been havig a hard time with my BMW one day I started it and it was shaking rough and misfiring and would go up to 1,500 RPM just sitting there. Started throwing tones of codes of misfire, VANOS sensors, Running to lean, Not enough pressure, drive train. Just a whole load of codes. I took my car apart and as soon as I touched that Frall hose it just cracked in half. Glad I watched this video I have a more narrow rabbbit hole to go digging in order to get my own BMW back on the road. Its still broken as of 12/22/24, this has been the best HOW DIY car video I have wached IN YEARS and I have been fixing my own cars for 15 Years. Thank you and Keep doing what you do! Youve earned my sub for Life.
I've maintained cars for many decades and this is the best how-to video I've seen, to include my own postings. Thank you. A couple of my own lessons learned: Your advice to buy the valve and special spark plug wrench are spot on. I broke my valve but it was one of the tabs that failed rather than the body. I would add blasting compressed air into the spark plug chamber both before removing it and after replacing it (NOT with the cylinder open). There wasn't much debris before removing the plugs but mine shed a lot of grit as I removed them. Blowing it out before installing the coil packs cleaned that up. If you miss something and fix it later in the video, I suggest editing that fix into the earlier time so as to avoid people making the same slip up and then having to go back as you did. That also goes for your good tips like how the coil connector slots into the locking tab. I finished the job with no extra parts, no codes and she runs strong! ;-)
I’ve done 3 different N55s engines with this video . Best of the best . My last vehicle I worked on was a f15 bmw x5 m sport . I broke PVC pipe . Thank god FCP euro has them for $55 . Dealership was $212
Thank you so much for this video. Just got all 6 plugs replaced...your video helped big time in getting "all the plastic cr@p" removed without cracking or breaking. Runs like a champ.
Great video! Very well explained and appreciate the patience showing the detail of the process. I have taken your recommendation and purchase the spark plug socket set …. Don’t want to risk using the straight socket and stripping it. Again, Thank You!
Great video! I had trouble removing the crankcase breather hose on my X5, I had everything off except that and didn't have another hose to replace if I broke the one already on the car. I gave up. I'm ordering two, one for X5 and one for 740i. I'm going to tackle this on the weekend.

That’s great that it can be a reference for other series and models. And yeah dealership prices are crazy expensive.
Thank you very much for posting this. It was incredibly helpful. I would’ve had a very difficult time without it.

I have a toque wrench but trying to figure out where the numbers go on the wrench not sure
Pull the sleeve just above the handle and twist it until you get to torque value you want. 23NM for the spark plugs.

Did you use the $150 oem plugs or the $10 oe?
I used the Bosch OE plugs on this one. I don’t remember the price for all 6
What’s the name of that part you said cracks? Lol
It’s called a vent pipe in the BMW parts catalog.
