@@Splexsychiick How do you know where everyone wants to live? The local governments don't even allow apartments to be built delaying projects for years. You can't assume the current state of US cities is because of free choice and not bad zoning regulations. And who are you to force people to spread out? A central planner? Just allow people to build whatever type of housing and the market will speak for itself.
>1300 for 1 bdr >2300 for 2bdr. Btw, there are low income housing units across the parking lot, all of which have increased to >4000 per 1 bdr unit. The prices increase soon in these apts as well. You'll see. Theyre also demolishing Daly City's only community garden to build one of these trash apt complexes. The garden is home to over 10 percent of the urban canopy Daly city has. Dont believe everything you hear on the news. THEY ARE BUILDING THESE UNITS FOR ONE REASON AND ONE. REASON ONLY: FOR PROFIT.
Yep, they did that down in my area of So Cal. They put in apartment buildings for college professors. The college got tired of managing the property and turned it over to the professionals. No college professors lives there now. It's all low income housing for people one step away from homelessness.
This is also needed in all major cities throughout the U.S. for people who make less than $60k. But a one bedroom should be $900 and a three bedroom $1500; this could help alleviate the housing crisis by forbidding large corporations from purchasing and implementing rent control.
5 years to save for a home? I feel like it’s five years of adult dorm life and then they’ll church through more teachers. I can’t imagine housing outside becoming more affordable after saving five years worth for a down payment.
Kinda sad they should get paid enough to be able to buy a house in a neighborhood of a city they teach in or a neighboring city ... This is the bare minimum. Government needs to treat our teachers better. Without them your children wouldn't have gotten as far as they have!!!
No, cause that would make the housing cost around Daly City to go up more! Lmao do you now know how much a Daly City home cost? They are over 1 million and they are old homes built in the 40’s
I graduated from Westmoor in 1982. Boy, has things changed. Serramonte High closed in my senior year. Good idea to help teachers out with housing especially in California where every thing is so expensive.

Yeah I don’t think anyone would want to have their coworkers be their neighbors. They’ll know everything about your home life. Not to mention, if I see coworkers all day, I don’t want to go home and see them again in the hallway of my apartment.
@@harlock75 I just don’t believe the services you mentioned are worth the rub. I sure don’t like being forced to pay for them by threat of violence. Private sector, free market solutions are best.
Teachers are NOT under compensated. They get many more days off than other occupations, get to retire at a much younger age than most, with a high percentage of their salary continued as a lifetime pension, and very generous retirement health insurance benefits. If teachers retirement benefits were in line with other professions, their salaries would be higher. It’s either receive it now, or defer it, and receive it later. You can’t have it both ways. Teachers, in general, are a bunch of whiners. They promote the liberal agenda that creates the problems they complain about.
I think they did a program like that in California I might be wrong but the homeless individuals they help find a place and paid their rent trashed the place and never got a job continued to do drugs etc. a lot of people choose to be homeless sad reality
The federal government should use the funds from their bloated defense budget to take care of vets. Veterans are the federal government's responsibility but they rather send billions to Ukraine.
We need more apartments in the Bay Area, period. Single family housing accounts for 50% of the land use and is simply not acceptable.

I live in Daly City and this is amazing. I’m so happy to see this building built for teachers. They work so hard to teach our kids.
Daly City is so beautiful, it’s calm like the suburbs and if you have a nice sports car ur only 5 mins away from the city 🌃
Lol, if you have a nice car I suggest you stay away from the city unless you want your windows broken, bumper dented or wheels stolen.
You don’t need a sports car! As long as you have a car your lucky already.
I doubt that 5 years of living there will give them enough $ for a downpayment on a house in the bay area
Is this like living on the plantation.
If your school district has a lot of land why not build dorms for your employees.
What happens after five years? Will the district provide home ownership support with down payment support?
Haha NO
No. The idea is that after a few years, teachers can save up enough to survive without assistance.

Time to demolish those acres upon aces of single family zones instead. Upzone them all.
This is how it's done. Lather, rinse, repeat. America has to treat it's teachers better.

Save enough to buy a home??
5 year cap?
This is the way
$75M. I wonder how much it would cost to use the money to pay them more
Useless paying them more if housing prices in the Bay Area continue to skyrocket.
What's amazing we need more of these

With a teacher’s salary the home they could be possibly saving for us out of state. Even 100k a year doesn’t cut it over here.
It may not be a perfect solution but it’s a step in the right direction.
This is fecking awesome 🙌💯
This gave me goosebumps! Id like to think I can become a teacher one day and make a livable wage
why not a bond measure just to pay them more?
Now what about the rest of us?
Time for more government housing a la Singapore, I guess.

I’m with teachers all day, and while this is great, I need a break from teachers I work with when I’m home so I’d want a diverse building.
That's wonderful!
Why not sell them the units?!

What happens when they become ex-teachers?
Why do teachers only get to live there 5 years? Where will they go after that?

Idk why if they can afford it
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Unfortunately, many have lost respect for teachers and the teaching industry. 😕.
Preschool teachers make even less!

Good.
Are we still pretending teachers aren’t running the democrat party?
Who cares about the teachers how about our literal combat veterans with Purple Hearts on the streets not on drugs with proo they are combat vets?
