Hi! Can you tell me the name of the board he repaired? I want to buy a new one for my led tv but i'm not sure wich part is that. Is it the LED driver board? Or the main board?
Such an amazing skillset to have. My BenQ Curved 30.5" display has faded on the far right hand side. I am getting round it by just avoiding having any windows extend that far....it'd sure be nice to actually have the skill to fix it lol
My backlights was spontaneous turned out to be a voltage regulator issue. If you haven't done a video on that subject yet might be worth showing people. As I ordered new backlights for no reason other than getting too far ahead of myself lol
Good video simple and it's easy to find the problem. I wish my Phillips also have the same problem but for mine is quite complicated to analyze the problem I have a TV Phillips the output for the led it's 38vlts when release standby. Before release standby it shows 38vlts. No backlight on dark image Phillips appears. I have check the inverter seems only 38vlts. Do you think the inverter is bad. I have check the resistors smd near the inverter. It's beeping.may be 1 is shorted. It's solder in parallel. That's why all are beeping. In your opinion what would you do? ❓
You try to monitor the voltage in real-time. see if the voltage suddenly went up. It may be that you have an open led. or the driver is the problem. resistor can't be shorted if is damaged, check the resistance value, it will beep if is low resistance.
@@tevzTVTevatronics thanks a lot my friend. No the voltage doesn't not went up. It stay on 38vlts. Yes the resistors is beeping. In my opinion the led driver is shorted.. Thanks a lot for your help. Have a good day 😉. ❤️
That looks like I have the same issue I’m not sure I still need to test both the transformer & the diode but if they are both working I’ll just have to bypass them if at all possible.
The switching IC can be a problem, as well as the HDMI chip, and port. Also I know it’s kinda old but if used OTA Over The Air TV RF, it’s still big broadcasted just digitally in a lot of places. with a good antenna it’s quite good, so it’s still used! Lighting strikes to any of the areas “can also effect several other circuits” repetitive surging in the home can also take out components a proper surge protector can help, but it will absorb it too!
Hi Tevz, thanks for sharing your skills!!! I have subscribed to your channel and follow many videos but it's always same kind of content.. why don't you do other like Aircon, Refrigerator or any other variety of electric appliances?
My TV backlight went also. While I am an experienced electronic technician, I have little experience with TV's. I wasn't sure if the fault was in the LED array, or at the inverter, or what the normal output voltage is. So I went online to find out. It turned out to be a defective diode. I looked to where the LED's plug into the board and random checked the diode closest to it, as I was working without a schematic. So in answer to your question, it's speculative. Unless, of course, you have experience repairing LED TV's under your belt. In the early days of my repair work, I resorted to random testing of components. As service manuals and schematics became more accessible, I could fault-find more strategically. But in all cases of repair work, you have to start somewhere. You work from the known to the unknown, picking up clues along the way. Such is the game of repair work. There's no set way to repair every fault. You have to use your due diligence, think logically and methodically. It makes the game all the more interesting and mentally stimulating.

Thank you for your video, but, I'd still check for short when there's no diode inside the circuit. I prefer this way cause had some mosftets shorted and they've caused the short of the diode. You've done this test from I've seen after soldering. If I've seen it wrong and you did test before soldering it, sorry :).
They're is saying the mosfets that were shorted have caused the diode to short so if you didn't test the mosfets and just tested and changed the diode it's likely that the diode can short again
@@keronjoeph217 thank you, didn't know this one. But, how to test MOSFETs for short, if everything is fine? Once MOSFETs are shorted, they stay this way and they are damaged. So, don't understand what you mean here. Can you elaborate, please? I've started to use a backlight tester for the backlight and check voltage out of the PSU to the backlight before ordering the backlight. That's all I do. But, happy to learn new ways :) if you know any :).
I have a 2018 lg 60 inch led. For a while after turning on the screen would be very dim. I could make things out but barely. After 10 to 30 minutes the picture would pop back up bright and normal.now it’s just staying very dark and dim all the time. Wondering if this could be my problem. I bought a new tv was just wanting to tinker with it
In my case is capacitor 470uf and 330uf became bloated.. that is why the screen is pop up quickly while turn on the tv then it's dark, btw my backlight totally is fine
@@tevzTVTevatronics and thats because of the voltage transformer right? Or is it because the motherboard regulates the needed voltage out off our 110V outlets?
See because i just want to know if its a voltage issue or if the motherboard has a special resistor that allows the leds to turn on? Because i salvaged two tvs n well i wanted to use the led strips on my car as either running lights or the occasional off road adventure.
