Watching you creating your own mini-stories while fighting and being amazed about the characters moves and attention to detail really reminded me of when I played Super Smash Bros. Melee for the first few times on GameCube. Really enjoyed the stream and hope to see more in the future :)
I honestly agree that every system has games that need to be experienced by more people, some are critically underrated, such as Super Mario Sunshine, which, while buggy, is still fun, some are amazing games with bad reviews that eventually got corrected yeara later that simply don't have a large enough playerbase because of the initial reception, these are typically RPG games released before Pokemon hit the Gameboy, a very well known example is Earthbound, quite possibly the best game of all time, mitigated to bargain bins only a few months after launch due to nobody wanting to buy an rpg, making the retailers just want the games out of their store, some games are games made for failed platforms that had a lot of effort put in, think things like that one Uncharted game for the Vita (a game I havent played yet since I've never really felt compelled to own a Vita, there really just isn't that much that interests me there aside from Uncharted and the concept of playing the Jak, Sly and Ratchet and Clank games on the go-), or that one Warioware game for the Virtual Boy which, blinding red screen aside, was apparently fairly high quality. Things like this are precisely why emulators exist, to give newer generations the chance to re-experience these games from their childhood that the IP owners have forgotten about or just have no plans to revisit or barely make available on new platforms, these are your Earthbounds, Jak and Daxters, and Sega franchises before Sonic, and in cases like Mother 3, Ace Attorney Investigations 2, and The Great Ace Attorney 1 AND 2, emulators give the chance to experience a game for the first time they never would have been able to experience otherwise due to the publisher not releasing an english version, with the most infamous of which being Mother 3, a game Nintendo has teased constantly as if toying with the dedicated fanbase it's series has attained over the years, with the people wanting it being so insistent that they continued asking Reggie about it even after he had left Nintendo. Thanks to emulators, even if a publisher doesn't see any monetary value in making a game available in all regions, the internet can still make that experience readily available for those who want it. Of course, Piracy is a thing that is stigmatized with emulators, and while I generally don't condone piracy, in my opinion there is a legal and moral grey area if the publisher never GAVE you the ability to BUY the game in the first place.

Ganondorf is still the same thing, but in the form of a cold, calculating man born and raised of the Gerudo, who channels his desires for Death and Destruction into serving himself and his people instead of spreading pointless suffering.
what if he played the phoenix wright games 😳 (would be a little different to his normal content since it's basically a story based dialogue driven game, but still they're awesome games and i would love to see him try at least the first bit of the first game. and hey if he played it before phoenix wright was added to smash, that could be a cool story :P) by the way Deebeegeek if you're reading this, blind lets plays are a big market on youtube imo, so perhaps making *numbered videos* as you progress through all the games you are doing rn (mario 64, smash, etc) instead of making them seem like one-offs (sorry but that's the impression i've gotten so far) will be better in the long run? you've gotten a good chunk of views just doing what you have now, but imagine multiplying that by dozens of episodes! i know eventually people peel off and don't watch the full playthrough, but it's still a lot, and hey i think that would make you more of a personality akin to vinny/joel from vinesauce eventually, if you just keep chugging along on them lets plays. thanks for reading :)

Here's a few details on the first few fighters you unlocked: Mario's side special, Cape, reflects projectiles and stalls your fall. Kirby has 4 mid-air jumps, giving him 5 jumps in total. Marth's down special is a counter. Get hit while the counter is active and you will take no damage and hit right back with 1.2x power. Edit: Also, if you want to buy the DLC, buy the Fighters Passes. You save 5 bucks, effectively giving you one fighter for free. Mii Fighter outfits are purely cosmetic as well. They do nothing but make your Fighter look pretty. Miis are made in the Switch's settings menu. After making a Mii, you can go to Games and More to find the Mii Fighters menu. There are three types: Swordfighter, Gunner, and Brawler. Each one has 3 special moves available to use for each of the 4 special slots.

I remember that in the 2000s/ early 2010s there was a lot of fics and YT series where Marth fell in love with Zelda lol. I had some sick fascination with that stuff at the time.
@Marion Gaming yes he is, to his childhood friend, and princess of the neighbor kingdom of Talys, Caeda (Shida, Sheda, depending of the region)she was a major help in Marth's crusade and their story is actually pretty sweet
Just a note on what every character can do, since it might be daunting at first glance. Jab: tap A Forward tilt: tilt control stick forward and press A Dash attack: Dash forward and press A Down tilt: crouch and press A Up tilt: tilt control stick up and press A (Recommended you turn off stick jump in the control settings, that way you can easily perform up-tilts Without jumping accidentally) Now for the aerials. While in the air: Neutral air: press A Forward air: press A while moving forward Back air: press A while moving backwards down air: press A while tilting the control stick Downwards Up air: press A while tilting the control stick upwards Now for the smash attacks: Forward smash: tilt the right stick forwards Up smash: tilt the right stick upwards Down smash: tilt the right stick downwards Specials. These will generally be each characters most unique attacks. Neutral special: press B Side special: press B while tilting the control stick to the side Down special: press B while tilting the control stick downwards up special: press B while tilting the control stick upwards (this is considered a general get back to stage move, so use in addition to the characters jump) Other important notes: Shield/grab with the bumpers. Generally, shield beats attack, attack beats grab, and grab beats shield. Kinda like Rock Paper Scissors :) tilting the stick to the left or right while shielding results in a roll. This can be useful for spacing your opponent while remaining invincible during the roll. If pressing shield in the air, you can air dodge. Can also be pointed in a direction to alter movement while in the air. Finally, the game does have a tips section if you look in the menu. Use this whenever you are confused on what a character does. Also, you can view a characters move set and particular quirks this way. Have fun :)
First I want to make this clear, some people will tell you to try this character and avoid this character yadda yadda, and while I think you should give characters and equal chance and mix things up sometimes, you can play whatever character you want, whenever you want. Also you don't have to play 1 specific character. I say this because sometimes the community will be kinda toxic and SCREAM at you for playing x character that they consider annoying or toxic to fight against or they don't want you to play a character because it is bad competitive or something (It's a loud minority though) Don't listen to them please, the most important thing is that you have FUN while playing a character, that's the beauty of the game, you can choose whatever you like.
It's not so much which character, it's how you play. People don't like when you waste time. If you camp and spam projectiles, or run in circles and waste the match with a fast character people hate it. But if you actually play the game making use of varied attacks it's more fun for everyone
honestly its interesting to see someone who's never played Smash Bros, well, play Smash Bros, I've played every single one and I never knew anyone who didnt play at least one. It does hurt a lil bit when he doesnt do something common, that I remember "oh yeah, hes never played a smash game before". So TLDR: Good Job

Back when the game first dropped, the "Challenger approaching" screen outside of world of light was horrifying. The CPUs knew how to systematically kick everyones ass. They even had to nerf some encounters so people could unlock some characters.

@@nicholaspeters9919 when the switch launched, Nintendo said that they had a chemical on them to make them taste bad so small children wouldn’t put them in their mouth and choke on them. As a result, pretty much every unboxing video for the switch involved licking of cartridges to see if they really tasted bad. It was a dumb trend.

I realized you never read the powers of the spirit battles in World of Light haha. So quick info on World of Light; That mode is a lot of fanservice for people who know Nintendo lol. The characters you fight are supposed to be mimicking the spirits that are controlling them. If you ever see a spirit you know, go fight it and look at the fight description, it might click. Also, you should try classic mode!
In like 7-8 years when the next Smash game comes out, this video will be in everyone's Recommended (that still uses YT despite seemingly increasingly poor decisions like removing captions) and a ton of the comments will be things like "why was he wearing a mask?" And "wow, I almost forgot when that was a thing" I am calling it now

Something you should be aware of: If you spam moves in the game they will weaken in power. Its something called "Stale Move Negation". I'd recommend looking it up for all the details, but tl:dr; the last 9 attacks that land on the opponent (actual hits or hits to their shield) will be remembered by the game. The more you land a particular move, like say the hammer (especially if repeated instead of spaced out. Example; hammer, hammer the hammer will deal less damage on the second one rather than say hammer, fire dash, hammer), it will deal less damage and knockback the next time. The way to power it back up? Land other attacks until the game refreshes it. Or, lose 1 stock(life)
You probubly already know this, but pay attention to your movement (input with your left joystick). Movement change your attacks and each attack have a purpose. If someone tells you to use "Up B" (Also "Up Special") for example, they mean press up with your left joystick and B. "Neutral" means not moving. Up B is usually an attack that moves your character up and will help you get back to stage. There are a few exceptions, but it applies to most characters. Neutral B is usually a utility function or an attack, depends on the fighter. Down B is usually a strong attack that is hard to land. It's also sometimes a counter attack or a reflector for projectiles. There are exceptions. Side B is just another attack. Anything with the A button is an attack. Do remember to use this button, there are too many players who use only the B button...

Lmao I was just mentionning the fact that you can't already have been trapped by Zelda's Final Smash if you never played with Smash Meter or items, which seems obvious. So there was no point... Nothing wrong about playing casual if you enjoy the game you know. You seem more filthy right now.
Funny enough, Marth was one of the best characters in the Gamecube game. He's a very spacing focused character. The tip of his sword does more damage and knockback, compared to the hilt/center. Here's some general tips, not sure if you picked it up, but each character has (atleast) four specials based on what direction you are holding when you press the special button. Kirby for example has Up B: Rising Cutter B: Inhale (or used a copied ability if you swallow the opponent, Like Link's Bow and Arrow, or Mario's Fireball) Side B: Hammer Down B: Stone Most characters have different normal attacks based on what direction you are pressing and if you are in the air or not. And each attack has it's own use. For example Kirby's Down Attack in the Air (DAir), a kind of corkscrew kick, knocks an aerial opponent into sharp downward angle, if you hit them off stage with the attack it's difficult if not impossible for them to recover at high percentages. This is called a spike or a meteor smash in the community. It's so much fun seeing people get into Nintendo properties for the first time, glad you're having fun. :)

I remember the first time booting up this game. Came out two days before my birthday so it was the perfect birthday gift and naturally I got it on release day. It was really exciting and there was so much to look through. I spent about 5 hours I think, getting all the characters and after that chore was done (and fast forwarding to the next day since I was a bit tired of unlocking them) my siblings and I played smash pretty much all the time for a long while. It was truly a great experience from hearing what's to come in the game to playing it. Never been more hyped for a game.

This video really reminded me of how I first got into Smash. My first Smash Bros game was Brawl in 2012. Before that I was a huge Mario nut, and if it wasn't for Smash Bros I probably would've still been picky about playing other games. In any case, I could tell you were super eager to try it after watching all those trailers, so I'm glad you decided to give this game a shot!
Dude. Forget Smash, you need to play Splatoon 2. If you like shooters like Halo, Splatoon 2 is gonna be an epiphany for you. Also Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Absolute classics. In fact, try Pikmin 3 Deluxe, which has a demo on the eShop and releases October 30th. Such an incredibly unique game.

You should try Earthbound, it's Nintendo's best game on the SNES, and it's sequel was even better (Unfortunately it was only released in Japan due to various controversies), Earthbound is where Ness is from, and it's sequel is where Lucas is from. Earthbound does kinda need a bit of time to adjust to certain elements of it, but the amount of polish on display for an SNES game is amazing, since your familiar with Playstation and Xbox games, consider Earthbound to be Nintendo's equivalent to The Last Of Us, just much more cherry and colorful, with a much more iconic soundtrack. If your wondering why Earthbound isn't more popular and well known like the Last Of Us, unfortunately, the game had an infamously terrible marketing direction, it had some scratch and sniff cards in Nintendo Power magazines for vommit monsters and moldy pizza, with the massive tagline "THIS GAME STINKS", saying things like "The first game with BO!", and unfortunately, this marketing direction ended up backfiring spectacularly, making people believe the game was legitimately horrible, combined with the fact that the game was about $20 more expensive then a standard SNES game due to the inclusion of a players guide, AND the fact that RPGs weren't popular in america yet due to a general misunderstanding of what they were and the fact that none of the big names we know today had really come out yet, and with the killing blow that was news organizations saying the game was horrible because they couldn't wrap their tiny brains around how a fucking RPG game works, and you had a game Nintendo expected to sell a few million copies sitting in bargain bins in your local superstore for about $5 since the stores just wanted to get rid of it at that point. It wasn't until years later when people revisited some old Nintendo Power magazines and found the ads that they revisited the game, expecting a broken mess of a game, only to find a masterpiece of video game storytelling and an extremely unique battle system. It's kinda sad in a way, Earthbound was a great game, and looking at the development history, it took almost 5 years to get released at all, with the entire game being restarted from scratch midway through just to get it finished on time, it's prequel which was released in japan had a English localization completely finished that was never released due to it being completed at the end of it's consoles lifespan, and the complete failure of Earthbound outside of Japan made Nintendo cancel the sequel for the N64, before eventually rebooting the project for the GBA and infamously release it only in Japan. If you've ever heard any of the memes asking Reggie for Mother 3, this is where it comes from, Mother 3 is the sequel to Earthbound.
This has probably been said a million times over by everyone else in the comment section, and you’ve probably figured most of this out by now anyway, but here’s a few basics you might’ve missed. Every character has two sets of attacks: normal attacks (which use A), and special attacks (which use B). Said attack changes based on your directional input, for instance pressing up and A as Kirby will make him do a simple kick upwards, pressing left and A will make him kick forward. There’s also neutral attacks, in which you press A or B without touching the control stick, in Kirby’s case A would do rapid jabs while B makes him inhale/use his copy ability. Of course every character has their own intricacies when it comes to different attacks, even if the button inputs are the same; an up A for Mario has him do a fast punch directly upwards, while Samus does a slower over head kick that arcs in front of her. Now, obviously just reading this by itself isn’t going to amount to much, heck I probably could have explained all this a lot better. You’ll get a far better understanding actually experimenting in game, as with any fighting game. In addition, there’s a “Tips” option in the “Vault” section of the menu that you can go through to get more detail on the fighters, gameplay, just about the whole game really.
If you were to ever try online, do it with friends instead of randoms (aka make a room and add people on your switch) Enjoy suffering if you do this cause online is.....*Fun*
I would like to give you some tips if you ever continue: If you’re in need of what special moves or knowledge of what moves for that character, when you pause in battle(not online) you’ll see a character move list showing the icon of the fighter and their list of specials and final smash. Anyway, this video reminded me of how I got ultimate when it came out nearly two years ago. I had trouble on learning the characters but after a while, I got the hang of fighting. Here’s hoping you’re at least trying to enjoy the fun and wacky nature of smash ultimate as you haven’t seen the rest the game has to offer.

Here's a few details on the first few fighters you unlocked:
Mario's side special, Cape, reflects projectiles and stalls your fall.
Kirby has 4 mid-air jumps, giving him 5 jumps in total.
Marth's down special is a counter. Get hit while the counter is active and you will take no damage and hit right back with 1.2x power.
Edit: Also, if you want to buy the DLC, buy the Fighters Passes. You save 5 bucks, effectively giving you one fighter for free.
Mii Fighter outfits are purely cosmetic as well. They do nothing but make your Fighter look pretty.
Miis are made in the Switch's settings menu. After making a Mii, you can go to Games and More to find the Mii Fighters menu.
There are three types: Swordfighter, Gunner, and Brawler. Each one has 3 special moves available to use for each of the 4 special slots.
Also, TIPPAH.

Just a note on what every character can do, since it might be daunting at first glance.
Jab: tap A
Forward tilt: tilt control stick forward and press A
Dash attack: Dash forward and press A
Down tilt: crouch and press A
Up tilt: tilt control stick up and press A
(Recommended you turn off stick jump in the control settings, that way you can easily perform up-tilts Without jumping accidentally)
Now for the aerials. While in the air:
Neutral air: press A
Forward air: press A while moving forward
Back air: press A while moving backwards
down air: press A while tilting the control stick Downwards
Up air: press A while tilting the control stick upwards
Now for the smash attacks:
Forward smash: tilt the right stick forwards
Up smash: tilt the right stick upwards
Down smash: tilt the right stick downwards
Specials. These will generally be each characters most unique attacks.
Neutral special: press B
Side special: press B while tilting the control stick to the side
Down special: press B while tilting the control stick downwards
up special: press B while tilting the control stick upwards (this is considered a general get back to stage move, so use in addition to the characters jump)
Other important notes:
Shield/grab with the bumpers. Generally, shield beats attack, attack beats grab, and grab beats shield. Kinda like Rock Paper Scissors :)
tilting the stick to the left or right while shielding results in a roll. This can be useful for spacing your opponent while remaining invincible during the roll. If pressing shield in the air, you can air dodge. Can also be pointed in a direction to alter movement while in the air.
Finally, the game does have a tips section if you look in the menu. Use this whenever you are confused on what a character does. Also, you can view a characters move set and particular quirks this way. Have fun :)
Yeah he should definitely look at the tips and move set sections. Like not knowing kirby has 5 jumps hurt him alot.
First I want to make this clear, some people will tell you to try this character and avoid this character yadda yadda, and while I think you should give characters and equal chance and mix things up sometimes, you can play whatever character you want, whenever you want. Also you don't have to play 1 specific character.
I say this because sometimes the community will be kinda toxic and SCREAM at you for playing x character that they consider annoying or toxic to fight against or they don't want you to play a character because it is bad competitive or something (It's a loud minority though) Don't listen to them please, the most important thing is that you have FUN while playing a character, that's the beauty of the game, you can choose whatever you like.

Back when the game first dropped, the "Challenger approaching" screen outside of world of light was horrifying. The CPUs knew how to systematically kick everyones ass. They even had to nerf some encounters so people could unlock some characters.

So quick info on World of Light; That mode is a lot of fanservice for people who know Nintendo lol. The characters you fight are supposed to be mimicking the spirits that are controlling them. If you ever see a spirit you know, go fight it and look at the fight description, it might click.

Something you should be aware of: If you spam moves in the game they will weaken in power. Its something called "Stale Move Negation". I'd recommend looking it up for all the details, but tl:dr; the last 9 attacks that land on the opponent (actual hits or hits to their shield) will be remembered by the game. The more you land a particular move, like say the hammer (especially if repeated instead of spaced out. Example; hammer, hammer the hammer will deal less damage on the second one rather than say hammer, fire dash, hammer), it will deal less damage and knockback the next time. The way to power it back up? Land other attacks until the game refreshes it. Or, lose 1 stock(life)

And when you use a new attack you actually get a 5% extra damage freshness damage.

You probubly already know this, but pay attention to your movement (input with your left joystick).
Movement change your attacks and each attack have a purpose.
If someone tells you to use "Up B" (Also "Up Special") for example, they mean press up with your left joystick and B. "Neutral" means not moving.
Up B is usually an attack that moves your character up and will help you get back to stage. There are a few exceptions, but it applies to most characters.
Neutral B is usually a utility function or an attack, depends on the fighter.
Down B is usually a strong attack that is hard to land. It's also sometimes a counter attack or a reflector for projectiles. There are exceptions.
Side B is just another attack.
Anything with the A button is an attack. Do remember to use this button, there are too many players who use only the B button...

I was just mentionning the fact that you can't already have been trapped by Zelda's Final Smash if you never played with Smash Meter or items, which seems obvious. So there was no point... Nothing wrong about playing casual if you enjoy the game you know. You seem more filthy right now.
Funny enough, Marth was one of the best characters in the Gamecube game. He's a very spacing focused character. The tip of his sword does more damage and knockback, compared to the hilt/center.
Here's some general tips, not sure if you picked it up, but each character has (atleast) four specials based on what direction you are holding when you press the special button.
Kirby for example has
Up B: Rising Cutter
B: Inhale (or used a copied ability if you swallow the opponent, Like Link's Bow and Arrow, or Mario's Fireball)
Side B: Hammer
Down B: Stone
Most characters have different normal attacks based on what direction you are pressing and if you are in the air or not. And each attack has it's own use.
For example Kirby's Down Attack in the Air (DAir), a kind of corkscrew kick, knocks an aerial opponent into sharp downward angle, if you hit them off stage with the attack it's difficult if not impossible for them to recover at high percentages.
This is called a spike or a meteor smash in the community.
It's so much fun seeing people get into Nintendo properties for the first time, glad you're having fun. :)

I remember the first time booting up this game. Came out two days before my birthday so it was the perfect birthday gift and naturally I got it on release day. It was really exciting and there was so much to look through. I spent about 5 hours I think, getting all the characters and after that chore was done (and fast forwarding to the next day since I was a bit tired of unlocking them) my siblings and I played smash pretty much all the time for a long while. It was truly a great experience from hearing what's to come in the game to playing it. Never been more hyped for a game.

This video really reminded me of how I first got into Smash. My first Smash Bros game was Brawl in 2012. Before that I was a huge Mario nut, and if it wasn't for Smash Bros I probably would've still been picky about playing other games.

You should try Earthbound, it's Nintendo's best game on the SNES, and it's sequel was even better (Unfortunately it was only released in Japan due to various controversies), Earthbound is where Ness is from, and it's sequel is where Lucas is from. Earthbound does kinda need a bit of time to adjust to certain elements of it, but the amount of polish on display for an SNES game is amazing, since your familiar with Playstation and Xbox games, consider Earthbound to be Nintendo's equivalent to The Last Of Us, just much more cherry and colorful, with a much more iconic soundtrack.
If your wondering why Earthbound isn't more popular and well known like the Last Of Us, unfortunately, the game had an infamously terrible marketing direction, it had some scratch and sniff cards in Nintendo Power magazines for vommit monsters and moldy pizza, with the massive tagline "THIS GAME STINKS", saying things like "The first game with BO!", and unfortunately, this marketing direction ended up backfiring spectacularly, making people believe the game was legitimately horrible, combined with the fact that the game was about $20 more expensive then a standard SNES game due to the inclusion of a players guide, AND the fact that RPGs weren't popular in america yet due to a general misunderstanding of what they were and the fact that none of the big names we know today had really come out yet, and with the killing blow that was news organizations saying the game was horrible because they couldn't wrap their tiny brains around how a fucking RPG game works, and you had a game Nintendo expected to sell a few million copies sitting in bargain bins in your local superstore for about $5 since the stores just wanted to get rid of it at that point. It wasn't until years later when people revisited some old Nintendo Power magazines and found the ads that they revisited the game, expecting a broken mess of a game, only to find a masterpiece of video game storytelling and an extremely unique battle system.
It's kinda sad in a way, Earthbound was a great game, and looking at the development history, it took almost 5 years to get released at all, with the entire game being restarted from scratch midway through just to get it finished on time, it's prequel which was released in japan had a English localization completely finished that was never released due to it being completed at the end of it's consoles lifespan, and the complete failure of Earthbound outside of Japan made Nintendo cancel the sequel for the N64, before eventually rebooting the project for the GBA and infamously release it only in Japan. If you've ever heard any of the memes asking Reggie for Mother 3, this is where it comes from, Mother 3 is the sequel to Earthbound.
This has probably been said a million times over by everyone else in the comment section, and you’ve probably figured most of this out by now anyway, but here’s a few basics you might’ve missed.
Every character has two sets of attacks: normal attacks (which use A), and special attacks (which use B). Said attack changes based on your directional input, for instance pressing up and A as Kirby will make him do a simple kick upwards, pressing left and A will make him kick forward. There’s also neutral attacks, in which you press A or B without touching the control stick, in Kirby’s case A would do rapid jabs while B makes him inhale/use his copy ability. Of course every character has their own intricacies when it comes to different attacks, even if the button inputs are the same; an up A for Mario has him do a fast punch directly upwards, while Samus does a slower over head kick that arcs in front of her.
Now, obviously just reading this by itself isn’t going to amount to much, heck I probably could have explained all this a lot better. You’ll get a far better understanding actually experimenting in game, as with any fighting game. In addition, there’s a “Tips” option in the “Vault” section of the menu that you can go through to get more detail on the fighters, gameplay, just about the whole game really.
If you were to ever try online, do it with friends instead of randoms (aka make a room and add people on your switch) Enjoy suffering if you do this cause online is.....*Fun*
I would like to give you some tips if you ever continue: If you’re in need of what special moves or knowledge of what moves for that character, when you pause in battle(not online) you’ll see a character move list showing the icon of the fighter and their list of specials and final smash.
Anyway, this video reminded me of how I got ultimate when it came out nearly two years ago. I had trouble on learning the characters but after a while, I got the hang of fighting. Here’s hoping you’re at least trying to enjoy the fun and wacky nature of smash ultimate as you haven’t seen the rest the game has to offer.
