Awesome info. I'm growing autos in both Earth Boxes and 5 gallon containers using BAS products and I'm loving it. Organic is so much less hassle and is quite forgiving which is great for a knucklehead like me. Couldn't have gotten here without you. Learn something from every single video. Thank you, Jeremy!

@Cosmo S About to embark on the same journey. One question.....Do you pH the water you add to the reservoir of the earth box? Do you pH the water for the first top waterings? Same question for the 5 gallon containers. Do you need to adjust pH for those when watering both routinely and when top dressing? Thanks!

@Magic Synthetics are manageable, so their evils are subjective. Even a relatively small home hobby grow with soil, peat, coco-coir, etc.. grown entirely with synthetics, can be renewed with living soil methods. I personally grow syn'-'ganic.. meaning I use both methods/products.

My soil is about the same as what he’s making. I go to Florida in the winter end in Florida by Lake Placid There is a previous storage lake bed in the soil pitch black. They grill all kinds of different vegetables in this fantastic soil. I always bring back to large garbage bags full of this fantastic earth. And then I had my other ingredients. It has such earthy smell to it. I put them in large pans and put it in the oven at 2:25 for 30 minutes to kill any kind of bugs that might be in it. I’ve always been into heating my soil it’s a good policy to get into to avoid those nasty little critters that’ll fuck up a good crop

There is a movement called #SaveSoil which im sure you may be interested in, as well as the entire buildasoil community. I beg everyone to please look into it. All across the world our soils are far to low in organic content, micro organisms, nutrients and so many of our insect species are becoming extinct. You of all people know the damage this can do and has done. I hope you and everyone in the comments sees this. Again pls look into it everyone. #SaveSoil love and peace ALL

Hi my name is Mike and I'm from Connecticut. I am a medical cannabis patient and I grow my own medicine. See I am a recovering addict and have been through some things when I was younger no child should. Well someone super close to me ("Family") passed away from cannabis laced with Fentanyl so I started growing my own medicine. This is when I came across your videos. I just wanna say thank you sooooo much. You have been 1 of the few that had been vital to my recovery. I've been clean 3.5years now and quit a whole bunch more bad habits since. I have turned a page in life and you inspired me to do something I'm extremely passionate about. Cuz of you I now to do my own youtube channel and teach local ppl how to grow and give recovering addicts like myself a healthy alternative/hobby to life by growing your own medicine, flowers, veggies, and more. Your absolutely inspirational 👏 and educational. Super entertaining as well. I to grow organic I use roots organics. Soon I would love to get the build a soil living soil kit. I'm hoping for my next run. I wanna do the eath box and keep reusing the soil in my 4x4x8. Sorry for long Comment. Just wanted to say man I love your channel and I'm hoping to meet you in real life one day man. I'm hoping I can inspire someone like you inspired me thank you bro. Okay well Bye. Man, I’m on my first LS/Earth Box run and things were going great until middle of this week. I have two Earth Boxes with 2 photos in each in a 4x4. Temps and humidity have been ideal. I sewed the seeds directly into the soil and sprayed the top of the soil regularly with RO water and Q until 12-13 days after planting. Then I filled the reservoir on both. Growth was going fine until Tuesday-Wednesday of this week (it’s currently Sunday). I noticed lower leaves started to yellow and the entire plant is curling in. The weird part is, it’s only happening to the plants in the back of each Earth Box. So in each EB you have one healthy-looking plant in the front and a curled, yellowing plant in the back. And I noticed the plants with issues seem like joysticks, meaning they almost topple over at the base of the stem, where it meets the soil.
The only real issues I’m seeing in the front plants are too tightly packed nodes due to I believe too intense light, and some slight curling of some leaves.
I personally believe I should’ve watered for the second time sooner, but I posted some pictures online and info and everyone is telling me they’re overwatered.
So to recap, I planted the seeds about 26 days ago, filled the res for the first time about 13 days ago, the plants started showing issues about 4-5 days ago, and I filled the res for the second time 2 days ago.
I personally believe I underwatered them and in turn, the ph has spiked. Does anyone have any feedback for me? Would it be possible to overwater the plants according to the schedule I mentioned above, or does it sound more like underwatering? Any help is appreciated.

I've noticed I'm sometimes coming into roots that have come up just under the surface so it seems I should just toss my top dressing on top and water it?

Hey Jeremy! I noticed that in season 3 you haven’t once mentioned or top dressed with Gnarly Barley. Gnar-Bar is also conspicuously missing from the BAS feeding schedule. What’s going on? Is Gnar-Bar still a staple or what? If so, where does it fit in the BAS schedule? Replaces the Pure Protein?

    • @Bladecutter

I noticed that it is missing as well. I simply add the label amount every time I top dress. They can no longer source the milled version, so you will need to grind it in a blender before using. I may be mistaken, but I think of it as a treat for the worms as well. Good luck with your garden.

I'm curious to read why you do not use an irrometer as a tool to demonstrate your knowledge of watering. My belief is that it will help viewers correlate when and why to water based on your recommendations. Using one has definitely helped me. I'm also learning to use the measurements based on the time of the measurement; meaning, my reaction is different depending on the stage: early veg; full veg; early flower; late flower/ripening.

Using Aloe and Coconut with Earthbox, Top water only. use plain water for the reservoir, this will prevent gunk up. Per Build a Soil support.

Every so often I’ll slip something down the earthbox reservoir 😉
      Insect frass ferment
      Power si
Occasionally aloe Vera at the 1/4 tsp/gallon rate. That said I never go back to back in the reservoir with anything other than water only (eg insect frass ferment, water only, power si, water only, aloe, water only… and so on

If scrogs are used to train the plant to be wider, what do you do if you have a wide plant and want to encourage it to grow taller (or just contain the spread)?

I would like some advice. my soil takes me through two months of veg and probably deep into flower from seed. I want to do a top dressing for flower. (Dry Kelp flakes + Gypsum + Worm castings) Do u think this is a good mix for flower. And do I top dress when I flip? Or do I top-dress a week or two before I flip. And should one topdressing for flower be enough. Ill be adding microbes and molassas in between watering's as well. Or should I top dress again half way through flower. Just not sure if the kelp will break down fast enough. Thanks btw. (30l fabric pot) 1 plant, 2 month veg before flip

Great update thx! Question; regarding saponins/wetting agent I only have aloe vera via homegrown(mostly), but I know people switch to coconut during flower/cut aloe vera off. Is there any negative to using small amounts for saponin content, without overfeeding etc my girls in flower? Thx, happy growin!

How do you use home grown aloe vera? I have some plants but I can't find info on how to use it for plants. Any suggestions?
