PRS Silver Sky vs Fender Custom Shop Strat

- For my Presets visit: johnnathancordy.gumroad.com/ The PRS Silver Sky arrived to a lot of backlash a couple of years back, and I think I can see why as a Fender purist might find it a bit unpalatable. I'd put myself in the sceptical side of things, thinking that probably Fender did something wrong to make @johnmayer leave, but after trying the Silver Sky, I'm very pleasantly surprised, and think @prsguitars have in general done a very good job at building their take on a strat.
The preset I'm using here is "ODS Full" which is in the general patches bundle
I've decided to make it possible to grab both my Helix/HX Stomp bundles (the expression bundle with freeze presets has always been separate) together for £5 - www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr... - I will then email you a link to both bundles!

Dave from up the road is just pleased to hear the Silver Sky being played properly! Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Didn't even recognize you were playing Wheel until the melody came in. Put a smile on my face, epic stuff!
I’ve always struggled with Strats. The tone is always a bit too bright and thin for me. I find it an unforgiving guitar to play. I’m typically a Tele player so used to more body in the tone. I’ve had about 10-12 Strats, mostly Custom Shop models. I’ve always moved them on after a few months as I could never quite gel. I got a PRS SS in a trade with no intention of keeping it. But it’s by far the best S type guitar I’ve played. It sounds SO much better than any of the CS Strats I’ve had. I love the feel of the guitar, it’s got a great neck profile and I absolutely love the 7.25 radius. There’s no choking on bends because the neck is perfectly straight and the fretwork is flawless. Tone wise it has a bit more mids, and bit less top end than a normal Strat. It’s more like a Strat with a bit of Tele thrown in. There’s slightly more fullness to the sound that makes it easily playable and much more forgiving than any Fender Strat I’ve had. The tone controls are cert useable and easy to adjust. Also the tremolo is better by far and the locking tuners work perfectly. It holds tune really really well. I can almost do dive bombs and it returns to perfect pitch. So I’m totally sold. My SS is going nowhere!
Really appreciate you sharing your experience! Helpful for a perspective buyer like me 😊
Well said my experience is exactly the same as yours!!!!
Silver Sky is everything the Fender should be!!!
What so many miss is that their favorite players HEAVILY MODIFY THEIR STRATS TO SOUND RIGHT!
Thanks for this. I want to love Strats and just can't quite seem to get there. Tele's are a different feel. Maybe I should give the SS a shot.
I'm hoping for the same experience. I'm a Gibson guy and have tried to love a strat (had probably 7 or 8). Waiting on the arrival of my SS. Hope I love it! I've played a few and they felt great.
Played a 95 EC Blackie Strat I bought new in 95! Main guitar for 21 yrs! Now totally into LP-Es-335-Tele and Gretsch! Gifted EC to my Son. Not quite sure another S Style will come back into squad but a Suhr S Style and Silversky have great appointments a Fender would need to be upgraded to reach! Same reason I won’t buy a offset Fender! Buy it and spend $600 in upgrades? No thanks! Appreciate your comment and insight !
My parents got me a silver sky (that exact color!) for Christmas last year, and I fell in love! Definitely took me a while to get used to it, but it's the most resonant strat I've played! Love the radius as well!
You got epic parents
Damn cool parents
Lucky guy with the best parents 🥺
Congrats, but it’s not a strat
@@christianbroussard9072 yep. It's better.
Wheel! One of my favourite Mayer tracks. Lovely tone, John :)
Awesome vid, & the intro playing is stunning...as always ! Really dig the CS here
I built my own strat completely to my spec. Silver Sky still my best guitar
I tried a borrowed one and quite liked it, it's to me almost like a slightly stylised version of a strat. By that I mean everything feels slightly newer and brighter, the sound especially. All my fenders (even my new AmPro 2) feel a little more 'lived in' for some reason. I think its a great instrument, and I imagine the consistency is probably pretty good from guitar to guitar also. With Fender I would never buy without trying it first, one of these PRS though I think you might be safe to buy sight unseen if you already liked another one you played.
This was a really great comparison video and both guitars sound - good job!
As for the finish on the silver sky, I believe it is indeed lacquer.
The Strat sounds just a bit more classically "Strat" like. I like em' both as they each sound great in their own way. If I had to, I don't know which I'd choose. However, I do not think we're yet aclivated to seeing bird inlays on this type of classic shape and build. The PRS is a double take for the purists, no doubt.
Gorgeous playing!! It really is mad how different they sound.
The Strat is more dynamic with more snap and sparkle. The Silver Sky sounds beautiful, rich and fuller sounding.
For me, I'd chose the Silver Sky. That fullness and sustain without sacrificing too much top end would work so much more often with music that I play
Totally agree about the differences but that’s why I prefer the Strat. It’s what a Strat sounds like. The PRS is like a cleaned up version of the real thing. Both cool just preference
Top-notch content as always. Cheers!
The Fender just has a warmer, sweeter sound. I have never played a Silver Sky, but my Stratocaster Elite is very comfortable to play and makes me want to bend everything. I paid $1,600 U.S. for my Elite. I have at least looked at the Silver Sky, held it and it is definitely NOT higher quality than the Elite. I am from MD and I applaud Paul’s success. I want to like PRS better, but I just don’t.
Fender sucks it’s just good for standard stuff. I got the cortx700 duality super strat and it has punchy single coils with nice lead ham buckers. I think prs is alright but not the best. My guitar can cover all sides of genres from funk to jazz to metal. My guitar is a super strat which got created by cort the biggest guitar manufacturers which sell top end guitars for a cheap price but they add all new modifications.
The thank you.
Keeep writing
There isn't a non-CS Fender that has as good quality fretwork as a PRS.
Disagree, simple as
I appreciated this comparison so much more when you said 'Josefina pickups in it, whatever that means'. To Fender's credit, they managed to turn pickup winding into a 'corksniffer' topic...
I mean it’s not that much of a “Corksniffer” thing. Josefina was trained by Abigail, who was trained by Leo. its a straight lineage from the guy who basically invented everything we love.
I think Mr Paul Reed Smith turned the entirety of guitar design into a "corksniffer" thing when he named one of his products after Ted McCarty. An engineer and former Gibson Exec whose most known for several innovations ( like The tune-o-matic bridge and Humbucking pickups) while working as an Exec at Gibson from 1950- Late 60's ( Gibson's guitar Golden Age ) and only did consulting work with PRS for a few years in the 80s. LoL! You'd think that PRS would have the good taste to allow Gibson to at least consider naming a model McCarty Lol!
Paul is a brilliant and passionate engineer,..but he's not able trying to earn market share just like any other businessman and luckily for noobs and shallow elitist his plans really came to fruition with John Mayer .
Hey John, I purchased the Silver Sky when they first came out and the first release came with a hard case and I think at that price point, a $220 AUD case should be included for a premium instrument which the PRS SS is. I own many guitars and have played my trusty Fender Custom Shop Strat for about 20 years and it was time to retire the old girl after about 1500 gigs and countless hours of rehearsals. The Silver Sky has differences in the sounds but they are usable. I used to favour 3 settings on the Custom Shop Strat whereas on the Silver Sky, all 5 pickup selections are very distinct and particularly usable. I really love the guitar and have played many gigs with it since I received it mid 2018…discounting last year of course when all gigs stopped. So all the hate the Silver Sky got before its release was unjustified. This is a seriously good, solid, usable instrument that is a joy to play. I am a very happy owner and recommend it without hesitation. It’s also great to see John Mayer actually use the guitar on stage. What a great player. Thank you for your channel and wonderful music.
Yeh I do sort of get the double take, but after playing one - looks aside it's a great playing instrument, and looks wise I think there's lots to like about it!
After trying many PRS ... thinking I would like like them, I never found a neck that felt comfortable to me , however I think I would like the Silver sky , not had the chance to try one as I went schecter traditional S shape, no regrets... at this point in time there are so many fantastic guitars using that basic ‘S’recipe.. it seemed strange all the furious outrage on the release of this instrument. Nice vid JC
Really gorgeous intro. Very tough to decide between these two. PRS sounds fuller and more “ideal” but the Strat has a bit more unruly soul like a wild stallion. At the price point it’s hard to turn the SS down
My Silver Sky is one of the originals that did come with a hard case - a very, very, heavy hard case!
You can really hear the overtones on this guitar. Sounds incredible.
they are superb.I have one and I will never need another guitar....the full jimi hendrix ,funk ,rock sound for me
I've wanted to try a Silver Sky, but I probably don't need another guitar. All my heroes played Fenders. I'll probably stick with my Strats and Tele's. The PRS does sound brighter.
When I undecked the silver sky it sounded very different. Interestingly I wonder if this may be the reason for the difference between the strat as well.
At first I really didn't like the looks and the idea of a Silver Sky but seeing Mayer with it made me grow used to it and, of course, want one. It's like Ferrari said "They (cars) become beautiful when they win."
Have four PRS, two SEs and a Core but this one is my favourite by a whisker over the Core. Strat feels almost clunky after playing this and the crisp bell tones of the SS not to be beat.
man ive been playing humbuckers my whole life but you make me wanna get a tele/strat from all the tones you get throughout your videos
Do it bro. I was a metal/Djent guy now I’m a John Mayer strat guy Bc i love single coils lol. John Mayer belief solo live... best tone ever 🙂
@Question Everything oh yea I definitely djent with the single coils now lol
I have a SS and it’s my favorite guitar. I’m not a “strat” guy, but I love PRS and JM so I took a gamble on one. I’ll have it for the rest of my life.
I think they're really excellent guitars, not to sure why they attracted the negativity tbh
@@johnnathancordy traditionalists are just pissy.
I've got one and it's a really, really good guitar; one of the very best "strats" i've ever played. Well made, solid, everything works. The internet told me I'd hate the small radius and frets and...I don't notice them at all. Plays great. I got it on a whim to see what the fuss was about but I'm keeping it and sold other guitars to make room for it. Not as "pristine" feeling as a Suhr or Anderson for example. It does have "mojo" for sure.
Yeh I can see why people love them, not sure I can understand quite why there was such a negative reaction at first?
i really noticed the radius, maybe because i have small hands and fingers, but the guitar sounded so good i was used to it within 2-4 weeks. I also noticed the small frets,i was pushing down so hard the strings were touching the fret board when i played high note leads. But that was an easy adjustment-just use less physical effort! that factor took about 2-4 weeks to adjust to concurrently with the radius thing. This is the greatest guitar I have ever played and i am amazed i could afford to get one brand new here in over-priced Australia.I got a great deal and mine sounds as good as this review and all of the reviews.the consistency is so great, thats why i spent so much money on a guitar online without playing it first.....i think about playing it when i am at work and cant play it
Btw I love how u changed up “Wheel” by Mayer. To me those two chord shapes in the intro are super weird to play. I like how you made it into a single note thing
How does it compare to your k-line?
I own a Silver Sky and overall it's a pretty great guitar. My only gripe is the fretboard radius. I like low action and it's really hard to get it down low without buzzing out. I've had it plek'd and setup at Glaser in Nashville and it's as low as it goes but sits around 1.5mm on the low E. My other 9.5 strat sits noticeably lower. This is only a negative for people who like really low action. If you play guitars like LP's or something with a flatter radius, you will notice the difference. Subjective at best, but something to consider.
I have my Professional Strat set really low, and at first felt the action on my SS was too high.. I haven't measured the difference but after a few days of switching back and forth, I find the SS very playable and am enjoying it very much. I'm not going to touch the PRS. I'm sure it could go down a tad but it sounds wonderful and is very easy to play as is. I was very worried about the 7.25 radius but find it to be no big deal.
Valid point. Fretting out is less if an issue than action height.
I like the radius but I hate trying to get it to where it needs to be without choking out.
1.5 is typically as low as you can get it on most guitars
I’ve played the Silver Sky a few times... well constructed and lightweight, but the tone seemed so neutral, and though I’m one of the few who liked the headstock from the get-go, the tuners look like cheap plastic, don’t they? Imagine it with shiny, metallic tuners, and perhaps without that bottom horn carve. The neck was also wider than expected, especially compared to Strats generally.
You have to play a silver sky to understand the hype. Never went back to the Fender Strat.
Played one,..found it very "meh". Certainly overhyped
@@terryshrk to each his own but I love them.
@@terryshrk I felt the same. It didn’t even stack up to my DC3 (which I sold like an idiot).
Same. Ended up selling my strat.
I played Fenders and PRS Humbucker guitars most of my playing life - 43 years now, and the US silver Sky, I have the same color & fretboard, is my favorite guitar. I may throw a Seymour Duncan Little 59 single coil sized humbler in it at some point, the bridge is better than any Strat bridge single coil ever, but I still prefer a HB in the bridge of a Strat. They’re Nitro finished BTW.
What's the story on the custom shop? Have you done a video on that? Did you buy it second hand? I've tried a silver sky and liked it but not enough for it to replace my Landau 68 strat.
Yeh it's a used one, haven't done a video yet
I want the silver sky to win, but there's no doubt the custom shop sounds better.
I sold a custom shop for a SS, and while its no slouch, the CS was just better overall.
the Silver Sky is a great sounding guitar, but I'd really like PRS to hurry up and release the Fiore...
Keep the Hx Stomp videos coming
Paul signed my Silver Sky I bought from Rainbow guitars in Tucson. He did this AFTER I teased him that the one I was considering buying was defective because the 7.25 radius caused my notes to choke out when bending (something many falsely predicted). He caught the joke and played it up. Really good sport.
I enjoy my Silver Sky. As for it’s brightness, I think the tone knob can remove it nicely and warm it up when desired.
Might be tacky to post here but this is me playing Last Train Home with mine:
ruclips.net/video/q74EqLQ-dmY/видео.html
If I was on the last train home I'd definitely be playing a pink Silver Sky. Don't know why.
Finally, an American PRS I wouldn’t flip out from scratching.
I played a Black Silver Sky, I really liked it,
My silver sky sounds and looks beautiful but I’m starting to have fret issues. I’ve had it for 3 months now, bought new, and frets are starting to get scratchy on my 8th and 10th frets. This is probably because I do a lot of bending, but still, it’s sad to see a new expensive guitar start to have issues. I wrote PRS about it today. I might need to take it to a luthier for a little tweaking
Rosewood tends to come pre scratched IMO and maple/mahogany wayyyy longer to have those issues. Ebony basically rubs first time it’s played in my experience.
Funny how the PRS Silver Sky sit in price right between the Fender Custom Shop and highest end non-Custom shop models, like American Original or American Professional II. The question for me would be how it compares with those.
@david Rothberg I have a American strat and a silver sky and the silver sky is ten times the guitar.. From My very first gig on the silver sky I could tell it wasn’t even close. When just playing them in your room or even on a recording it’s harder to hear but when you get some volume and a full mix it’s night and day.
I own a rare Fender CS (Fender Jimi Hendrix Izabella Stratocaster) and tried a high end, limited edition PRS Silver Sky (Lunar Ice).
The CS is more resonance and sounds better. But the CS costs £6000+ whereas the PRS cost around £3000 when new.
Is the CS worth double? No. But would I go for the strat over the PRS? Yes.
Locking tuners, superior fretwork, better pickups and lighter weight than the Am Pro IIs. Only CS really compare and then not the cheaper ones they offer. In my experience, you need to get to the $5-6000 range to find instruments that compare/eclipse the SS
Just bought one my Clapton strat blows it away in tone and feel plus the mid boost is great on Clapton and 1000 cheaper
I sort of telling myself I'm hearing more notes with the silver sky when playing through the strings but the actual sound of regular strats I prefer, I feel there both worth having, especially if you like any of the John Mayer songs.
Just my opinion. To me the Fender is warmer. Thats not one is better than the other. Just different freq profile
is a preset a valve amp or a computer thing?
Aside from the body shape, the Silver Sky it's supposed to sound different than the Strat that's the main reason John left Fender to make an instrument that captures his tone sound to his specs. So anyone continuing to make a direct comparison to the Strat may not be the right approach. Just like comparing a Les Paul to a single cut PRS. Plus whether purists Strat guitarists are buying the Silver Sky or not, it makes no difference as it continues to sell off the shelves and prices steadily increasing which translates into a lot of guitarists love it and it's here to stay :)
What song is that?! It’s driving me crazy that I can’t figure it out
WHEEEEEEL
@@johnnathancordy you just scratched an itch on my brain, thank you 🙏
Have you ever played one of those Nick Johnston’s Schecter guitars? I feel like it’s probably a really good guitar for the price, or regardless of the price even.
I had one for over a year. Honestly, construction wise it’s AMAZING...really really solid guitar. The neck leans towards a wide D shape, the wenge is a very strong wood but heavy...you won’t get quite a nose dive but it sits on that threshold. The controls and wiring is great too...mine had shield pain in the pickup routs.
So why sold it?
Simple, I couldn’t vibe with the sound. It was too bright. Even when playing it acoustically vs a fender custom shop, an American deluxe, the PRS JM, James Tyler and a Suhr it was the brightest of all. I think it was because of the neck woods...shame bc i love the look. I didn’t wanted to venture in the pickup swap rabbit hole. So...there...sold it.
@@netzarim1277 thanks for that honest opinion, will definitely try one before doing anything based on what you see on the Tube. Would you say the Sire S-Type would be a better buy?
@@JoseDW7000 well the guitar I had was the USA custom so it retails for $2,800. Sure is about $750 or so...thus if you are comparing the Nick Johnston traditional to the sire which is a fair cost comparison...jeez that’s a tough one. Because I’m already biased a bit, I think I would give the sire a chance. Here’s why:
I know that Nick Johnston started out playing a squire 50s type of guitar and the wiring scheme on those guitars is such that the bridge pickup is unaffected by the tone controls...therefore he’s ear is inclined towards that sound and that’s why he uses his volume much more than the tone controls (hence why he only uses 1 tone control and hence why is sound leans towards a bright color). The sire was designed for the Larry Carlton approach which is more of what I personally like...warmer tone and the picks are tuned towards a rounder spongier effect. You’ll get a roasted neck which it should be more stable. Rolled frets are a plus to me. The last thing I’d look for is the neck thickness...I personally like .83 1st fret to anywhere between .93 - .97 at the 12 fret.
You’ll have to try both...to know for sure.
Good luck my friend!
@@netzarim1277 Thanks so much for your incredibly rich comment, you really know your stuff! I'll try and get my hands on them soon. Cheers!
HI! Compared to a Custom Shop Fender Stratocaster, is this PRS John Mayer of equal quality?
I spent most of your video reading the comments below. Whenever I heard something extraordinary in your playing, I would scroll back to check what it was?! it was always Custom Shop.
The fender has so much more soul 🔥 they got it right the first time
I think when we're talking the higher end guitars, and we're comparing the Silver Sky core models against an American made Fender core model - it's a tough decision for me. Comparing the Silver Sky core model to a Fender custom shop - close to not fair that we're talking a custom shop to a production made core model guitar. Most cases, the custom shop wins.
When we come down to the Silver Sky SE to the Fender Player Series MIM guitars, in my narrow experience - I take the Silver Sky SE over the MIM Fenders. The SE's can be almost comp'd to the Silver Sky core models and American made Fenders. If we're factoring price, I think the Silver Sky SE is the best value/quality for the money
Both sound great. I have the core Silver Sky and as much as I love it, I think the Fender CS sounds slightly better to my ear. More sparkle in the high end which is the real beauty of a strat.
Aesthetically, I don't mind the shape, the headstock, tuners or the knobs, but there's not one color of them that I REALLY like, and I can't stand the bright white pick guards. For a company that has all those flamboyant/obnoxious finishes, I didn't expect them to go that far in the opposite direction :). I am a fan of PRS btw, I own two and I think they're the best.
Awesome! I think the finishes I mind slightly less than the vol/tone knobs!!!
What year is the silver sky?
It sounds different because that's how John wanted it. Guarantee you that if people subtract the fender bias that they will find the PRS is a the perfect instrument.
Came for Comparison , stayed for the lovely Vibrato :)
Prs sounds V V nice , C's strat sounds perfect
Both sounds great, but Fender a bit more sweet for me. Nice vids as always!
I would love a headrush prime rig similar to this helix patch!
I think Wheel was recorded on a Hollowbody PRS
your wheels rendition was amazing! thanks for making this comparison..Could u also play lenny by john mayer in both these guitars? how do u find the playability in both?
I love and own one PRS guitar but for this clip i prefer Fender.
Man.. I have a silver sky and a American strat.. Not a custom shop just a standard from back when standards were American made. The silver sky is ten times the guitar my strat is and my strat was the best strat I could find. The silver sky lighter, more resonate and stays in tune better..
You need to have your Start looked at and checked by a qualified luthier if its not staying in tune,..ive owned several and outside of your basic cheap Squier ive never had tuning stability issues LoL. Nor have I found issue with finding one that less then 7.3 lbs. There s reason why they're classics.
@@terryshrk man I talking about gigging. No guitar stays in tune the whole time. The strat isn’t bad like a Gibson. Which I refuse to play live, it’s just not as good a the PRS. if it’s just kicking around the home the strat stays in tune amazing. I agree with you about the weight but when it came to buying my strat I tried strat in my city and I was thinking about sound.. the guitar I bought was the one I liked the sound of the most at the time. When I bought my silver sky I did the same thing but I want just looking at strats.
@@nicksburson1 IF a guitar isnt staying in tune then its most likely the nut wasn't cut or installed correctly or the bridge requires alignment & Adjustments. The majority of tuning issues with Gibsons is indeed, a nut that binds the strings because the slots are just a bit too thin. Fender bridges might need new saddles After a decade or so playing and this also creates tuning issues. Both-on neck guitars might also have issues with the straightness of the neck..but this would also cause some fret buzzing. Paul Reed Smith is a super brilliant engineer and his instruments and designs are amazing,.but every instrument must be maintained well as it ages and every maker lets a poor quality guitar slip thought Qc once in a while. I had an associate have to send his PRS back to the factory twice for electronics repair work. Anyways,..enjoy yoru pRS they're generally wonderful guitars.
@@terryshrk all my guitars are well maintained.. it’s a fundamental design that is the issue. I’m not talking about major issues just small issues. For me Telecaster are the most stable, longer scale length no trem = stable. Gibsons well set up, can be good but design let’s them down.. I even find McCarty 594 to be less stable than standard McCarty.. the scale length change has that affect. Hope you musical journey is going well and hope I haven’t offended anyone.
@@terryshrk i think he means compared to the PRS.
I've got an American Vintage Reissue 61 Custom Shop Strat in Fiesta Red and I can not even imagine a Silver Sky being comparable to how great it is. The Roxy Pink Silver Sky really made me consider them when I saw it but once they made it a regular production model I finally decided against it for now. I still think it's really sweet looking though.
I forgot how controversial the silver sky when it came out. Not any mor the silver sky SE was the bed selling guitars last year
I would replace the birds with some Angry Birds.
The strat just has solid sweet tone when you hammer on..the Prs sounds muffled..
PRS have made their entire identity trying to copy Gibson and now they are onto Fender. But they never REALLY did succeed to copy the vintage Gibson tone. And in this case too, where's the pure glass sound of position 2 and 4 of a strat? Anyway, kudos to them, for reminding us time after time why Gibson and Fender are so precious for music and music history.
wow that PRS sings!
Just got a slightly used 100% mint condition, 2021 SS for $1800 (great deal in 2023). I agree with you. It's not a Strat. It's totally different. In a somehow better way!!! Hate it all you want, but it's just simply a better guitar Period....
PRS sounds a bit more scooped and a bit more "jangly". They do sound very different, probabaly the pickups. I like the looks but I think the CS sounds better for my taste. For the same money, I'd rather spend a bit more for a Suhr.
The PRS sounds good but the Strat sounds more dynamic and expressive to me.
Its not juat the sound to consder. The PRS has a rounder block vs the square. The new ones have taller frets which helps you stay in your lane. The pickups are quieter, and headstock design better. No trees are needed on the headstock. Back pickup is not ice picky either
IMO the fender sounds better, but both sounds great anyway.
It’s nitro they changed it in 2020 and that colour is 2020
Oh is it??!
Great tones .. . PRS very clinically correct, Fender got mojo would be my pick, what’s the difference in string tension ?
I had one and felt it was a very quality guitar. The knobs did have a cheap plastic look to them though. It seemed like knobs from a China guitar or something. I did like it, but I decided I didn't sound like I had more talent with the PRS, so I returned it.
But the real question is how does it compare to the K-line? Nobody here likes the Fender.
absolutely killer playing
The PRS sounds crispier, the FCS sounds warmer and a bit nosier ;) BTW its Strat nOt Schtrat ;p
If I were to buy an expensive “non-Fender” strat I’d go for a Suhr, Anderson, etc. PRS makes amazing PRS guitars, I don’t need a strat from them too.
Weird comment.
Imo strats need to have enough low-mids and the silver sky lacks that.
WHAT A SEGWAY
Its a trend for boomers to talk shit about silver sky, i was skeptical too until i played one. Not only it played great but the tungsten colour looked amazing up close.
You still prefer the K-Line?
Naturally
Wheel
And obviously the Squire Is the best
clickbait
That Fender sounds sweet, the Silver Sky is for one who wants to show up.
"Well, I made the duck blue because I'd never seen a blue duck before and I wanted to see one." - John Mayer
That's a real quote by John. What he meant by it, why does it exist, what's the correlation between him and this recent curiosity towards ducks?
Look into it guys.
That's a quote from Billy Madison (Adam Sandler movie), so it John Mayer did say that, he was quoting that movie!
(I tried to post you a link to the scene but the comment keeps getting deleted. Look up 'Billy Madison Blue Duck' if you're curious :)
“Paid shills…” haha love it
Influenzas 😅
I think the best here is clearly your fingers
I would rather buy a Santana model than a Silver sky .
is this a newer Silver Sky? they dramatically changed the pickups and didnt even tell anyone lol. anyway, both sound good to me, but the red FCS in particular does sound great. but that's probably just confirmation bias!
The amber heard vs Mayer thing didn’t age well ey lol
Knowing that something is a Fender colours people’s picks LOL
The 7.25" radius on the Silver Sky makes it a no go for me. And I'd choose a K-Line Strat over a Fender CS.
To be honest it is one of the easiest bending necks I’ve played and I couldn’t tell I was playing a vintage radius.
@@SilverParatrooper A 9.5" or 12" radius will always have the bending advantage. It's just physics. Honestly I don't see any advantages to a 7.25" radius.
@@Stringprodigy I said the same thing and you and I are not wrong, but admit I was surprised like @SilverParatrooper to discover the neck actually felt great and bends don't fret out -- only time I noticed the radius was when playing slide. I don't like the bird inlays and a few other things, but the neck really surprised me, it's great.
@@psneville oh cool, I'll have to try one.
