Hard difficulty.
Ruleset:
All weapons have 1 durability, including that of enemies.
All infinite use weapons also have 1 durability.
All staves have 1 durability.
Consumables like vulneraries have the same durability as in the base game.
All purchase costs and sell costs are identical to that of the base game
Saves/reloading/savestates/etc. are all fine.
Game goes until it's softlocked.

The most insane thing about this run is that in Chapter 19 you actually had green units still alive at the end.
Because the enemy weaponry only has one durability (Vine boom), the Green Units could no longer kill themselves.

I think you missed the point, the weapons were the green units all along (Vine Boom)
It's FE8, the concept of dying doesn't exist.
The Duessel grind was actually frightening with how depraved it is.
calculating the worth of items by the # of iron lances you can buy after selling them and constantly ending sentences with "...because it had 1 durability" were choice

This is probably the Excelblem run with the lowest number of casualties, both allied and enemy. If you count weapons, though...

@@robertharris6092at least they were in the one class that could promote into a broken class if you used it right. But yeah, they really wanted to make dark magic bad after it being decent in FE6 and broken if you used it right in FE7, while light magic was made better thanks to most enemies being weak against it. In other words, they made light magic much better, but in turn they did dark magic dirty. A shame.

I still think it’s impressive that there were no guaranteed soft locks on the entire game, not to mention how practically no one died despite not being able to level up at all 😭
I wonder how annoying a max EXP run would be, basically getting the absolute max amount of EXP per map
I mean, the max exp would be rigging dodge exp for tens of thousands of turns to reach level 20 on every unit available as soon as they are recruited. Trying to maximize the amount of possible units to gain exp and promote by recruiting everyone and making sure to grab every promotion item could make for an interesting theoretical play through where you can plan out a potentially max exp route but actually pulling it off would suck.
This is the only run of FE8 where all fucking green units live on chapter 19.
The fact that he drills it into our heads that it's a 1 durability run gets annoying after the first time, since the line only had 1 durability.
...I'll see myself out.

Brave weapons I think had two durability somehow
@@MissingnoleaderThey still had one, they're just programmed to still do both attacks even if durability runs out on the first attack

There is just something incredibly funny about how you narrate these challenged that makes them extra enjoyable to watch.
This was a great series - excited to see what you do next
I think I started hallucinating the vine boom at some point.
Have a scuffed sub. That was truly fun to watch. Just well made all around. Also love the honesty about rewinding to rig. Hope to see more like this

The pacifist strats were hilarious, just breaking weapons with seth's face because they had 1 durability and leaving hordes of harmless units preventing more enemies from spawning and trapping them in nonexistence

Advance wars 1 or 2 campaign but every unit has 1 ammo and also, you cannot capture, if the player controls a factory, airport, or naval port when you start the mission. (Dual Strike and Days of Ruin is likely impossible for this as dual strike has a shit ton of healing crystals and days of ruin having caulder, waylon, etc.)

Iron Lances, truly the greatest form of currency.
Iron axes are a greater store of value and killer axes even better still, but they both pale in comparison to the fiat currency that is phantom summons.

@@shirrenthewanderer414 they are a cost free infinite resource, only costing the turn for your summoner. Turns are infinite. As long as the phantom dies, you're golden.

Do a playthrough where enemy attacks always hit and crit unless a non-crit would kill (in which case the attack could also miss).

@@EphemeralPseudonym I guess so, but it's not like people don't commonly do that for 0% growths, randomizers, ROM hacks, etc. It would take some work to create the mod though-I don't know how much, since I'm not an expert on this sort of thing.
You could always keep track of the numbers yourself and sacrifice any unit who loses its total HP value at recruitment across all maps. Or, you could just go for a damageless or near-damageless run and it wouldn't matter.
@@cullenhutchison6528 0% growths is easy, randomizers use a utility (and Nightmare modules make it accessible anyway), etc
What you suggested would require ASM hacking, I don't think that part of the battle routine is decomped yet
You could modify some routines bundled in skillsys but that *still* requires some ASM
@@EphemeralPseudonym So basically you're saying that it would be complicated. Keeping track of damage numbers would probably be the way to go, although things like enemy AI wouldn't be how it should--for example, units who should be in kill range aren't because it's a new map with HP reset to max.

I too calculate the worth of my possessions by the calculated amount of iron lances they could be sold for. Finance has never been more clear

Excelblem only had 1 durability so thankfully he completed this first-try (allegedly, I don’t have time or am at the right time for the livestreams)
And then I press the subscribe button, but it breaks, because it only had 1 durability
And this is why Durability on Weapons should go away in not just Fire Emblem, but in all SRPGs as it only makes for pointless rationing of mostly Iron and Ranged Weapons. Durability on your Units is more important as to how many hits they can take. Durability on your weapons means making horrible strategical choices on using mostly crappy weapons with high durability against enemies than good weapons with low durability.
Im honestly still impressed 5x was possible with such limited weapons

You cannot know the durability of the weapons because of Heisenberg's uncertainty principle.
However, after trying you can break the principle because it only had 1 durability.
