I love his impersonations. I went to see David Benson and Jack lanes "Dads army radio show" Thinking it would not be as good as the tv show. I was blown away at the fast change of characters, the voices, and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Its not easy copying these icons but I take my hat off to all these guys.
The American version REALLY IS best left unmentioned.... ....as I failed there I'd also like to unmention their Red Dwarf(a kind of new age Star trek with about as much humour involved as a hungry Tiger Shark feeding)and Steptoe and Son versions too! Just like a Harold Robinson novel!
THAT was amazing! I agree with Kieran Johnson: I wish he'd tried doing the voices of Godfrey, Walker and Jonesy. He could probably knock them out of the park, too.
I didn't quite catch the phrase towards the end 1:41 something about if you're going to be rude to the vicar I'm going to have to turn into Andy.........which I did not catch. Sub titles were not much good either. Apart from that I loved the impressions - I would have thought one of the impressions would have been of Corp. Jones.
I think he says something along the lines of....."I'm going to have to turn into Andy Parsons with no apparent reason other than to end this routine."...He does change from Edward Sinclair (verger Maurice Yeatman) to Andy Parsons (stand-up comic)
Ah - thanks for that apollo, 2 months I have been waiting for a reply to my query. The reason I didn't catch it was that I have never heard of Andy Parsons - off to Google him now!!
Just listen to this without watching it .. sound only and you’ll see the effect it has .. in your mind you’ll see all the characters ... you won’t see Ali
Permission to speak sir!! What it is Jones? Fiona - what a lovely name... Don't tell him Pike! -- Pike!... your name will also go on the list! Classic lines, just superb script writing and acting. I'm going to tell the vicar! You ruddy hooligan, napoleon! I do dislike that man Wilson!
rrrrubbish shhheeeeer rrrrubish! Actually his Wilson, Frazer, Pike, Hodges and farthing is very good. Mainwaring is ok and his verger is average. I do a fantastic Mainwaring
I saw Alistair McGowan live. Very disappointing. He spent ages doing different football managers. The only one I recognised was Alex Ferguson. I think most of the audience felt the same way.
his impressions only touch near the character. nothing is "spot on" and his voice barely changes. crap impressions compared to a lot of others I've seen
Ha ha ha, this was absolutely hilarious and spot on. I’m a huge fan of Dad’s Army and loved these wonderful impressions.
Wilson is spot on!
Brilliant, genius impressions
Alistair McGowan is the best UK impressionist hands down. No one else is as consistent as him.
The reverend is so hard to take off, but he did that effortlessly. Also never noticed how much Mr. Yeatman sounds like Andy Parsons!
who is andy parsons?
His Wilson and Fraser were spot on I almost wish he'd attempted Godfrey, Walker and Jones
walker always was my favourite. left me in tears with his jokes.
He could make a whole episode on his own for the radio and save the BBC a fortune
probably couldn't do them, just used the ones he could do
Absolutely excellent !

Very good, the tempo and style of all the characters was spot on, "stupid boy".....................
I watched the whole thing waiting for “Don’t panic! DON’T PANIC!”
But it never came.
Hodges, Wilson and Fraser was spot on hahaha
More dad's army please!!!! You're spot on. Great, do more!!
They need to make a new Dad's Army...and you could play all the parts!
They made a new film and that sucked
Brilliant, loved it 😅
Alistair - I recall seeing you do John Le Mes on TV many years ago - these are all fabulous !!!
🤣🤣😅😂😃😃😅🤣😆😆😆😆😁😁 bloody hilarious well done!!! If they did an animation of dads army he could do all the voices.
Jawdroppingly good.
Brilliant 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻 . God bless
Very, very good. And funny.
Fantastic...... I’m a big DA fan and I enjoyed this s!
He is very good
This guy had the Vicar, the Verger, and Warden Hodges down pat. Not so much with Pike though.
Brilliant amazing Dad's Army. Best ever it cannot be repeated. Also congratulations Alistair McGowan for your perfect impressions!
That was really good ❤❤
RIP Ian Lavender
That is an UNCANNY impression of Arthur Lowe - utterly amazing. Are you sure McGowan isn't channelling him from beyond?!
Loved it! Wish he’d done Walker, Godfrey and Jonesy.
Sadly, no one knows that classic sitcom here in America. ☹️
I’m an American and I love Dad’s Army. Walker was the best character on the show.
@@spudskie3907 he really was, it didn’t feel the same after Beck died.

Loved the Andy Parsons reference!
Very good indeed.
Incredible
Amazing!
Brilliant..... 🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷♥️

Amazing.
I recommend James Hurn's Dad's Army impressions.
Brilliant
Amazing
Very good
frazer is the best!!!
Very good the verger was uncanny....
more then brilliant.
Great except Pike, I couldn't tell who that was

Steve yeah Jones would always be a good impressoon "don't panic!" or "they don't like it up 'em, they Do not like it up 'em sir"

Walmington on Sea was in Kent not East Sussex
@speedbirdconcordeBOAB
So why did they have the Kent Invicta horse on their cap badge.
God hes good
He's excellent, but James Hurn is spot on with the cast.
Not bad ⚡️
Great impersonating plus a very funny script.
I would like to see more old shows with a modern twist
IMPOSSIBILE as we live in a forced red offended culture now,it just wouldn't work.
My sister Dolly's made some ...upsidedown..cake..would you care for some ?...(is all he had to say !)
No Jones , Godfrey or Walker. come on now !!
Don't panic!
This is great crowd are hopeless.
What no Walker?!?
Just listen to this without watching it .. sound only and you’ll see the effect it has ..
in your mind you’ll see all the characters ... you won’t see Ali
Thought he supposed to be doing the Dad's Army characters 🤔
Great stuff. Not quite got Frazer, though.
Ab Fab
Hopless

Dead ringers!...
He's awful.

Poor.
Amazing
