- This.... this is EPIC!! Because you demanded it! It's a two part episode on the John Hughes canon! OUTSTANDING! And we couldn't have been more excited about a topic like this. Seriously. It beats Italian zombie flicks.
How the heck could you not like The Breakfast Club, man!
Actually Eric Cohen is probably the most film-literate panel member - it's just that they are the later Gen Xers who finished high school in the nineties, rejecting the eighties and worshipping Tarantino was the rage.
Weird Science is actually the 4th movie with AM Hall. Vacation, Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club, and Weird Science.
I think you guys should revisit "Breakfast Club". It's John Hughes' best film, in my opinion. It's a film of mostly dialog, with only a handful of actors in mostly one room, for two hours. That's not easy to make an interesting story of just a small group of characters who just talk inside one room for most of the film. It reminds me somewhat of the great "Twelve Angry Men", for the same reason. But you guys are right about the teacher. That actor steals the film for me.
rip john hughes. planes trains automobiles, classic
WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU GUYS? I miss Edwin saying Ricardo MONTOBEEON! YOU GUYS NEED TO GET BACK TOGETHER FOR A REUNION!!! I miss all the laughs.
Breakfast Club is one of the best, and my favorite Hughes movie.
Like the others, It was unique in it's own way, but ultimately had classic JH feel. The music, the style, the drama, the comedic moments, the full characterisation, the sweet ending.
Like the others, giving a great reference to what it was like in the 80's. In this case
, being released in1987.
Yeah, I think I have to agree with you Yellow, it seems a lot of things Hughes wrote into his movies went right over these guys heads...
If you haven't seen Happy Accidents, check it out. It has AM Hall and is a recent film. He only has a cameo and plays himself, but he looks so different now.
You guys are really tough on the Vacation sequels. Christmas Vacation is fucking hilarious!!!
Christmas vacation is a classic, and has aged very well. A heck of a lot better than this video.
He will be missed..R.I.P John
Near Dark is Bill Paxton's best performance.
From now on I'm gonna argue that Candy's wife is in the trunk...what a great idea lol.
In all seriousness, Planes trains is one of my favourite comedies with probably one of the most ballsy endings to a film I've ever seen.
William Holden as Ferris Bueller? WTF?!
William Holden hahhahha.Wow i laughed so hard on that one.
Deborah Pollack was Long Duk Dong's girlfriend by the way, not Huston.
One False Move-1992-Bill Paxton's Masterpiece,GOD rest his soul:)
Chevy Chase's last funny films are three amigos Christmas vacation & spies like us.
You are way off on some things. I don't think you know what a cameo is; Imogene Coca in Vacation had quite a part in Vacation, and John Candy's part is pretty substantial as well. Not huge, but calling it a cameo just isn't fair. Don't know about snubbing the Christmas Vacation movie, too. Doesn't seem fair, if only for its reputation as one of the modern christmas classics.
I also think you really underrated the Breakfast Club. Sure, it can be a polarizing film, but you're just focussing on a couple of weaker stuff and completely misrepresenting about Estevez' scene and the ending. I haven't seen your other stuff (and probably won't) but by the looks of these analyses it sounds like you don't pay attention to the movies you watch at all.
Compared to previous efforts. It seemed more serious & tense in a lot of areas. However, still having many similarities & common themes throughout.
I've only just discovered the film fairly recently & have only watched it once so far. This film should have got way more of a mention. It completes the double trilogy perfectly. Check out the 2 excellent three film special edition DVD collections for proof.
how can you hate on the chevy?!
9:32 my favorite part of the discussion..very funny!
How come this part has much more views than the second part?
Because people realized these clowns are lame by the end of this one and didn't want to bother with part 2.
It's easy to pick apart John Hughes movies, but no writer director in Hollywood can do what Hughes did, fact.
Foltz - what a CHEST
Does Eric Cohen not do talks with you guys anymore cause I haven't seen him on the more recently uploaded videos.
i'm sorry...did these guys ever 'make it, in film?' if so, great. if not, they've gotta lotta balls. i don't recall any of their films. seem like typical burn out nyc...
you guys are amateurs and your reasons for disliking his movies are ridiculous!
04:58 That's Mike's line!
3:06 Shouldn´t that the "Michael The Fonz" instead?
christmas vacation is insanely funnier than the original vacation.
While I agree a lot of Chevy Chase stuff is painfully unfunny, he was good in Caddy Shack (which was ensemble and not a CC film per se) and Fletch (certainly a CC vehicle). Christmas Vacation was pretty funny too. In the end, a little CC goes a long way as the humor is all pretty much one note. I wouldn't want to watch a CC film festival even if made up of Caddy Shack, Vacation, and Fletch.
These guys get the facts wrong about Hughes movies.
@colemartinst123 Thank you i just try to put my opinion out there it is not law
John Hughes deserves a lot better than these guys. This did not age well.
@thejobloshow i actually love 80's films and only like tarantino
Jeff is the only one there who i think is the real movie fan. Hes the only one there ho can admitt that just because he doesnt like a film doesnt mean its badly made. i like this show though.
Who's William Holden?
Whoever asks that needs a clue.
Somebody finally said that! Imho Breakfast Club is sooo overrated!
This would be cool if...
...Nope, sorry this was terrible and more like a bad date.. You just want it to end..
Wrong.
LOl watching films for nudity is so lame
Knocking the Breakfast Club. wtf. unsub'd right away. You ladies need to get some insight and taste.
