    Good information in case my super expensive DSSV shocks crap out again. ICON is well known in the Jeep community.

    Just relocate the top mounts....you can cut the bed and use electrical boxes screwed to the bed floor to give you the room....It will be as “clean” as the Icon for DSSV shock swap....I’ll give you $350 for those crappy old DSSV units and throw in some electrical boxes and self tapping screws to seal the deal....Damn! The genius being displayed here is awesome! Those guys @ GM & Multimatic better worry when word gets out about how crappy their Engineering was on the ZR2.....You can cure it with China shocks & a Harbor Freight welder!🤣

    589 Fab shock relocation kit. Not cheap but will solve lots of issues.

      Yeah, was gonna say...you have to be careful with offsets with the 589 relocation. When you flex out, top of the tire is gonna be very close to the shock body.

    • @drtyzr2977
      @drtyzr2977 4 года назад

      @@Bearded_SARTECH 0 offset wheels work perfectly with the relocation kit. The zr2 with 35s and a shock relocation is literally perfect.

    I'm gonna try to find you on CFs. I just did the 589 relocation on mine, and you're right, with a 12.5...probably would be tight when you stuff a rear tire, but I think there might be some other options we could work without a 589 kit and new wheels or crazy big spacers.

    Laying under the trucks cutting and grinding sucks. Have you considered pulling the bed off? It sounds like a big deal but you have the talent - rent an engine hoist and lift on the tie down points. Then you can make a really cool custom top mount easier. Ya, easier to say than do, but that might be a YT first for that with custom shock mounts. The 589 relocate kit is great, but raising the shock straight up would be much closer to OE geometry.

    • @campbelloffroad3660
      @campbelloffroad3660  4 года назад +1

      Yes I have thought about removing the bed, I would just make a pulley system from my front winch to the ceiling and back down to the bed lol. The part that I fear would be really hard is how many electrical connections and gas tank lines would have to be unhooked....

  • @andrew4415

    How about fabricating some additional bracket that can bolt on your new mounts and maybe drill another hole for a stabilizer bolt to keep them from rotating? Or even welding it on the new brackets? I know it's more fab work but beats cutting off the mounts again and then if you find shorter shocks, just take em off.

    • @campbelloffroad3660
      @campbelloffroad3660  4 года назад

      The shock body would not fit between the two side plates so the bracket would have to push it out farther away from the axle. Not a bad option, but I think they are adequate the way they are for now, ride quality is surprisingly good

    How was the highway drive on the OEM shocks when you raised the mounts ? Even though you only had 2-3" of shock travel left, you shouldn't use much on the street .
