I've recently started playing with some friends and your videos have been awesome to watch, and gets me more into the mood of playing. Thanks for being awesome.
Thank you and happy questing!!
Thanks for this series. Ive yet to tackle the sagas but feel more prepared after watching. Thank you
love these videos and the way you are going through the cards and sharing the synergies and strategies. would really enjoy more content like this.
thank you! Have you seen the series I did on the Starter decks? it is similar to this.
@@COTRPodcast yes sir watched every single one :) think I've actually watched almost all of your vids from the past year haha
Was really glad when I won the Saga Expansoins and was even more amazed that COTRPodcast was giving me a PS5 too!! 😅
Wow, excellent breakdown of each card! I totally hadn't thought of Burning Brand on Gandalf, that's amazing.
thank you sir!
Great content and I especially like your explanations. Additional strategy information geared toward solo play would be extremely helpful.
I have a 100 video playlist playing solo progression called the Single Core Series. Pretty much every type of deck and strategy is covered. Thanks for checking out the video! Happy Questing
I have the first 4 LoTR Saga boxes and am tracking down the last 2. Maybe I'll get Fog on the Barrow Downs as well (couldn't find the Old Forest pack).
Thank you so much for this awesome content! If you could build a deck to take through the entire saga solo using only Revised Core, Angmar Awakens Hero set, this saga expansion, and the 4 starter decks, (basically all the "reprinted" stuff) what would that deck look like? Maybe a rings.db link? :)
Great question and really hard to answer. The quests throw so many different challenges at you that it is hard to imagine a single deck beating them all. I would probably go with hobbits but do a lot of changes to the actual deck depending on the quest. If you want raw power Gandalf and Elrond/Vilya is crazy strong.
So do you plan to do a Saga series? I could use a thematic one ... so hung up on Shelob's Lair that it's put me off for more than a month as I'm not really sure how to build for it.
Thats exactly what I plan to do!
GameZenter (formerly FFG's game store/play area now owned by the former FFG owner) has been reprinting them since they bought FFG's old print on demand printers. There's some sort of agreement between FFG and GameZenter to allow it but the details have never been announced. The packs sell out very quickly but they've been restocked several times so keep an eye out on the GameZenter site or the BGG forums to catch them.
The hope is that GameZenter will eventually be allowed to print the revised campaign content (boons, burdens, etc.) posted on the FFG site but so far they aren't able to do so.
thank you for that breakdown!
I plan to come back to this game but I don't feel like investing in every content. Currently I plan to get only revised core set and straight dive into saga series. Do u think with the limited card pool, is it possible to play through the saga quests? Would love to hear some opinions.
That’s a great question. I think the short answer is yes because you can always play on an easier mode if the quest is too hard. The coreset has some really powerful cards and between that and the saga player cards you will have lots of options.
@@COTRPodcast what other packs would you recommend to get first if I prefer to play the normal mode?
@@cadiboy04 The dwarves or Elf starter pack.
@@COTRPodcast alright, thanks!
Great video, as always!
I have a question about the campaign mode: I played the core set and the dark of mirkwood scenarios, connected as a campaign (as suggested in the manual). I got a boon that says "it can be used once per campaign". The question is: Is it possible to progress to the next cycle scenarios (Angmar Awakened), as a continuation of the previous campaign, with the same campaign log, heroes and stuff, and keep doing that from cycle to cycle, forming, as a result, a single giant campaign? Or the game assumes, in the new cycle, that it is a whole new campaign and I should start again, from scratch, with a blank campaign log, new heroes, decks...? If the answer to first question is yes, does it mean that that boon I got is a "once and done" effect? Or does it refresh when I start the scenarios of the next cycle?
Each campaign is confined within the cycle it starts at. But there’s nothing stopping you from creating your own house rule and making one giant campaign. It would be up to you how you use those boons
Thank you!
@@COTRPodcast Awesome! Thanks!
i don't remember seeing galadriel, boromir, elrond ally in the progression series. I wonder why? They look like very good allies
I think Boromir showed up a couple of times, the others may have been in decks. I tend to only put one copy of a unique ally (unless it is a key card) in my decks, so they don't hit the table too often.
Could FFG re-release the Hobbit Saga? I mean, some of the Player cards are in the Starter Decks, so they can do a single scenario-only box, convert the treasure cards to campaign boons, add burdens, and add Bilbo and the ring...
I hope so!
I have the revised core set and all four of the starter hero packs. Would that be good enough card pool to be successful in this campaign?
Yes. You have enough tools to get to through the 6 quests here. Then you will get more help in the next saga expansion
never understood how PoD could be out of stock...does it not mean print on demand ?
Kenny Felts details it perfectly below
Does anyone know if any of the cards in this set have been ipdates from the original ones? Errata stuff? I ask because i wonder if i can buy an old set or if i should just pat a bit kore for the repackaged one. Thanks.
There is a couple of Updates, Gandalf's delay has a text change to make it more clear how it works, and a few other cards have slight changes. If you go to Hall of Beorn and search for Errata in this set you will see them all. If the price is good for the older sets, you should be fine with those.
@@COTRPodcast thanks. Just checked the site and the card search section doesn't seem to be working currently.
@@COTRPodcast I guess what I should have asked was if there are any glaring errors on the original printing of the fellowship set. Errata that's just more clearly worded doesn't bother me but I wouldn't want any cards with keywords missing or wrong stats ect. Thanks again.
So the Black Riders wear two black robes, otherwise they could not have Hide 2.
Good for pointing it out since i was the one who actually got scammed and lost money, they did it very well and i really wanted it so thus i was perhaps to reckless which cost me money unfortunately.
But great channel keep it up
yeah don't even bother looking up those extra scenario packs on Ebay. Some smart people are charging $65+ for them 😄 Can't blame them, really.
Is it just me or does Sam Gamgee look a bit like Jack Black?
