They took control of their circumstances and made it look like a 3rd gen girl group at their prime. Were the rappers and synchronicity better in the other group for sure (Yuki, Yeeun and Sangah high praises) but the vocalssss, the mature vibe, the energy, the facial expressions, the distribution of parts, the camera work, the adlibs, the layering of complex vocal tones and movement of the Athena team was just effortless.
both teams did a good job. for me the winner is athena. kei's mature voice fits the song much more than bora's. bora's voice fits bright songs more, athena team has more mature sounds so it makes it easy to listen the song while pick cat's vocal verses sounds kinda unfitting the song. dohwa really killed it as a center, her experience brought so much to the table. pick cat's rappers were good, athena rappers did a good job too. elly surprised me cuz her rap parts was as good as pick cat's rappers i didn't know she can rap. her voice fits song amazingly, kei hwiseo and elly's vocals made the song stood out more than other team. i liked miru and juri's parts as well. i didn't like fye's pronunciation that much but it didn't sound bad either. her dance was great. overall, i think athena team is #1 for me
OMG, I'm agree with you, the Athena them killing it. Elly is my favorite because I'm a huge fan of Weki Meki and I was quite impressed + Kei, Dohwa and Miru experiences helped make the song feel consistent. In short, the 7 in this team stood out both for their talent and for their work. I think is the best team out of the four. 🥰
Bora for sure made a very cohesive team and they fit the song really well, but i think everyone in athena shined individually so much and showed their own charms, and it made their performance stand out the most for me, it's more memorable. Focusing on the song, athena had way more mature voices, wich made the song sounds best in their version. I agree the pick cat group seems better suited for the song on a surface level, but when I look at it deeper it doesn't even seem to me like sangah yuki and yeeun were that much better than juri Elly and faii, specially considering the pick cat rap line are known to be good rappers. some people mentioned about the difference between the budget, styling etc. in case you guys aren't familiar with mnet format, they usually will give more budget and attention to winner group, in this case the pick-cat as they have bora who won the first showcase challenge and get to pick her team and drop others. just like how they did with Street Women's Fighter mv challenge before. That's that, and my heart and vote go to Athena. I love how sensuous and alluring Kei's vocal shines in the track and all of them have distinctive voices too, it's easy to spot the change of vocals yet they blended well together. Pick-cat do look like a cohesive team, they share similar vibe and visually, they look like they are of the same height too, which look nice and more uniform on screen. however, it's a shame that some members didn't get much screentime. while Pick-cat gives girl-crush vibe, Athena femme fatale force can't be denied too. can't wait for the result!
I think putting fye against yeeun was the best decision available for Athena to actually be of comparison performance wise in the rap parts. As most of them were vocalist, choosing someone that can standout albeit being placed against a seasoned rapper was the way to go in that situation. I salute them for that. In general, I think there were a lot of good choices done in Athena team that each one of them stood out. I wonder who lead them.
shown in ep 3. Dohwa did a lot of the leading. i was moved with how well she encouraged the team and helped them recognize their vices and virtues. and instead of trying to 1v1 in terms of position to the other team, she shifted the focus to their overall appeal and unique charms
I think Kei and Bora are both great vocals, though I think Kei’s voice suits this song a bit better. Bora has a very bright voice that works best in cheerful or elegant concepts. Kei’s voice is softer and more sensual which works well here. Overall, I prefer Pick the Cat for their stage presence and performance chemistry as a group, but both groups did well.
Honestly I think kei as a more seasoned veteran also knows well how to make her voice suit this concept better which is what a kpop idol vocal needs, really impressive the moment kei's part started I was hookeddd

Okay for Athena, I must say Dohwa is the epitome of this concept like whoa she slayed and embodied the concept real hard! Next is Kei, omg her voice is so on point and a perfect fit for this song! These two veterans gave their team the advantage that they need. Props to Hwiseo also, that intro was so good! On the other side, Pick Cat, the execution and team play are topnotch and it was their strength! They felt like a permanent group performing for a long time way ever since. The rap/dance line suited the song better as how the vocal was suited from Athena. Props to Yeeun and Chaerin, they ate their parts so well! Overall, both are good but I'm kinda leaning more towards Pick Cat for this one.
Going by line and position, Yuki vs Elly, Riina vs Hwiseo, Yeoreum vs Dohwa, and Bora vs Kei made it hard for me to pick who is better than who. While for the remaining pairs, the PICK-CAT members dominated the scene. My personal bias gets on the way of me choosing PICK-CAT's version over Athena, when the latter had ELLY, MY FREAKING BEST GIRL, Dohwa, Kei, Hwiseo, and even Miru. PICK-CAT definitely owned this battle, but I still prefer Athena's perf. Sorry, I had to word my biased opinion. I have nothing against anyone. I just love Athena's perf while admitting that PICK-Cat deserved their win this round.
I do agree that Pick-cat did a great job in this performance. However, all the rappers in the group sound similar. No particular idol I wanted to praise because they all did great that their performance feels like it's plain or meh... I feel like only Bora performs differently, but if I compare her to Kei, Kei's vocal is more suitable for this song. And everyone in Athena's group shows up their charm individually.

Just finished watching the ending to the 7 x 7 battle. Pretty much agree with the judges on this one. I do however think the editing helped + the extra shot locations for Athena makes their video stand out more. Like Fye's drop into a cut to another shot. Pick-Cat was very cohesive, but didn't really try to push the boundaries that much. I think Kei's input during recording to change things so that it suited her probably gave them a bigger edge.

Who did better each part (my opinion) Bora vs Kei = I think Kei did a better job in this one for sure Yeoreum vs Chanmi = I might have to say a tie in this one, the two of them did amazing Riina vs Hwiseo = Riina 100 %, they both killed the vocals but Riina danced better esp in the intro, but omg why did those two have the same part, there's gonna be drama in the episode. Sangah vs Elly = Sangah rapped better (she's a rapper duh), but Elly sang too, so Elly Yeeun vs Fye = Yeeun 100% Chaerin vs Miru = their skills seem to be similar, but Chaerin had better facial expressions Yuki vs Juri = I'm sorry, but Yuki ate this up, she slayed the house down, ate and left no crumbs Everyone did great tbh, I'm not a fan of anyone but Cherry Bullet and Yeeun on this show, I still tried to be objective with those too though.
For overall cohesiveness, snap and conviction, I would have to give it to Pick Cats. Was better shot as more of a dance video where as Athena had more camera movement, cuts, zooms and set changes where the choreography seemed covered up. When I first saw the PC video I assumed they were an established group and the song had a very good vocal balance to it which holds up under repeated listening. Athena does seem more like a TV show performance tho with a tendency to focus on individual vocalist in sections (which were quite good indeed) as opposed to pulling off a hypnotic production that pulls the listener in. For presenting the talents I think they both did equally well. As an actual "group" feel tho PC is starting out stronger!
I liked Yeeun's group better overall but looking side by side, there were definitely some major parts where Athena ATE. Kei killed the main vocal part and Juri was a really nice surprise
Yeeun Rap and Boras vocal’s definitely make there song slay. But Kai on her song that second Chorus slays, and I dont know her name but one Athena girl with the deep voice definitely slays. Also yuki and sangah pronounciation of snap does something to the song. But even chaaerin, yeorum, rinna vocal parts was almost chosen to literally made for them.

i think personally athena's stage presence was better by a lot compared to pick cat they had more charisma and color to add to the song that made them more memorable
some people mentioned about the difference between the budget, styling etc. in case you guys aren't familiar with mnet format, they usually will give more budget and attention to winner group, in this case the pick-cat as they have bora who won the first showcase challenge and get to pick her team and drop others. just like how they did with Street Women's Fighter mv challenge before. That's that, and my heart and vote go to Athena. I love how sensuous and alluring Kei's vocal shines in the track and all of them have distinctive voices too, it's easy to spot the change of vocals yet they blended well together. Pick-cat do look like a cohesive team, they share similar vibe and visually, they look like they are of the same height too, which look nice and more uniform on screen. however, it's a shame that some members didn't get much screentime. while Pick-cat gives girl-crush vibe, Athena femme fatale force can't be denied too. can't wait for the result!

I think putting fye against yeeun was the best decision available for Athena to actually be of comparison performance wise in the rap parts. As most of them were vocalist, choosing someone that can standout albeit being placed against a seasoned rapper was the way to go in that situation. I salute them for that. In general, I think there were a lot of good choices done in Athena team that each one of them stood out. I wonder who lead them.
Kei dohwa and mirurun experience was enough to guide the kids

shown in ep 3. Dohwa did a lot of the leading. i was moved with how well she encouraged the team and helped them recognize their vices and virtues. and instead of trying to 1v1 in terms of position to the other team, she shifted the focus to their overall appeal and unique charms
i love how the parts are distributed at the bridge in athena's, they were able to showcase the vocal colors of the members
I think Kei and Bora are both great vocals, though I think Kei’s voice suits this song a bit better. Bora has a very bright voice that works best in cheerful or elegant concepts. Kei’s voice is softer and more sensual which works well here. Overall, I prefer Pick the Cat for their stage presence and performance chemistry as a group, but both groups did well.
Honestly I think kei as a more seasoned veteran also knows well how to make her voice suit this concept better which is what a kpop idol vocal needs, really impressive the moment kei's part started I was hookeddd
@@chloecinnamonn I personally felt that both idols adjusted their voices appropriately for the concept and most of the difference had to do with vocal color and timbre which is difficult to change, but I agree that Kei’s vocal style in this cover was incredibly effective.
I also do want to note that while Kei is absolutely a veteran idol and deserves respect for that, Bora has been in the industry for 5 years now, so she’s not exactly a rookie.

Oh Kei ATEEE she had no mercy… Hwiseo, Elly, and Kei’s vocal combination had me ascending like…. And right before them, Miru and Juri made for such a unique section with their contrasting voices. Dohwa and Kei’s experience shines sm. Ngl I have to thank Bora for not being the best strategist lol by unintentionally giving us a GOLDEN team with the drop team, and I’m glad Athena won unanimously!
For me athena. They give equal line distribution even though the production is less from pick cat. I love kei voice no need to go for highnotes although we all know she can. A very calming voice

IMO athena is much better due to the standout performances and voices. Rap line for pick-cat is strong but it was a stupid move IMO to put all the other excellent singers into the drop group. Kei's voice suits this song so much more and I think in general athena was more expressive!

Okay for Athena, I must say Dohwa is the epitome of this concept like whoa she slayed and embodied the concept real hard! Next is Kei, omg her voice is so on point and a perfect fit for this song! These two veterans gave their team the advantage that they need. Props to Hwiseo also, that intro was so good!
On the other side, Pick Cat, the execution and team play are topnotch and it was their strength! They felt like a permanent group performing for a long time way ever since. The rap/dance line suited the song better as how the vocal was suited from Athena. Props to Yeeun and Chaerin, they ate their parts so well!
Overall, both are good but I'm kinda leaning more towards Pick Cat for this one.

Going by line and position, Yuki vs Elly, Riina vs Hwiseo, Yeoreum vs Dohwa, and Bora vs Kei made it hard for me to pick who is better than who. While for the remaining pairs, the PICK-CAT members dominated the scene. My personal bias gets on the way of me choosing PICK-CAT's version over Athena, when the latter had ELLY, MY FREAKING BEST GIRL, Dohwa, Kei, Hwiseo, and even Miru. PICK-CAT definitely owned this battle, but I still prefer Athena's perf.
Sorry, I had to word my biased opinion. I have nothing against anyone. I just love Athena's perf while admitting that PICK-Cat deserved their win this round.

I do agree that Pick-cat did a great job in this performance. However, all the rappers in the group sound similar. No particular idol I wanted to praise because they all did great that their performance feels like it's plain or meh... I feel like only Bora performs differently, but if I compare her to Kei, Kei's vocal is more suitable for this song. And everyone in Athena's group shows up their charm individually.

Just finished watching the ending to the 7 x 7 battle. Pretty much agree with the judges on this one. I do however think the editing helped + the extra shot locations for Athena makes their video stand out more. Like Fye's drop into a cut to another shot. Pick-Cat was very cohesive, but didn't really try to push the boundaries that much. I think Kei's input during recording to change things so that it suited her probably gave them a bigger edge.

For overall cohesiveness, snap and conviction, I would have to give it to Pick Cats. Was better shot as more of a dance video where as Athena had more camera movement, cuts, zooms and set changes where the choreography seemed covered up. When I first saw the PC video I assumed they were an established group and the song had a very good vocal balance to it which holds up under repeated listening. Athena does seem more like a TV show performance tho with a tendency to focus on individual vocalist in sections (which were quite good indeed) as opposed to pulling off a hypnotic production that pulls the listener in. For presenting the talents I think they both did equally well. As an actual "group" feel tho PC is starting out stronger!
Hwiseo, Miru, Yeoreum, Elly, Kei, Sangah/Juri, Yeeun (who I think did better each of their parts, but they all did fantastic)
Athena is better than Pick-Cat in uniqueness term, their voices can be separated while Pick-Cat has the same voice like normal Korean singers.
I liked Yeeun's group better overall but looking side by side, there were definitely some major parts where Athena ATE. Kei killed the main vocal part and Juri was a really nice surprise
이렇게 보니까 확실히 아테나가 노래부를 때 확실히 가수를 잘 보여주고 카메라 워킹이 더 잘된 느낌. 파트 분배도 잘 되서 전체적으로 보컬 조화가 완벽했고, 랩 실력이 상대적으로 부족한 팀이지만 부족한걸 잘 못느낄 정도로 완벽한 무대였다.

Yeeun Rap and Boras vocal’s definitely make there song slay. But Kai on her song that second Chorus slays, and I dont know her name but one Athena girl with the deep voice definitely slays. Also yuki and sangah pronounciation of snap does something to the song. But even chaaerin, yeorum, rinna vocal parts was almost chosen to literally made for them.
In terms of vocals I would say Athena but with rap it has to be Pick A Cat . Both groups did amazing
