And that's exactly why it REALLY sucks to grow up in a househol that doesn't teach you anything like this.
This has possibly been the biggest issue of my life so far and i've basically just realized.

What was not explained on the test is that children were exposed to reliable and unreliable experience. Some of the children were promised to have 2 rewards, but they did not get. So they missed trust in the future rewards and used instant gratification as a cope strategy to cope with uncertainty and unpredictable future. So it's understandable if you don't know if you may have in the future, so better take now. Poverty, war, violence, uncertainty, unpredictable future can lead to instant gratification. A wealthy person or family do not struggle with primary needs as, house, money, protection and in other hand poor people tend to think more in the present environment. In a survival modus. This could be applied to addictions as like drugs, love addiction, sex addiction... If you predict that you gonna have them you don't bother searching...

How come the only example is this study from 30 years ago? I wanna hear a review of someone who did this experiment recently.
