    Switched out the Camshaft Position Sensor after the scanner picked it up as an error, before it was randomly shutting off about once a day. Scanner picked it up as an error again after replacing the camshaft sensor, so now I gotta switch out the crankshaft and hopefully that'll fix it. Great video, had no idea where it was located.

    Just back to say thanks for the video. This was exactly what was wrong with my jeep as well. The pickup coil died. I just took one from my 96 and now its running again and the check engine light is gone. So glad I didn't have to change that crankshaft sensor! • @CyberForest
    @CyberForest 3 года назад

    Code 12 = Battery power to PCM was disconnected
    Code 54 = No CAMSHAFT signal detected during engine cranking (a scan tool would read this as P0340)
    Code 55 = Completion of fault code display (this is an End of Message code)
    Code 11 (scan tool code P0320) is no crank reference signal detected during engine start up.
    For others that have been dealing with these issues, replacing the two sensors should make the Jeep happy again. Add extra insulation if you can to protect the wires from engine heat.
    Hope this info helps someone! Thank you for the video :)

    Did the crankshaft sensor work?? I seen you did another video on the ignition pick up or camshaft position sensor too.. my jeep is doing exactly what yours is doing in this video… I have a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with the same engine.. I replaced
    Battery and terminals
    Ignition Coil
    Distributor Cap and Rotor Button
    All Spark plugs and wires
    Starter
    Fuel pump
    Fuel injectors
    Only think I haven’t replaced was the crankshaft sensor and Camshaft Position sensor but sometimes it will crank then sometimes it will crank for a few seconds and die and continue to turn over but not start until a few hours go by.. I am lost on what else will work so I’ll buy both parts today at Autozone.. within 2 weeks I have spent over 500 dollars trying to fix this things. I love the jeep but I hate what it is doing right now.. having to hitch a ride to work and find a ride back home until I can fix it is a bitch..

    I love my zj as well. Mine started missing and bucking and backfiring. So I started my quest. Spark plugs and wires first. Then fuel filter. Then fuel pump. Then dist cap and rotor. Then dist. Finally, after all that money started to really pinpoint. That sensor. I hope, anyway. Oem part is otw and will be replaced with ignition coil as well. Might as well everything else will be brand new. Obviously, it hasn't been fixed yet, but after I get my sensor, the jeep should be running like back in 01. "It's a 96" lol. I really.like the code thing. How has noone ever mentioned that before.
    One question. I have never ever seen the check engine light and I've had some stuff go really wrong before. Does it only come on when you check or what? It's not broken. Comes on with keys. Idk. Just curious. Thank you for your help.

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm
      @NaturesCadenceFarm  Год назад

      @Jonathan Terry did you get the sensor installed? Did it fix the problem? Glad you liked the code display technique. It's super easy and convenient.
      I have seen it on. I accidentally left the MAP sensor unplugged one time and started it up and it triggered a check engine light to turn on. Maybe check it by doing that.
      Thanks for watching! I would love to know how it is coming along. ~Mr. C.

    you described a PCM ISSUE. if you have bucking that means you have shutting on and off. if you have crank position go bad, it will shut off clean, as no fuel or spark. I would be suspicious of the PCM mount and plug connections as well as the wiring harness across the back of valve cover. I also had the plug connections to the crank sensor had wires touching intermittently and seems it ruined my crank position sensor

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm
      @NaturesCadenceFarm  4 года назад +4

      Donnie Bradley thank you so much for taking time to provide such good information. You are absolutely correct! It was a PCM ISSUE! The problem I found was inside of the PCM on the solder connections that attach the header connectors to the board. There are some videos of this procedure on RUclips and I found them very helpful. Viewers like you are the reason I really like this community for solving some tough problems like this. ~ Mr. C.

    Oh wow I had just changed my spark plugs and wires before this same issue plagued me. And that plate ontop of the distributor had come off. I just put it back. That means its a really good chanage this is my exact same issue. Must be a 97 thing. because I've done extensive work on my 96 and I've never had these issues. The only thing that was actually wrong with my 96 was the computer had a short and needed replaced. It just kept saying something was wrong with any and every random sensor and I kept replacing sensors until I finally gave in and took it to the dealership. They tried to charge me 400 to replace the computer but I decided to do it myself. Paid 40 bucks for a used one and I only had to remove 3 plugs and 3 screws to switch it out.

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm
      @NaturesCadenceFarm  3 года назад +1

      Kenneth Laibson sounds like that process might work. I opted for the no drill method because the Jeep does not have any holes drilled in the firewall yet and we wanted to keep it that way. The drill method would be excellent if you had to take the sensor in and out a bunch but the old one lasted 200k + so I am hoping this one will provide the same service.
