Hey everybody Donald here 👋I loved every aspect of this bands performance, from the music itself to the visual artistry in the video itself. Ningen Isu oozes style, I had a blast listening and watching
Slight correction to my plugs though 😅Midnight Munchies Manifesto (all spelt as one word) is the handle of both the discord group and twitch of the open mics I play live in VR online during the weekends. Much love🤟Thanks for having me on 😁

Joel, you can't go wrong with this song.
Also, your gusts always amaze me, they are like the who's who of the music industry; each episode is fascinating viewing. This series with Donald was fantastic, he is an engaging and generous guest. It doesn't hurt that he appears to have great taste in music, as he seemed to genuinely enjoy the bands you showed him. Each episode with Donald was a pleasure to watch.
Joel, thank you for your videos.

Beyond the obvious musical abilities, what distinguishes this band is the literary quality of the lyrics of many of their songs, with all sorts of often obscure references and obsolete terms---you need a dictionary and encyclopedia to figure them out. One of their practices is writing verses with meters of 7 and 5, common in classical literature. They'll use old-fashioned Japanese words because they say the sounds fit their music better, even if the listener doesn't understand what they're saying. Obscure Buddhist terms will appear too. Japanese bands in the harder genres, in contrast to J-Pop, will often dip into classical literature, history, and religion, but this band is special in that regard.

Yeah I noticed they really use older phrases and terms. Most Japanese people, myself included, can figure out the meaning by the letters but it really sounds classy. This song is prayer like in a way in it's meaning but very Japanese in sentiment. I enjoyed it.

    Hi from France:
The group was born in 1988. Musically, among their great influences is King Crimson, of whom they performed some splendid covers live during the 90s...

OMG the riff in the breakdown is like the Munster's theme or Rob Zombie's Dragula! The Yin to the song's overall yang, blissfully and plaintively expressed in the solos... oh and that sweet little Lulululululu part. How can you not love these guys?!

Hey Joel, I discovered Ningen Isu along with you and your reactions to them. Best new find on your channel so far, since I’ve already known most of the other bands that you cover regularly for at least more than two years …

The drummer is dressed as a 60's style Yakuza, while the bassist is in the garb of a 1800's era Budhist monk, and the guitarist is dressed as Meido era literary scholar.

Sounds like Donald is a new fan! I agree totally about the quality of the videos. Even though its really just the band playing their music, there are so many beautiful scenes; in the forest, walking on the shore at first light, standing on rocks, in a park. Very artistic indeed! There are English captions for this song and they add a lot to the song.
    Verse two:
_If you, Divine Goddess, are staying hidden somewhere,_
_Why don't you smile at me on my forehead?_
_I've never tasted the nectar of victory._
    _I’ve never succeeded in love._
_Will the day come when I can get intoxicated by the victory?_
_Will the day come when I can embrace love?_
    _Tell me, Divine Goddess._

Another awesome reaction, to another awesome song! What are the dressed like? This is from their Wiki page...Meiji-era literary master, a Buddhist monk, and a Yakuza-style gangster

And it’s cool that we share the same musically taste, since I also like everything in between 3 minute punk songs and epic 20 Minutes Nightwish 🤘🏼
And Donald seems to like also the whole spectrum…

Back in the day I used to like punk and some of those bands had songs a lot shorter than three minutes, The Minute Men come to mind, named appropriately.

Amazing clash of cultures, Ningen Isu. So East/West old school. Even the obscure lyrics. I found it hard to play - especially riff - on those SG's. The fretboard seems so hard and stiff... and wide. And those Hummer's were so crunchy. But anyway, they rock out those monky vibes! Thx, Donald and Joel! Steely Dan ("love that guy" - that's what this one woman said 🤔 ;-) Top 10 bands of all time!
