- On Tuesday, March 20th, a Tornado Warning was issued for the Lake Buena Vista/Magic Kingdom area in Orlando, Florida. We happened to get caught right in the middle of it. This is what happened.

when i went to disney for the very first time I remember there was a huge storm that hit the Disney park in Florida but when we were leaving to get to our hotel, the fireworks came out. Disney tries so hard to keep magic in the air and I appreciate it.

@@haydenator1 I got that, but I'm just saying this was a bigger deal then a regular tornado warning. Ysterday there was a bad Tornado in South Florida. A PDS in a big city is a tornado emergency, so that's what that Warning would be. I would definitely run like Forest in a tornado emergency.

More than half of tornado warnings are from radar indicated rotation that is prominent enough to see it as a likely threat. One thing is for certain; amusement park rides are one of the top ten places you do NOT wanna be on/in during any kind of storm, especially one where lightning is present since most of these rides contain electrically conducive metals and to boot, most of the parts the people ride in are not insulated against said conductivity and/or do not have proper evacuation procedures in case of something like severe weather being an issue.
Anyway, rotation means that there's a good chance a tornado will form; the stronger the rotation, the larger this chance is, but it is never one hundred percent certainty. Most rotating thunderstorms never develop further, otherwise, tornadoes would be the most common weather event on the planet. Eighty percent of all thunderstorms (including thundersnow storms and thunderstorms that become sleet/snow storms due to temperature drops) have at minimum, mild rotation associated with them. It is when this rotation becomes strong enough to form a vortex that a tornado forms, or more accurately, a funnel cloud appears. I only saw a few instances in the beginning of the video where there could of been decently strong rotation, but other than that, not much to see. I didn't see a pronounced mesocyclone anywhere, so that was also a good sign. Now, that storm could of developed more once it left your area, and then could of produced more intense weather situations later on, which does happen more often than most people think, since most people are self-centric when it comes to this sort of thing (survival instinct tends to be this way).
Dude pirates was such a smart ride choice. That’s an underground ride! Completely safe from a tornado. Florida tornadoes are never more than F2s so nothing too powerful. Definitely scary but nothing deadly. I was stuck on one on the freeway just a week ago in Lakeland and it definitely caused damage to cars. Disney is very sturdy with their buildings.

My ex worked at Disney in 2004/05 hurricane seasons. We went around right after Charley (cat 2 when it got to Orlando/Kissimmee) and it was eerie how much destruction hit yet when you went on property the line of debris stopped and the crews had all but the worst of the damage cleaned up within hours. It was almost like a dome was dropped over the property and we always joked that there was one that kept the parks safe from any major weather damage. They opened the next day for all the Tampa evacuees (ironic it didn't hit them despite dire warnings)so we could clean up.

I was there during that at the TTC monorail station. For those of you who do not know, that place is entirely open-air with no indoor areas. I was with my parents and they would not go to the nearby indoor resort. I live in Chicago so I am no stranger to tornadoes, but it still scared the heck out of me.

If you’ve ever lived in north/central Florida you know the weather will only be scary for a couple hours. And then it’s super sunny. It rains most afternoons around 3-4, which was when I had to walk home from school. Good old Florida

When I went to the magic Kingdom a while back, there was a flag pole 50 feet in front of me struck by lightning...it was terrifying. It was little, so I was scared of rain for about 5 years afterwards. We later learned that same storm ripped the roofs off of multiple buildings..and nearly killed many different people. Even the happiest place on Earth can leave fear in a person.

It's March! Tornadoes don't hit until Tornado Season. Which is April-June
AnimeGirl4891 tornados can happen at any time in the year though tornado season is when they’re most common. Since they occur in supercell storms, which in turn are rare, those are what spark tornados. :)
Really depends on your location in the world. For tornado alley in the Midwest, yes, tornadoes primarily occur around April through June. The southeastern US gets the same atmospheric ingredients tornado alley does during February through April so this is more common for them during this time.
