Yeah, I think with so many content creators rushing to do endgame bosses and epic no-damage kills and whatnot that it can have the side effect of making newer or less extreme players get scared or something. So I think a beginner's view approach would be good to add to the mix of recent Wanda videos!

I really like how you can disassemble her pocket watches for free (except for the Alarming Clock, which loses its shadow fuel). That lets you create weaker watches in the early game, before you're able to craft an Alarming Clock.
Yeah, the extra healing does come in handy when needed. You can also switch between, say, extra ageless watches and a backstep or backtrek, or even make an alarming clock, until you can get more thulecite fragments and then make multiple of whatever you want!
@@salendrak Yup. Seeing as getting 2 gold is pretty easy, I think I'll start off with a backstep watch, until I get enough marble and nightmare fuel for the alarming clock. If I ever get Wanda, that is.

Saw you fighting klaus at the start, you can actually stunlock him with the alarming clock, a lure plant and his stash. If you get him stuck on the plant and stash he will not attack throughout the whole fight making it a lot easier.
That was actually a clip that another channel let me use - I wanted to try giving some shout-outs to other content creators with this video. But yeah, currently Wanda can totally just cheese Klaus with just her alarming clock, even without a lureplant! I really wonder if Klei will fix that or not...
im getting close to being able to weave my first playable character with the spools and was having a difficult time to decide to either weave Wurt or Wormwood. i didnt consider the other 2 because they feel like higher difficulty characters, but now after watching this, i feel like Wanda can be a really fun character to play as casually, especially with how trivial she makes dealing high damages. thanks for complicating my dilemma lol
hahah - my pleasure! I haven't played much of Wormwood or Wortox, but Wurt is pretty delightful. Wanda is a powerhouse though, so if you're really conflicted, I would say just flip a coin. They're all good options - it all depends on how you like to play the game!
You've heard of Ruins rushing but have you heard of Archive rushing? Seriously though, I did a lite version of Archive Rushing and got enough thuelcite for 10 time pieces and now working on clearing it as summer ends.
Yeah, for Wanda rushing the Archives is a GREAT strategy! Other characters don't really benefit from it though because they can't do anything with the Thulecite outside of the regular ruins.
How do you guys find the Archives? I know it's supposed to be the "opposite" of the ruins but I can never find them. I will clear the ruins and kill AFW before I find the archives ):

A tip: Prototype the backtrek watch and deconstruct it using Wanda's tools if you have the materials but not the timepieces for anything else. You can set a waypoint whenever you want as soon as you get the materials for more timepieces since it does require a shadow manipulator to craft.

Not gonna lie - she's a LOT of fun! And those backtrek watches are totally addictive! Any time I play someone else I find myself wanting to warp somewhere...and can't....and am sad LOL
playing wanda i realise that 90% of food consumption on this game is to heal health or sanity. since she has her unique heal mechanics, needs lots of nightmare fuel and can kill crawling horrors so easily, you can easily survive with meatballs. therefore i don't think even a begginer would need a drying rack, just the meat from hound waves should give you enought food to keep going. but it's just my opinion, not criticizing or anything like that. great video, i like the begginer aproach, i not really one, but i'm far to be a pro. i would really apreciated to know earlier that the bacltrack watch it's hard to use (for people familiarized with kitting), it would saved me some life givings...
I honestly wish I would have had more time to play as her before making this video though, as even with a few more hours playing as Wanda there are already at least a couple of things I would change in that video. I largely like drying racks for a sanity option and to simply make meat last longer. But even though once I get established I find that I have jerky going bad before I can use it all the time. And of course once you get a bundling wrap all those considerations go out the window, but for the most part I don't think too many beginner's or lower-experience players tend to down the Bee Queen very early, if at all!

I honestly feel like I’m somehow both a Veteran as well as a Beginner for specific Wanda. (Mainly me damn well knowing with enough ageless watches, one can be practically immortal.)

@@salendrak you can constantly switch to Wanda and farm pieces like Wanda - Wanda - Wanda but not Wanda - Random character - Wanda. I dont know exactly should you store pieces at chest when switching because every time you switch, character drops all its items on the ground. I always drop time pieces next to postern for safety purposes.
I guess you could skip the archives and the ruins altogether early on in favour of Lunar island. I mean that is a lot of purple gems however so seems kind of like a chicken-egg problem. First time piece always goes to the alarming clock first (which in itself is a purple gem). So you would have to either locate bishops on the surface or dig all the graves and get good RNG to get a few more purple gems. Or how do you do it?
How do you guys deal with mobs? Sometimes I'll be in a spider forest and just a little bit of lag and I'm as good as dead. I play on console (Switch) so switching gears is a little difficult. That and old Wanda management. Even with say dark armor + a thucelite crown you still have what, 10 or so hits versus a strong boss or a medium boss with a mob (like Bee Queen)? What does ultimate late game Wanda look like? I'm guessing something like bone armor and garlic powder?
@@salendrak It's almost impossible on a shitty console imo to be a good Wanda player. That said, playing solo I would say there are three key moments for Wanda. The first is the alarming clock. The second is when you start creating a worm hole to the ruins. The third is acquiring the bone armor. Even a single bone armor and a thucelite crown makes very easy work of both bosses and mobs. A second one makes her feel like a God. I used to hate playing Wanda late-game until I started to use bone armor(s) regularly.
Maybe! Though for most character the early game is basically the same. I felt like Wanda warranted a special version though due to her truly unique characteristics. But yeah - I'll definitely be doing more DST guides as time goes on!

Other than character updates and new characters (so far only Wanda and Webber) I haven't really started to officially cover DST, but I'm hoping to get into that as a more regular thing before too much longer. @@salendrak technically all characters are free, just be part of the active community (the AFK twitch community lol) or redeem the klei coins from the forums and get all of em for free using spools redeemed from the Kiel shop with coins! (I personally didn't spend 1 dime on characters!)

Ty would appreciate it ALOT!

Wanda is a premium character that can only be purchased or "woven" using spools you get from unravelling other items you have. You can get her basically for free, but it might take a while to get enough stuff to unravel to get her. But the more you play, the more spools you'll be able to get!
Nope! New world Wanda starts with an Ageless watch, and 3 Time Pieces, and that's it! The tools are the item used to make new timepieces and to disassemble already made watches.
@@salendrak Ah. I think I heard that she starts off with the tools from somewhere. Maybe they were just referring to the tools being easily craftable early game? Guess I misunderstood them.
Combined Status, Minimap, and probably Epic Health Bars. Maybe a few other utility mods. Can't remember if I was using geometric placement at that point or not, but I always use it now. I generally keep my mod list pretty short though.
There's always more spools you can get in the future! I got a couple of good ones the other day, though I can never bring myself to unravel anything if I don't have a duplicate...
I'm still on the fence on whether or not I think she's OP or not. Certainly very strong, but her downsides do somewhat limit her, which is a good thing!
Coming up next! Probably won't be too exciting for veterans like you though, as it's just about King Slime. But I never did him before and he was sad and feeling left out LOL

Pretty sure that one is Epic Health Bars. I usually only have it on for bosses, but left it on for demonstrating Wanda's damage output.
Also, you can easily farm time pieces and ageless clocks with moon rock idols

Practice practice practice! As for lag - yeah, that can definitely be a problem.

I think it was Epic Healthbar, but there are several mods out there that do stuff like that.

What mods are you using
Combined Status, Minimap, and probably Epic Health Bars. Maybe a few other utility mods. Can't remember if I was using geometric placement at that point or not, but I always use it now. I generally keep my mod list pretty short though.
