I thought you got the old VOS Les Paul back! 🤪 I’ve been on the hunt for a P90 equipped guitar for some time and this is really what I’ve been wanting as far as the tones and the look. The coil taps adds another level of tone textures to this good looking guitar! My only complaint is the availability of this guitar to the US with Artist Guitars. I completely understand the complexity of shipping inventory, even before supply shortages due to world events, but it is a shame nonetheless. Hopefully one will cross my path in the future, or I’ll just head on over to Australia when it’s possible 😁!!! Another solid demo Shane!! Cheers!🎸🎸🎸😎😎

It needed nothing from me the day I got it except to be tuned up and played. I love it and plan on buying another 66 DLX Plus. I'm just not sure if I want the iced tea burst - looking guitar they just put up or if I want the P90 gold top to go with my current GT.

Hi Shane, i've been waiting for this one, looks and sounds awesome. As an Artist fanboy its gonna be in the Christmas sack for sure. As usual sound and camera superb and love the track. Cheers Paul.
The supply chain certainly has made getting Artist guitars tough in the US. Additionally you can’t get the Les Paul style guitar in the States due to copyright issues which is a bummer because I have a TC 59 that I was fortunate enough to get last year and it sounds great. I’d really like to be able to try this model. Thanks for the demo Shane!
I have one of the batch just released in September 2022 and it's more of a burnt orange colour than gold. The one Shane is playing was obviously painted with a different paint colour than mine. The colour of mine is similar (in any light) to the colour you can see in this video at the 0:29 second mark. Still, I like it - it's a very nice guitar, plays well and has all the other good features Shane mentions - I just wouldn't call it a 'gold top'.

Thankyou SO much Shane and Artist Guitars you have helped me through these tough times. Cheers
Awesome playing Shane. Nice backing track. I've noticed that different guitars inspire different styles in your playing, which is great. Well done sir. Great sounding guitar!

I'm definitely going to get one of these(when they're in stock). Quick question though, how were the frets on it. Any real sharp edges? as I noticed they did the gibson thing with the fret ends.
Fantastic demo, brother and the sound is awesome, through my headphones. Been buying Artist gear since 2014 so, this gold top is definitely on the list for Xmas.
@@kaindog1007 I ended up returning mine cause the one I got had a really loose input jack and scratched up fret board and I liked the Artist Stealth that I ordered at the same time more because I mainly play metal and those active pickups sound really good with distortion. It was a long time ago but from memory I thought the TC59 bullbuckers had a more full and pleasing sound and were more versatile than the P 90s which sounded a bit tinny and thin to me - but like I said I did end up returning my LP59GT90 so it might have not been working properly
These things don't stay in stock, I can tell you that. Been buying Artist gears for yonkers. Got notified about the new stock of Thinline Butterscotch Blonde teles late one evening, I think this was late last month. Went to buy the next morning they were all gone!
I have the LP59 in Cherry Sunburst and these guitars definitely feel like they are worth about $1000-$1200 AUD it's easily on par with my Epiphone inspired by Gibson ebony explorer and that's a great guitar.
I have two , this one and a Telecaster from a charity shop for $100 each brand new , I also own both of the real ones $0000 , these Artists sound so good if not better , I love them , even if they are left handed , swapped strings around now upside-down, and yea great🎸
If anyone's interested in this for a left hander, it's a great time to buy! Until the end of the year (31/12/2023), it's on sale for $300 AUD which looks like an absolute steal to me.
Chords sound fine and in tune with the Artist GT90. I had a Yamaha Revstar P90's - beautifully made (heavy) and single notes excellent but chords never sounded in tune the overtones clashed. Whether it was the body or the pickups I don't know. Had your jam track going round in my head for a little while!
I tried to register on the Aussie website but couldn't because my address is in the US. So I looked up their US website and everything was sold out! Now I really have the blues!
@intheblues Shane great review video. Would you recomend this version with P90's over the CSB bullbucker version? Which did you enjoy playing more? They both look pretty similar but the pickups may make a difference?
I love this guitar but I want Artist to bring out a semi-hollow body with those P90s in it😛I already have an Artist Black58IIX with split Bullbuckers I absolutely love🤘🎸
Amazing tones out of that Beautiful instrument. Cool guitar and nice playing Shane. Blues On....💙 PS. How does a coil tap work on a P90 ? I thought it was a fat signal coil.
These pickups have two separate coil windings, they are "stacked" one on top of the other, so it is a "humbucking" configuration, but with the two coils on top of each other instead of being side by side. Also the terminology is wrongly used by many people (Shane included), a "coil tap" is where there is a defined point in the winding of the coil which has a connection terminal, so that when the output of the pickup is "tapped" there is only part of the coil being used, not the full number of windings. In the case of "coil splitting" this usually refers to two separate coils, which in the humbucker pickup are connected (usually is series, but can be in parallel), and when the pickup is used in "split" mode it means that the two coil windings are "split" from each other and only one of them is used. Of course this distinction can be ignored if the two coil windings of the humbucking pickup configuration is considered to be "one coil", in which "coil tapping", then becomes a legitimate way of describing the separating of the two coil windings, but this is not what is usually meant by a "coil tap", however the common usage of the term "coil tap" has blurred the distinction and makes explanations such as this somewhat irrelevant!
Would love to know how you think this compares to a Gibson. Obviously it's only about 10% of the price of a Gibson Les Paul Standard so I'd expect it to be nowhere near. But the tones in your video sound absolutely fantastic, and pretty much on par with the Gibsons I've played. Would love to know if it really is that good, or just great tone dialling in and great production?
@@DavidBrown-bc4fu Thanks for the reply, really appreciate it. Guess I need to order one then! with the awesome return policy they have I guess I've got nothing to lose anyway.
Stacked P90's and P100, are they the same? In the video, the body looks a bit thinner compare to "G"LP, am I right? One thing that kind of off is the position of the pots, they don't look arranged properly. Anyway, nice sounding and nice playing as always 👍👍👍
Great playing as always. I love to see how much fun you have while playing! I always like your backing tracks and see the computer in the background. What music software are you using?
Yeah, that was an odd choice of screw. Really out of place. Look at 6:39 in the vid, about as close a look as I found. The pickup screws don't look quite as as obtrusive as before, but I'd need to see a better close up to be sure.
I had another look - these do look different to the original screws used. These appear have a rounded head. Note that the Artist website still shows the pickups with those odd flathead screws.
@@doogledog1740 You may be right. They look more like the real deal. Although maybe they sent a "special" one to Shane, or the lefties are screwed together properly.
I wish we could get them here in the US. Been waiting for them since June. Would love that one. It's what I've been looking at for a while now. Guess I'll have to look at another brand. I was going to buy 2 artist brand guitars but I guess not.
Great demo Shane! I also enjoyed your other demos about Artist guitars. So many cool options and they seem to be a great bang for the buck. Love how those P90s sound but also the TC59 got my attention. It looks I may have to toss a coin! From all the guitars from Artist you have tried, what’s your favourite?
Bloody things are never in stock for us leftys in the uk even on the mailing list for stock! Only thing that came into stock was the jazmaster style p90. Really wanna try the humbucker lp from artist. They look on par with harley benton.
I’m in the U.K. and have the LP59 Les Paul with the Bullbucker humbuckers, fantastic guitar and a very authentic looking Les Paul too! The tuners although locking are not as precise as they could be but holds tune well once set and I’d prefer a better bridge, a Tonepros or Gotoh but not urgent. I’ve added a pick guard to mine as I feel a Les Paul looks naked without one, put a “V” in the headstock and added the gold “Les Paul Model” script to the headstock with a 2 screw trussrod cover (all from eBay) The pickups are considerably better than those on a Harley Benton and are clones of the Seymour Duncan Jazz/JB set, it’s a much more authentic copy and compares favourable with guitars costing several times the price!
Seems like a lot of guitar for the money. Sounds great. Sticklers will probably take issue with the shade of the Gold Top. Not saying I do... but some people... y'know...sticklers. ;)
The site (USA LINK) does not have one single traditional single cutaway Les Paul style guitar of any kind on it. Saving the USA-based folks some time here. ☹️
Beauty of a gold top, but unavailable in North America. I haven't seen more than 1 or 2 guitars available at Artist USA site for over a year. They have to do better getting their product over or stop GASlighting us.
Just checked the USA website, they have two acoustics in stock and that's it, everything else is sold out, has been for months. This guitar is not even listed. Good Luck.
Nice! The place that makes my Goldtop is about to release a P90 version. They just put it up on their website and it looks great! Somehow, it looks even better than my GT w/ humbuckers lol. Yea, I want one. They also just put a burst on their website, too, like a week prior to putting the P90 Goldtop on there so now I'm not sure what I should get...a new color with humbuckers again or the same color guitar with different pickups. Hmmmm.
I just got one of these guitars just a few weeks ago early October. Had to wait 6-7 months for them to be available here in the UK and within literally a couple of day's they were sold out. So they sell out fast or they don't get much stock in. But tremendous guitars with great specs for a modest amount of money. Got 4 now LP59TSB Les Paul this gold top Les Paul ST62 Stratocaster and TC59 telecaster great guitar but heavy as hell
No stock in Europe unfortunately, a damn shame cause I was looking for a decent goldtop '56 type for a long time now. There's an Eko VL480 GT that seems ok also, but very little info on the web apart from couple short vids. Plus, component wise it's definitely built more affordable than this - basswood body, hardware that seems really cheap etc. Good for an upgrade project maybe....

I’ve added a pick guard to mine as I feel a Les Paul looks naked without one, put a “V” in the headstock and added the gold “Les Paul Model” script to the headstock with a 2 screw trussrod cover (all from eBay)
The pickups are considerably better than those on a Harley Benton and are clones of the Seymour Duncan Jazz/JB set, it’s a much more authentic copy and compares favourable with guitars costing several times the price!
Apparently not sold in the US.
Hi Shane, what are your thoughts on the differences in sound of this LP compared to the Humbucker version?.
Les Paul, P90s, Gold Top. Nythe.
Seems like a lot of guitar for the money. Sounds great. Sticklers will probably take issue with the shade of the Gold Top. Not saying I do... but some people... y'know...sticklers. ;)
Aka SNOBS!
The site (USA LINK) does not have one single traditional single cutaway Les Paul style guitar of any kind on it. Saving the USA-based folks some time here. ☹️
Yeah, I just reached out to customer support to see if it was available in the U.S. I would love to get my hands on this.
Wonder if Gibby, issued a cease & desist for the US market.
@@brianmckenzie1318 Most likely. Same reason why you guys don't get Tokai or Edwards Les Paul style guitars
Beauty of a gold top, but unavailable in North America. I haven't seen more than 1 or 2 guitars available at Artist USA site for over a year. They have to do better getting their product over or stop GASlighting us.
Great..Now I'm going to get one of these Shane... I'll hide it in a receipt..🤣Mrs proof🤘🎸
I finally pulled the trigger. cant afford a Gibson.👍
bet yuu would make broom sound guud 😆
Just checked the USA website, they have two acoustics in stock and that's it, everything else is sold out, has been for months. This guitar is not even listed. Good Luck.
Can't decide between this or the lp59 with coil split and kill switch.. or at least which to get first..
Hmmmm.
Checked out the site here in the UK they are out of stock
Ah damn, they had a few recently listed as in stock. Keep an eye on it :)
I’d love to get my hands on one of these, but I imagine the shipping to Ireland would be far too expensive
Artist have a UK website for ordering!
@@ces69 Thanks I’ll check it out, but with the UK now no longer a member of the European Union buying anything from England is an absolute nightmare
Looks physicaly identical to the Harley benton GT I own. Specs are different. The gold is more bronze than the traditional GT
The best part....does not have the dump Epiphone headstock shape!
Left-handed guitars just look odd. I don't think I'll ever get used to them.
But maybe that's just me.
i like dhis more then HB guitars
Shane, please tell them to ship to africa!!
