The new year is 2020.. still loving, jammin and listening to this classic with the awesome old school music power of MTV and New Jack Swing
OLD SKOOL MUSIC IS STILL THE BEST MUSIC
OK I like it I did hear this some time way back
I LOVE this version! Oh my goodness!💖💖💖💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥 P funk, uncut funk, the bomb 💣🔥💖
I saw them do this at the then Holiday Star Plaza in Indiana back in like 1989 or 1990, maybe 1991. I even had the chance to meet up with George and Stanley later and had some champagne with them. I was born in 65 and told them I had been listening to their music since I was 8, thanks to my older sibs. They told me I made them feel old but they were cool with it.
Dennis Chambers on Drums!!
That's what I said. Wow !
Yesssss 😆
I'm glad to see George Clinton team up with his past rivals. George Duke whom he once called George Dukey and Philip Bailey whom he once called Philip's group Earth, Hot Air And No Fire!
Funky Jam though!
Yeah, Those were the brainchild of P-Funk album cartoonist, Pedro Bell: "Trick James", "George Puke", etc... Clinton actually dispatched Bootsy Collins to George Duke's backstage to bestow upon him a "License To Practice Funk", signed by Dr. Funkenstein himself. I love both versions of this song. P-Funk is P-Funk and nothing more need be said. But Clarke/Duke's version has a swing to it that the original lacks, albeit in a far sparser production. I met Mr. Duke and his lovely wife, Corine back in 2010 and hung out with them for a week onboard a cruise ship and spent some time with him again the following year. The year after that, Corine passed away. The following year, there went George. It's still a raw nerve. I miss them both every day.
Dirt, poot, and fire.
Just SEE'N DENNIS MAKES ME HAAAAPYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!
I love the Jam, and that tall slim-goodie, in the short black dress.
2023 almost ending and this song is still jammin
Watercolors played this. I didn't know whoit was.i kept looking and found this.65 year old still groovin
Didn't know this was out
Pure classic. Brings back memories
How i missed this one until today?
Back in the day, the funky aliens onboard the mothership brought down the Funk like no one. As a bass player, I see this in this video a legendary bassist paying tribute to Boogie Mosson, Billie Bass Nelson, & Bootsy Collins.
The new year 2020.. still loving, jammin and listening to this classic with the awesome old school music power of MTV and New Jack Swing 😎🎸🎹🎼🎊📀🎧🎤⚡️🎶

Stanley Clarke, George Duke - Mothership Connection
This is a seriously funky, slammin, jammin, syncopated version of the "MOTHERSHIP CONNECTION", all maxed out and funked up!!!
From the Great album Clarke Duke 3 ...listen all album!
This is a testimony to all funk-based music and gutty, grimy Jazzy, R&B/SOUL, all started by Miles Davis after seeing a Sly & the Family Stone show, from there H. Handcock, Duke, Clarke, Billy Cobham, EW&F, and followed by every other progressive and funk Jazz bands everywhere. This song is Supergroovealisticprosafunkacation!!! Thanks!!

That was Dennis Chambers on the drums. Not sure if he actually played on this track or was just there for the video. He's a monster either way.
@@davenatale850 its just remix
@@oholm09 I guess what I was trying to say is that he was on the live show, just not sure if he was on the original recording. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
So were just gonna act like that isnt Phillip Bailey from Earth Wind and Fire singing back up?
I be dipped in buttermilk lol
Back in Chicago, Don Juan and the players
funny cuz P-Funk sounds fresh to this day and New Jack Swing sounds dated af now
Capital Centre 1975
Reel musicians,Real Superior talent,U DIG,No computers allowed on the floor,U actually have to know how to play an instrument.
is that Carter Beauford from the Dave Matthews band on drums ?
No. Its Dennis Chambers (who was an influence on Carter, but very much a different type of percussion animal).

Dennis first big gig in the early and mid 80's was with P-Funk all stars.
👃
So were just gonna act like George Clinton isnt present in this video?
I didn't know that Barack Obama could play bass and had some funk blood running thru his veins??
I hope You're joking.

I hope hope You're joking.
The LP version is better and has a great drum solo intro with Dennis Chambers
