Great video. Why is it that I can’t find any log furniture maker that talks about the biggest issue with making log tables, beds, chairs, etc? HOW do you SQUARE your project when using logs???
Well George, I cracked up. Dug up an old magazine from 2000 with guess who on the cover. It took me a few minutes to go “Hey, That’s George!” My how we have all aged. It is a good life.
Best wishes George.
chain vise would also work good
This may be a silly question. Can green wood be used or just the wood be fully dry?
Great Question! I would be happy to send your question off to the expert. To get started, Please provide the email associated with your paid membership. Thanks!
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE RUSTIC TIMBER VIDEOS.
Do a google search for peeled pine logs and you’ll find lots of sources. You can then focus in on the sizes you need and where they’re available.
I always start my projects by planting the seeds for the trees that will become the furniture that my grandchildren will build.
Right now I have projects started for a bunch of furniture including, a big farmhouse dining table.
I planted an acre of red and white oaks. With those seeds planted, I just need to find myself a wife, yadda yadda yadda, and play the waiting game.
Thank you very much for an excellent video.
Very nice work what type of glue do you use
Hello! A good glue to use for log furniture is Titebond 3. It gives you good open assembly time and is waterproof. Put an ample amount of glue on both mating surfaces. Thanks
GREAT STUFF....I am so jealous of you craftsmen.....one day I will get there I hope!!
hey could you make a vid on how to make a rustic baby cradle please or tel me a place where i can watch one thanks
It seemed like there was a couple of millimeters gap between the tenon and the mortise. It also seemed like the tenon was a bit longer that the depth it was intended to fit in. And lastly it seemed like the "pencil sharpener" rounded the edge of the piece, producing an awkward fit. Is there not a better way to make this joint and avoid all those imperfections?
Flat tenon
do fresh cut mesquite logs need to be dried before doing this to them and using them as table legs?
I don't have any experience with Mesquite as it doesn't grow up north where I live, but I would dry it before building anything out of it.
Paul
Love how that comes out. Where can one get that type of wood to make that type of furniture.
How do you get a straight cut on the end of the log that you are using as a leg for an end table?
Take a 1x6 at the right length of pole to be cut. Take a 1x2 fasten to the edge to give your pole a lip to run against the fence of your miter saw.
Stick a few brads thru the top of the 1x6 sled to keep the pole from moving while cut. Line the edge of the sled board up to the saw blade and cut both sides, without moving the pole. You can also screw the pole down from underneath
Excelente herramienta / excelent tool!
Здраствуйте ! Через Вас , можно заказать такие насадки ?
Please show us the finished bed as well :)
Where did you get the plans and kit from?
Great question! I will send your question off to George and our experts and he will reply here within 1-2 business days. Please check back.
This is not an area of specialization for us, so we do not have any plans specifically for this type of furniture.
Paul
In the video he states he got a kit which included the wood and plans

Thanks!
”pepe amazing plan” (Google it), is definitely a comprehensive woodworking book! By making use of this plan, I had been able to utilize words, drawings, real pictures and various diagrams. It`s really an informative product. I`m currently creating furniture along with my sibling and thanks to this product, I feel like helping him is possible.
@mikel985 thanks! We are glad you enjoyed it! Check out our wwgoawebsite for more great woodworking videos!
Where can I buy the pencil sharpener tool?
how can you get that peeled pine?
Здравствуйте а у нас в России где можно такую насадку купить или её можно самому сделать подскажите За ранее спасибо
you get the kit?
I am just starting out and I am shocked as to how expensive a tenon cutting drill bit set is... If you could't afford one, how else would you recommend to cut the tenon part of the project?
Do a flat tenon with a handsaw and chisel
Use a draw knife like has been done for ages.
Where do you get the materials at for this project?
The wood was harvested from George's yard. The special tools were acquired from here: www.lumberjacktools.com/
you & your wife should do rustic furniture full time...
Rather I should say rustic wood work. I'm really interested in making medieval furniture.
Why not just use a lathe?
Hello,
If you have a lathe, it would definitely make sense to use it.
Thanks,
Paul

that tenon was awful...
and not long enough to go all the way through its mate so he'll be screwing into end grain.
Try best plans for woodworkers. Stodoys.
A little sloppy man, looks like that was your first time.
RUSTIC IS NOT LOGS!!! Geeze, its funny how "rustic" theme automatically becomes logs and cabin.... I hate log furniture.
Well, then don't make or buy any. Geeze
