His explanation on speaker coverage is very good. I was thinking in terms of consumer audio, where a wider pattern isn't normally a problem. In live sound that can increase interference and feedback.
Correct - in consumer audio the audience is typically seated at or near the sweet spot of the speaker and the distance from speaker to listener is relatively small. In large venues there are hundreds of people sitting at varying distances from the loudspeakers so the ability of the loudspeaker to control the sound becomes a critical issue in system design.
Bruno, kudos to your hand work , I must tell you today that your my mentor in the world of Sound Reinforcement. Please I have a request on DSP Speaker Management System. How to use it generally for live sound setups. also a Crossover Machine will burn my horns (tweeter) each time I use it, I guess I am not doing something right. Please can you make video on those request Please. I will really be glad if all these are done. Thank you, Bruno.
You all always provide a lot of helpful info. Question. A Taylor guitar with an ES System is designed to plug directly into a PA as it uses a balanced cord right from the Taylor Guitar., with no DI box. I find using a di box with an ES System Taylor guitar greatly reduces the signal and the sound output from the PA. So, how can I run my Taylor ES acoustic guitar thru an amp, then to the PA system? I like to have a small amp so I can hear my guitar. It is very difficult to hear how my guitar sounds when it just goes directly to the pa. Thank you, God Bless.
When running an ES system into the PA system via a DI box the mixer gain will need to be increased compared to running the ES system directly - this is because the output of the DI box is mic level, compared to the near line-level of the ES system direct.
