Good update. You should watch the two episodes from Explore Bound where he fitted a PC case style fan in his upright fridge to prevent the freezer from frosting over and making his fridge cool evenly from top to bottom. And from all reports from others who have done this simple mod, it works, and works well. He then updated the mode to include a thermostat so the fan only kicked in at his set range of internal temp (as opposed to always being on etc) Could be a future DIY episode for you.
@@ottouringhey Craig have you tried the fan install yet? I'm about to give it a shot because on hot days the fridge runs non stop and chews through the power

@@ottouring thanks for the quick reply Craig 👍 there aren't any specific wiring guides available that I can find and I'm wondering if you can suggest the best way to wire it up . . . . I'm thinking tapping into the compressor power would be best so it only runs when the compressor is on. I've looked at explore bounds vids and he has had it on constantly and it was getting too cold so he then installed a temperature controller. I guess that would be ideal but would wiring to the compressor remove the need for a temperature controller? Tia mate 👍
@@4x4Overlanding247 To save wiring back to compressor you can wire it from the thermostat control. There will be a positive with constant power to it and the other side of the thermostat will only have power when the thermostat contacts close (this is what sends power to the compressor to run) wire it there and find a negative for the other side of the fan. Dm me and I’ll try and draw a diagram
I know what you mean that I looks identical to another brand that sells for 3 times more. I wouldn't be surprised if they were built in the same factory in China. If I was in the market for an upright fridge, the Kings is a no-brainer for me too.
Hi Gary, I’m a fridge mechanic by trade and yes ice will prevent air flowing and can affect the cabinet temperature. I defrost mine every couple of weeks depending on how many nights I’m away for. Just turn it off for a few hours with a towel on top shelf to absorb the water.
Hi Matt, No I just measured base and fitted some small right angle brackets so it’s a tight fit to the floor. Since the fridge is up against the wall I removed the small lugs on inside of fridge liner and screwed to wall. It doesn’t move. Hope this helps. Cheers Craig
Wrong! The compressor isvexacly the same. Old Kings, and the one after that both have the same compressor as the Bushman, Secop. If you want to keep the fridge internal cold and stop the freezer from icing up. Look at the Klevacool fridge fan.
Great points. You have saved so much money 💰 🤑 💸 and time ⏲️. While others are sitting in line to get super expensive canopies, rooftop tents, expensive kit and those $1k+ refrigerators. Even waiting months to get the stuff installed 😮 You are out there with a fat wallet enjoying nature!🏞🏕👍💪😉🌞

hey mate. when that freezer freezes up. the fridge doesnt cool as good just like the old non frost free house fridges???. do you have that trouble??

Install a Klevacool internal fan. Problem solvered
how cold does it get at the bottom of the fridge?
5 years warranty means nothing when they won’t honour it.😢
Guess that’s with anything or brand. I’ve taken 2 things back under warranty with kings and both times they were replaced on the spot.
Hey mate
How did you mount it
Did you use the L brackets that were supplied ?
