I served 26 years in the United States Navy and retired as an E8 Senior Chief and one thing we will never do is criticize another veteran no matter what branch their are in or what political party they represent. Serving honorably is the key plus after 20 years we can do what ever we want in our military career.
I agree. Now, I love the inter service rivalries that have been ongoing for decades. It's all in good natured fun. It's like having a group of siblings. WE can make fun of each other all we want (good natured) but nobody else gets that privilege lol So, to see Vance trying to get political cookies by attacking another veterans service is just another day of him showing everyone who he is. The governor is right. Everyone in the military has a role to play to make it successful. There is no place to demean someone's services when they have served their country and are honorably discharged. Shame on Vance for him to be like Trump, who called service members losers and suckers.
I am glad someone is finally addressing the issue of why the National Guard has been sent to foreign deployment. That has always seemed to me like something doesn"t smell right!
It's been going on since WW2! Here is what google says: "During World War II, National Guard units participated in 34 separate campaigns and numerous assault landings in the European and Pacific Theaters of Operation". BTW these days (maybe back then too) Nat Guard military members are paid the same as active-duty folks while they are deployed, so I guess that is kind of a "perk" I guess.

@@Airsoftcleaner a little "off topic" but when Afghanistan/Iraq kicked off the Army (not sure about the other branches) recalled a lot of members who were on their mandatory IRR (Individual Ready Reserve) and sent them to the sandbox. One was one of my former Company Commanders (a Black Hawk helicopter pilot) who got out of the Army shortly after 9-11 and was working on her master's degree. Too bad, so sad lady! She had to put her further education on hold for a bit. There's a big demand for trained & experienced pilots. I happened to run into her when I was in Iraq and her aviation unit happened to be running missions at our airfield for a while.

Many military personnel and most civilians fail to realize that a 24 year service member cannot just say I am out of here and leave. If the soldier wants to retire they must submit a request for retirement. If that service member is in a critical position and if it is important for that soldier to remain in the services to complete a mission the request for retirement will be DENIED. If his unit allowed Walz to retire, they didn't need him for the mission. A retired service-member can also be recalled to active duty. So if CSM Walz retired before the Guard realized they needed him for deployment they could have RECALLED him to active duty.
I have no military experience except after graduated in college for an Army Reserve training in my previous home country, and as far as I remember the law/rules/policy that we have are similar. Thanks for making it clear and saying it louder to us without military experience, Thank you very much❤❤❤

Vance said, and what CNN is indicating are two different things is why people don't trust M.S.M. J.D. Vance never attacked Waltz for being a veteran or serving.
