    This song was actually a Christmas song originally. The movie company of ”Pretty woman” reached out to Roxette for an ending song, but there was no time to write a new one so they just changed the lyrics on this one, without the Christmas references. Tommy’s version is at goosebumps level! 🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻

      @@swedishmom It was originally called "It Must Have Been Love (Christmas for the Broken Hearted)" and released (only in Sweden) 3 years before the altered movie version. Apart from the title, the only thing changed is in the second verse; the words "Christmas Day" were changed to "winter's day". ☺

    This must have been your best reaction ever (well Bismarck pt 1&2 for different reasons) You where really spot on in everything on this one. And I totally agree the Marie Fredriksson was an absolute treasure of Sweden. But even though she was great in Roxette, her solo songs is on a totally other level. They bring out emotions in you that you didn´t even know you had. Most of her songs are sung in Swedish though, but try listening to "Ännu doftar kärlek" and Sparvöga. Always nice to see your reaction and have a great weekend. All the best from Sweden.

    I grew up listening to Roxette too. Marie's (RIP) voice is unique and unrepeatable and I agree with your observation about the vulnerability of her voice. I really liked what Tommy did with this one but the original is unbeatable (at least in my heart). That being said, I would love to hear some Roxette performed by Floor. Cheers from Buenos Aires, Argentina!!!

    I'm so happy to have found 3 tickets to a Roxette concert in Globen Stockholm!
    First i thought they were old, but looked at them and saw
    it the concert was 2 weeks later. I was keeping an eye out
    if someone was searching for their tickets.

  • @karinkrenn
    @karinkrenn 3 месяца назад +1

    You're right - Marie's voice sounded more vulnerable. But Tommy's expression here is no less emotional - the emotion is just different. Pain is joined by anger - but that's characteristic for metal imo. 🎶

    It was a swedish girl I think was a exchange-student that played her swedish music and it was picked up somehow. For me working as a nannie in Toronto 88-89 we kept asking for them at the nightclub and in the the end when the DJ saw us it was; And for the swedish girls here's Roxette!!😊❤❤

      No it was an American exchangestudent that while in Sweden bought the singel Joyride that he then brought back with him to the US and got the local radiostation to play it. And then it got popular and started to spread.

    I agree that Tommy’s voice is so clean that sometimes he has trouble interpreting emotion. Another example is his cover of Taylor Swift’s ‘Antihero’. The song is about crippling depression, but Tommy doesn’t convey the pain. I can’t imagine Tommy ever being depressed; actually I can’t figure Taylor Swift being depressed either. Unfortunately, I know all about it. That being said, I simply adore Tommy J and everything he does. And I really appreciate your insightful reviews!

    • @marinamucic908
      @marinamucic908 3 месяца назад +4

      Actually, he was depressed and burnt out before he joined Sabaton. He wasn't happy at his former label and it got to the point where he quit all music for a year and even considered selling all his guitars and quitting music completely. Knowing how much Tommy loves his guitars, it says a lot. Luckily, he didn't quit music and (hopefully) he's in a much better place now, but he knows well what depression feels like. Not all people show their feelings and it's often ones who we think are most cheerful and happy the ones who are hurting the most (like the late Robin Williams). That being said, I get your point. I can absolutely hear emotion in Tommy's cover, but it's not the same for all. As for Taylor Swift cover , there are also emotions, but different than hers, it's sarcasm and resentment (at least that's what I hear). She's like "yes, I know I'm the problem" as he is "Ok! I'm the problem! Happy now?!" Also, I hope you are in a better place too, or at least getting there

    Hi! Iv recently been seeing multiple of your reaction videos - being a Sabaton fan, Tommy ofc, but also several of the artists you mentioned in todays videos.
    That said, I do have some videos that you MUST check out!
    It would be weird if you didn't know about Eric Grönwall, how ever he is doing some fantastic solo videos recently.
    Eric Gronwall - I will always love you
    Eric Grönwall - Your the voice
    There are plenty more aswell. But he is a swedish power metal artist, won Idol some 10 or 15 years ago :P
    Another one is a fellow Norwegian from my hometown.
    Jørgen Dahl Moe. Check out his "Dancing in the Dark" and "Purple Rain" :)
    Both of them totaly worth a few minutes :)

    Its hard or me to listen to a Roxette song without Maries vocals. Tommy is an outstanding singer, but as you said, the vulnerability in her voice paired with the female strength it also had, is unmatched. It is a very good cover though.

    Also, that's my problem with many of Tommy's covers. He's too damn good and effortless singing doesn't always sound *right* for the song.
