Sounds like a stacking fee would have been appropriate. So times people can’t help themselves and take advantage. Luckily both times I didn’t get hurt. I get told I talk to much😂Thanks for the video. 😁👍🚜💨☀️
Thanks Mitch! I definitely got paid for stacking. That's actually value added to the firewood, so I'm not complaining. I just have a different end game in mind for clients like that. Stay safe my friend! 🤠👍 I'm down with PPE 👊
I had the same chainsaw mishap a few weeks ago. Clearing an old trail with a saw that was probably too large for what I was doing. I was tired and hit my chaps exactly as you described. The poly strands pulled out and stalled the saw in my case however. Ordered a new pair the next day. Thanks for sharing Sam!
Excellent that you had your chaps on. I think there are a ton of folks out there that just use a chainsaw once in a while and think they can just do a quick job and not use PPE. Those are the ones that end up in the hospital or worse. Glad to hear you weren't one of them 🤠👍
I agree. I’m pretty big on PPE. I’m alone in the country so I take it seriously. If I get hurt, the wood boiler won’t get fed or worse. Even bought a pair of chaps for my stepfather years ago. He didn’t even know they existed!
Your logic is dead on! Keep doing what you're doing and one day hopefully you will look back and be able to say, I have a successful firewood business! We built our house in 1992 on a small acreage and about 3 years ago I noticed some pretty rough areas in the property. We changed the natural flow of water when we dug a house in the property and put up a building. I priced for someone to come out and straighten things up and knock the crown off the crest of the 600' ditch in front of the property. I couldn't justify it. So, I bought a tractor withe a FEL and a tiller and got after it. I did so many things over the course of a few weeks with the tractor it was incredible. I believe it paid for itself in that one project. I bought a few implements and made a set of pallet forks and now I don't/won't pick up anything that strains me! If you have property you have to have equipment or a lot of money. In retrospect, we should have built a building and bought a skid steer before building the house.
Have you ever thought of cutting the IBC totes in half since you are mostly only using half of one? You would get twice the amount of IBC totes. Just a thought.
That's a very good idea, but I eventually what to have a machine that will lift a full tote. If I cut them in half, I would want to put them back together again when that time comes. Better to just accept the limitations of my BX for now 🤠👍
I agree with your thinking. Had a couple of fairly large trees taken down and we burn wood thus a 27T splitter and good 16in and 20in. saws. I had/have much use of a smaller excavator so I bought it. Plow truck went down so I bought a tractor a little bigger than yours. I prefer trucks and live in a snow belt area of NY so a used 4WD 1/2 ton was bought. My sister needs excavator work done so now a trailer, which also works wonders for getting round bales for the boss lady's horses. I have made quilts for many family members and was ready to upgrade my sewing machine so I did. I'm outa money but I owe nothing on any of it. A side note: 1 hour south of me got 10in of wet snow yesterday ~YUCK~
You have hit the nail on the head and couldn't be more correct, when using a chain saw QUIT if you get tired, I have been carrying a scar on my left knee for 25 years! I was felling a gum tree and It was my last cut of the day and I didn't even feel or know that it happened, luckily it wasn't a deep enough cut to hit the knee cap but it made a mess so if you are getting tired STOP immediately, you always come in second when using a chain saw.
@alexanderreid465 Thank you! I'm very sorry about your injury, but who is more credible than someone with real life experience of potential accidents. Once again, thank you! 🤠👍
One of those viewers of Adam's latest video was me. That was some IMPRESSIVE stuff for sure. And the fact that what he needed (the powered lifr) wasn't something he could buy, so he built himself, tells you all you need to know about how he handles his business. Those totes will save you far more than you've got invested in them and will keep "returning" your money to you over time. Plus the plastic bladders have got some kind of use I'm sure. (I've seen them converted into feed bins with the addition of a spring loaded sliding door made just for them on another channel, Wild Wonderful Off Grid who started me on my journey to our current off-grid life years ago.
@alvalonline Thank you! I am looking for ideas for those bladders. I have 1 i came up with on my own I will share in a video. There are SO many now and they take up a lot of space. I might give some away if I can. 🤠👍

Waiting for the rain to stop, i have a firewood delivery to do today that is a deliver and stack, then hopefully back home to get some more shingles put on the firewood processing pole barn i am building. (I'm kinda missing that drought we were having...)
Oh man, I feel ya brother. This rain has me sitting on the couch right now and that's not my happy place. I've got a huge indoor project I'm starting in January after the holidays. Perfect for the winter 🤠👍
Sam have you looked at a excavator fork lift accessory? Your bros excavator could easily handle those totes full to the nuts. Plus you seem to be almost at the max and we all know what happens to kit when it's pushed. Good stuff recently.
@ajtaylor560 That is an interesting proposition and I'm certain my brother's excavator would lift those with ease. I just can't count on having the excavator indefinitely so I don't want to rely on it, if you know what I mean 🤠👍
I live just west of a highway too. It gets a little noisy when the wind is out of the east. I see a bigger tractor in your future. Lol. The IBC totes are the way to go. Good stuff.
If you want to store your wood outside in your totes just cut your plastic tote tanks and cut then in half in a triangle shape and use the half to cover your tote and the triangle shape will have the water run off the wood. If you need I can get you a picture of my neighbour’s system😊
@mleon61 I know those work perfectly for that purpose, however they look a little funny sitting out in our field... at least according to my wife, lol. So I'm thinking about making room for everything in the barn 🤠👍
Sam! You have made some great progress. My apologies for never following up with you about your drainage problems. I like the new direction, and I see you got a mini excavator!!! Wouldn't it be fantastic to be able to lift the totes with the mini? They make pallet forks for the boom! Great videos as always. You make me laugh. Ttyl- Joe
Thank you! No problem with the excavation. I didn't know i would have the opportunity of fixing and keeping my brother's mini at my property. What a win/win that was! So good to hear from you! 🤠👍

Your firewood looks great. Do you deliver to Oklahoma? Just kidding. I really do look forward to your videos and hope your channel catches fire and grows beyond your wildest hopes.
Well, if a client is willing to pay for stacking, thats even better. Coz to sell wood, you have to buy wood. And for stacking, you don't have to buy anything. Was going to suggest you a small crane add-on for that dump trailer, but if you are going the mobile loader route, the crane would set further that loader, coz both will require money. But a small crane might come very handy. And you could move it from trailer to the back of your truck. Man, I wish I had av truck :)
@kestlovs Thank you! Yes, they paid for stacking and that is absolutely value added firewood. Every dollar counts. When I deliver pre-stacked firewood, that value will already be built into the price. People will always pay more for better service 🤠👍
@kestlovs Unfortunately, I've already worked that out and I think it's means buying a landscape trailer with a ramp. It's just time and money. Have to spend one to get the other 🤠👍
May be a stupid suggestion 🤷🏻♂️. If your tractor can only lift half a tote, why not investigate cutting the totes in half and still maintain it’s rigidity somehow. This allows full use of the tote and not only half. 🤔
@RudivonFintel Great idea and others have also suggested that. But, I want to someday have a machine that will lift the whole tote, so I'll leave them in tact and deal with my tractor's limitations... for now 🤠👍
Here is a new free idea for you. You can move and lift your full baskets with rear hydraulics just need attachment. So you could load full baskets and move them till they dry. Then it is more easier and you could lift them with front loader to load the trailer. Good luck bringing it to life and content.
Thank you! I have thought about that, but even when a full basket is dry, the BX will not lift it high enough to dump the basket into the trailer. Yes, I could move it with the 3 point, but I would lose the ability to dump the basket. Great minds think alike 🤠👍
