The 80's was such a great time in history. The music was fantastic and Debbie Gibson was a superstar in those days. I always admired her because she wrote her own music and didn't dress like today's singers. She was recognized for her talent versus the amount of skin showing. Unlike today's artists, and I use the term loosely, Debbie didn't rely on vocoders and other electronic foolery to sound great. What you saw & heard was all Debbie through and through. It seems this art is being lost over time, as artists rely more on technology to sound great than their own abilities allow. Indeed this was truly a great time to be alive :)

She also loved George Michael and Wham! and wrote her song in the same vein as "Careless Whisper". she was in the middle of recording her debut LP "Out Of The Blue" in June/July of '87 when she asked George to produce this song (he declined because he was recording his own debut "Faith") so she at the age of 16 years and 11 months (she turned 17 on August 31, just before starting her senior/grade 12 year in High School) she recorded/performed/and ALONE produced "Foolish Beat" which almost a year later (June 25, 1988, the day before her graduation from HS) hit #1 on the Billboard charts. she maintaines a Guiness record for being the youngest person (17 years 10 months) to write/record and produce a #1 Billboard song, almost 29 years later.

She is a fantastic woman she knows to do everything alone, she is awesone, she has only 17 years old when she composed,produced and she make the first albun. Have you ever loved someone, who you haven't seen in 10 years and wondered, how are they?? She helped make and mold me into the man, I am today. I was actually at this particular concert with my sister. It was at the A.J. Palumbo Center in Pittsburgh, PA. A lot of fond memories of that night. Miss Gibson put on a wonderful, entertaining show. She was very professional & gracious to the audience. I always thought she was very talented & her music was a big part of my life during my high school years & beyond. I also liked that she looked & acted her age and was someone young girls could look up to.
