The Mullins & Westley name for snuff is relatively recent. Formerly the name was known for cigarette brands only. 'The Tobacco Notifications for Great Britain' is a useful guide, not only for who actually manufactures the product, but where different names are used for an identical snuff. In this case 'Mature Crumbled' is identical to Wilsons of Sharrow’s 'Gold Label' in all but name and price. The name Mature Crumbled is new but Gold Label, according to former MD, Mark Chaytor in his book The Wilsons of Sharrow, is the oldest snuff manufactured by the company which has not been changed since the 18th century and it still uses the traditional Kentucky leaf. It is the only snuff by Sharrow to do so.
Just received a tin of this today. Such a beautiful aroma in the tin. The citrus and botanical element is perfectly balanced with the leaf. Great texture and ideal moisture. One of my favorites so far.
Well described review mate, have been looking forward to this one as mature crumbled is literally my favorite. Lucky to live by the Segar snuff shop, the owner is a delight to talk to, an old school Londoner who's happy to talk and tell you about anthing really - from cuban politics to COVID concerns last time! Never finished a whole tin up to the end, until discovering this one! 🤓👍
Indeed. Almost a month after my first "taste" of it, this is _The_ SP for me. (I may be wrong in classifying it as an SP, but that seems right...) It will be a mainstay on my desk from here on.
@@simplysnuff6512 It seems increasingly likely, don't it? Haven't come round to placing-the-order time yet, but I may experiment with a mix that might approximate what you're describing, said mix being a 1:1 of Bernard Gekachelter Virginie and Wilson's Grand Cairo. We'll see how it flies, I think.
A follow-up: Have just taken a couple smallish pinches, and HOOO! The "flavor", the consistency, the burn, all those qualities are right on target. The nicotine hits me a bit, gives just a _touch_ of a head swim for a few seconds, but that's hardly unwelcome. The mixup I mentioned above was nice, but the genuine article really outshines it. Another star recommendation, so thanks for that. :)
What is base flower? This was the snuff that got me hooked! I got it from the same shop when I was in London. Im now on Gawith Original Snuff and I don't like the mentholated nearly as much but its all I could find in Madrid. Im trying to order more online, got my fingers crossed that it will arrive. Thanks for all the videos!

It's lovely.
"I am a charlatan!" You're killing me!
Hahahaha
I bet that shop smells like absolute Heaven when you walk in. Tobacconist's and book stores I love the smells.
Yes it does pal....it's tiny as well so the smell is quite intense.

Traditional yeah.. History in a tin
Absolutely!
Thanks for sharing! Haven't had this one. Comparing to Jock's choice?
Its hard to say, they are both spectacular. If you fancy trying, then buy both!
Every time I open the tin so much falls out, how do I solve this?
👍
I ordered my first tin and to the US its $20 shipping and all for a small jip, maybe I wont enjoy it as much as I think.
Blimey!
Thanks for sharing, please, can you tell me the full name of this snuff and best place to order online. Cheers.
Mullins and Westley. Mature Crumbled.
@@simplysnuff6512 Thanks for your response, much appreciated.
