. My boss then explained how much he will allways support me and not the crazy customer..... hell yeah you did... sorry my english isnt quite good !! Anyway. You are brave and strong !!! you can doubt it some Times to Times but please never believe otherwise ♥️

Have you used anything beside the Omnipod? I have heard it’s good and my pumps warranty just expired. I was considering moving to it

I just got out of the military that supplied me with my med for hypothyroidism. In the civilian side, I can’t see a primary doctor and have to go to the emergency room for my med prescription. So I know how frustrating it is when it seems like no one understands. But hang in there. And fight for what you need! Don’t back down.

So with you Katie, been a type 1 since age 8, also a nurse, when the uk left Europe (brexit] there was talk of insulin supplies not getting through to the uk. I was researching flying to France or Germany to get my insulin, and how to get a prescription from another country. People don’t get it. I get nervous if I check the fridge and have less than two boxes. I get how scared you were. I hope your caseworker enjoyed her vacation, she should be on one permanently due her lack of a duty of care.

I remember after my transplant, my nurses had been putting my meds through my Gtube while I was still sedated. One day it got clogged and my mom said they called around the WHOLE HOSPITAL to try to find someone who knew anything about gtubes….. WHAT??? You’re telling me the #2 hospital in the country and no one knows how to deal with gtubes? Okay…. 😅

I have type 2 diabetes and recently diagnosed in December 2021, had the same issue, but not with medication. My primary insurance originally wouldn't pay for my sensors (Freestyle Libre 2), but my secondary would. Then all of a sudden when a refill came there was a problem in September, it was delayed. It took a month between calling the pharmacy, my doctor, and then eventually my insurance or technically a third party to my insurance, it's Aetna. The delay was because Aetna wanted a prior auth from my doctor and I was like why because they don't pay on it. Here they wanted me to use what they prefer as a sensor and I told them no, you don't get to dictate that only myself and my doctor have that right. I was told then my doctor would have to write a letter of appeal and who knows how long that could take. Eventually, a month later, this was fixed. Aetna said they would pay 80 percent of it as the sensor is considered a DME (durable medical equipment). I was very pissed off that for a whole month I had nothing to check my sugar with nor did anyone offer to give me other supplies like lancets and strips to check. I still had the Freestyle Libre scanner and it takes strips, but again no one offered. I could have slipped below my sugar level or had it go way too high and not known it. I do get a warning sign if I start going low or high which is I want to sleep, but I need to know exactly how low or high I have gotten. Worst month of my life so I definitely feel for you on that.
Also, that lady was terribly rude and you are allowed to have a moment to compose yourself, that's not a weakness, you needed time to process what the hell happened.
That caseworker needs fired, obviously she doesn't understand the consequences of what happens to someone with diabetes when they don't have the stuff they need, it's life or death! We won't be okay if we don't get our meds or supplies, what didn't she understand about the urgency in your voice? Makes me mad when people can't do their jobs!

Ugh I cried for you watching this. Dealing with the doctors, insurance, and Medtronic as a t1d is frustrating, and when you get low on supplies it's terrifying. I'm on the 770g pump and Guardian CGM, but if you ever need supplies, I've got you! I keep a script for Lantus (my long-acting) and Novalog (pens for backup and vials for my pump). I've always got pens to spare, just in case of emergency. I suggest doing the same, but if you're ever in a pinch, you can reach out. Us t1ds have to stick together! ❤
