The guitars are so fresh and worn in, crisply and persistently strumming on rhythm and accenting it perfectly on lead, with simple, fresh drum beats and tightly knit, bouncy basslines. The way they create so much with so little will never not astound me.

anyone realise that this is one of their earlier concerts before "room on fire" came out. this means that the song obviously wasn't the "album version" that you are so used to hearing and thusly the words MAY in fact be different. either way, this is a gem, and all albums are great.

This is amazing. What a band! How could something from 2002 sound so immediately retro but also fresh at the same time? Unreal from the vocals to the composition. We need more from this band.

    Meet Me In The Bathroom
    The Strokes
    When they say promises
    They mean promises
    They'd say, "that's ok,
    Long as we can celebrate"
You see, my uncle would say
things would change when he's dead
    "Meet me in the bathroom"
    That's what she said
    I don't mind, it's true.
    Never was on time
    Yes, I once was mine
    Well, that was long ago
    And darling, I don't mind.
Yeah, we were just two friends in lust
And baby, that just don't mean much
You trained me not to love
After you showed me what it was
    Now she's staring wide-eyed
    Can't close her eyes
    Say what?
    Anywhere is fine
    just don't waste my time
You see, my uncle would say
things would change once he's dead
    "Meet me in the bathroom"
    That's what she said
    I don't mind, it's true.
    Never was on time
    Yes, I once was mine
    Well, that was long ago
    And darling, I don't mind.

You trained me not to love

Point is- as faulkner put it- PAST ISNT PAST--"is this it"lives forever, as do the strokes of 2002- so when people talk about theyre not good anymore they miss the point-albums/art RECORD, so no need to grouse about what WAS, bc u can always pop it on and again experience what IS---the strokes dont need to keep making more "is this it" songs-bc nothing could get better than the original, right people????

  • @victoriacostantino9592
    @victoriacostantino9592 6 лет назад +1

They didn't record this song until the next year. They probably wrote Is This It, and Room on Fire at the same time and just got two records out of it. The two records were ridiculously similar in sound. Room on Fire just wasnt as good as an entire record where Is This it was perfect (at least the UK release was) NYC cops needed to be on that record, instead of that jacked up song from Spiderman they replaced it with.
