Hi 👋🏻 I’ve gotten a lot of comments on this video claiming free roam is impossible while working or going to school full time. I’ve worked full time and did school part time all while allowing 24/7 free roam for my ferrets. It’s very doable. Please refrain from leaving a snarky comment assuming that I don’t work for a living! I had a ferret safe space for them to be out in while at work.
im scared to free roam.. its just if i do get ferrets like ive been planning though it could be a few years, what if they are destructive and need to be watched whenever they're out?

Since this is your most recent video, I just wanted to let you know that I actually didn't know ferret cages were a thing until about a year or two ago. When I was a kid, my aunt's ferrets were 100% free roam and I thought that was the normal approach. Now that I know more about ferrets, I firmly believe that they should be caged at night or when you aren't home just for their own safety. HOWEVER, if you are home and not asleep, those ferrets better be out and about. I agree with you that 4 hours of free roam isn't enough, but I actually feel like 6 hours should be the bare minimum

My two ferrets have their own room in the house for free-play at least 6 hours a day, usually more. Question:I’m in secondary school and if I got a ferret I would have to keep it in its cage 7hours a day (when I’m at school) and do homework for about 2 hours which leaves me with about 3 1/2 hours with the ferret. Am I in the right conditions for a ferret?
So I let my ferret free roam my room all day. I don’t cage mine at all, but I make sure my room is well cleaned and baby proofed so I don’t have to worry about him when I’m gone. I would suggest that if you can’t give them 6 hours (in my opinion) free roam. I would reconsider another type of pet.
I have a question, I might get a ferret in April and I was thinking of letting them out at 2:40-6:40 p.m and then at 6:40 p.m I could put them in the cage so I can eat dinner and do homework and then at 7:40-9:40 p.m they could play more, the total would be of 6 hour do you think thats good ?
I’m a rat mom but I love watching your videos even though I have no intentions of getting a ferret. I love the information you provide (for example I didn’t know they need so much free roam time!) Side note: I love your glasses 🥰 much love from the rat community
i have a question i share a room ( my sister doesn’t mind) could i let them out of cage when i’m at school if it’s ferret safe or is that just in safe in general
Julia Crazy tube You CAN do this if the room is super safe. There are lots of articles online on ferret proofing. This is what I did when I lived at home, they were out 24/7 in my bedroom.
Hi Bryn, I have a clip on crock and a bottle for my ferret Mushu. I didn't have the bottle at first but everytime I would put fresh water in it, she would splash it all out. It tried putting it up higher but she stand up and do the same thing. Any suggestions?
If she's young, she might grow out of it. But you could also try is giving her some water time outside the cage so she gets her swim fix in an appropriate setting!
I really wish I had found your channel earlier! I would have loved to submit my ferret setup to see what pointers you can give me. I already love your channel so much (I've been trying to find a ferret centered pet youtuber for ages) and I'm definitely going to be taking some of these pointers and applying them to my fuzzies setups
how do you get your ferret to stop biting? mine is a baby that i got yesterday. but he bites hard. and i don’t want to make him aggressive and i want to discipline him the right way.
HOW DO I GET RID OF FLEAS I DONT KNOW IF THEY HURT MY FARRET I JUST FOUND OUT AND I DONT WANA USE SOME KIND OF FLEA SOAP IF IT HURTS THEM PLEASE RESPOND (MY CAP LOCK IS STUCK SO SORRY FOR CAPS 😂)
When you said ferrets don’t need toys, it depends on the ferret. Some ferrets don’t play with them as much, but my ferret LOVES toys. He has little stuffed animals that he can’t sleep without. He uses it as comfort and warmth.
Oh alright! Also how should I have my ferret out and playing? My room isn’t good for him to be out in and I really have no way to barricade it, I was thinking getting my ferret a dog play pen so he can run around in there, but I just want to know if there might be a better way?
Quick question are rabbit cages ok for ferrets if it will only be for sleeping and they can Rome your room for nearly all the day ? Because I see lots of the wires tall cages but was just wondering if rabbit cages are ok bc someone told me they was?
I’m new to getting ferrets, but I’ve done a lot of research, I will be getting a ferret nation cage, will that be decent for 2 ferrets? I will be letting them out though as much as possible!
Celeste Novali i have 4 ferrets in one of the big 2 story ferret nation cage, i think that the ferret nation cage is the best option for them because it is very big and it is not closed in so they have great ventilation in the cage! make sure you have 2 litter boxes in the corners so they don’t go in other corners and clean them twice a day! we duct taped the litter boxes to the corners so they can’t move them. hope this helped you!
Heyyy so I really want ferrets and I have been studying everything they need for a happy life. But I have school from from 6am until 3:30pm. I could play with them for basically the rest of the time until around 10pm. And all day on Saturday’s and sundays. Do you think that this is enough time?
how do i make a dig box and how do i prevent them throwing everything everywhere. my one ferret can’t use a litter box for this reason, he just sticks his head under and throws it everywhere
Um in seven months I am going to get a pet ferret but I have club at school that makes me stay at school for a total of 9 hours then with karate ( I really love the D&D club that I go to and love karate ) I go to karate 3 hours after school I have karate from 6:15 till 7:15 karate is Mondays and Wednesday’s and D&D is Tuesday and Friday, I was wondering if it would be okay to bring a ferret to school? Or is there anything else I can do to get play time in?
My dad had a ferret in collage and once it fell out of his window (3 story’s high) when he was doing homework and it was perfectly fine they did take it to the vet to make sure but it was totally fine😂
Hopefully you're still checking comments, I keep getting different answers on if this is ok. I only let my ferrets out about 1-2 hours a day to play and roam the house but they have an entire 10×12 ft ferret proofed room to play in. They're in their cage overnight with no toys and let out in the morning. I work at home and check on them every couple hours. I have a toddler so I can't let them roam all the time because I'm afraid the baby will hurt them
I understand that you fear that ur toddler could hurt ur ferret. I'm not judging but wth my ferret bear for example. My place was ferret proofed n his cage I left open. At night I put him in his cage. I honestly don't think it's fair to him at all. Bc they have to be able to roam around for more than 4 hours. If that's case I'd tbh take him to a shelter.Bc it's not fair for toddler& ferrets need out play furbabies. ✌️✌️❤️
I just got my ferret and I'm learning so much from you.. I'm working to free roaming 24/7 but for now they have a room I have the thru way tube and pop n play ball pit I threw away lots of the toys that came with them because they was tiny and easy to chock on.. I'm going to make a dig in box!!
i’m getting ferrets next year but i still go to school, should i let them out when i wake up, put them back in when i go and let them out again when i come home?
I wanna thank you, You are one of the main people I go to for info on ferrets! 2nd day with my friends and I’m already attached and your knowledge differently helped! I’m thinking about switching my ferret to whole prey raw feed diet. And tomorrow going to take legs off my couches and stuff to further ferret proof their free roam area! Keep the videos coming. You’re amazing! Thank you for helping with tips and tricks to keep my buddies safer!
Hey, I have a very important question. I would like to know if I can make my ferret be able to free roam 24/7. Ferret proofing everything and all that, like a main room that they can stay in when we are not home and then when we are home they can roam the whole house. Also what is your view or opinion on walking Ferrets?
Namibian Hamies YES this is perfect! 24/7 free roam is ideal. They should live like cats! I still recommend having a cage for them just in case you have guests over or if you’ll be gone for many hours at a time. Similar to crating a dog when you leave.
Bryn Katharine thank you so much. I do not own a ferret yet, but I wanted to know if it was possible, because I see them as being able to be just like cats and dogs ( just some extra attention for how sneaky they are) Thank your reply, I highly appreciate it.
Namibian Hamies I love finding people that feel the same way as I do. You’ll notice when you have a ferret how happy they’ll be outside of a cage all day. Good luck!
Honestly I leave my ferrets cage open all night, should I start locking it? They don’t seem to be doing anything just sometimes they climb on my bed and lick my toes
I lived in a 2 bed flat and just gave my guys the flat, lock boxed everything I considered toxic, Hazardous. As I have home cinema I built my own. I so love my guys and it was very challenging keeping them locked up, having 7.
this video was super informative, tysm! currently not in a situation where i feel prepared to get a ferret but i would really love to get some someday once i have the space and money for it :3 learning about them in the meantime is very fun lol
Should i start with one or get a pair? I have a Siberian Husky (Nanook)and an Orange Tabby (Thorne) and they’re both very sweet and gentle with each other. Thanks!
I’m getting ferrets soon and I’m having a shed built for them as I’m not aloud them in the house, it will be like 3 meters by 4m, do they need their own sleeping cage or just a bed/hammock sleeping area in the space?😁
I used to have stuffed beds in my ferrets cages but then I noticed they’d always burrow into them and try to sleep in the stuffing. I quickly learned that they weren’t a good choice for my ferrets and they much prefer just mountains of blankets in their cage to burrow and sleep in. My ferrets always dig at the water bowls too so I’m gonna try that tip of clipping them up higher than usual to see if that helps any.
I totally agree with cage free roaming. Its just so important and my guys hated being locked up. I free roamed from day one, so they had my living room, carpet roll cage, crinkle tubes. I think if ferrets could talk they would be screaming let me out!
I Love it! But... i have a quesion. Can i get a smaller Cage no no no its not like really small just a One story Cage bc i Play for hours with them every day in my room and outside?
Hello! I'm trying to research as much as I can about ferrets and I've struggled finding reliable RUclipsrs with ferrets and I was wondering if I could trust you on advice . Don't get me wrong you seem very very well educated and I'm so sorry if I sound horrible..
I can’t tell you whether you should trust me or not, haha! That’s for you to decide from watching my content. I believe I do lots of research paired with my personal experience
Do you have a way to show you a picture of the home we have for Finn our ferret plus we have some questions we were wondering about since we got our ferret because they couldn't take care of him an so i said we would take him he went from one story house to three but he gets to free rome the house
My ferrets have a 2 story cage with a blanket and 2 hammocks inside with a food dish, water dish, and water bottle. In the room for them while free roaming they have 2 tents, many little cat toys and other small stuffed toys (none in the cage) , a sleeping bag, and a tiny cat scratch ramp they can climb on safely, and a tunnel. I let them free roam from the time I wake up until the time I go to bed. They're only locked in their cage at night time. Oh and the whole bottom of their cage is a large litter box for them. They're so spoiler lol
Me and my sister are planning on getting 2 ferrets and I we your planning on using her walk in closet as like there main base but we still wanted a cage for like there bedding and stuff but still have the door open of the cage so then can stay in the closet and still free roam then for more then 4 hours but would that be big enough
I having a hardtime with my Snuggie eating enough or eating the more nutritious foods. What and how can i get him to try new things. He looked like he was losing weight . he way fussy
I don’t have a ferret (yet) but from all the cage reviews and videos I’ve watched I’ve heard that the double ferret nation cage is the best option ( its about $240) but you can also buy the single ferret nation cage (it’s about $150) but I think it’s way to small for a ferret
I’m trying to convince my parents to let me have a ferret. (I’m still saving I’m pretty close and have a full list of everything I need. Plus already have visions of what the cage would look like) the only problem is where to put the cage, the only idea I have is to put the cage in a closet I have and take off the doors, although I thought of keeping the doors on and closing the doors to the closet at night so it’s nice and dark for them. (Only problem is it could over heat) do you have any tips about anything I have said? Thank you.
So even through I don't plan on having a ferret for another year or so, I was wondering if its okay to start with one ferret and work on training it for about a month before adding another to my family? In my mind that would make it easier for me to have behaved ferrets, but would that be wrong to do?
I tried using a normal litter box and the will go to the corner of the litter box and just poop on the edge or it just goes right over so I had to go with the largest corner litter pan I could find. I do still offer the cat box to then but they use the corner ones more now
Ok i would love your opinion on this. I could get 2 angora ferrets in spring for free (it would be a gift) or i could get 2 non angoras in december what do you think i should do?
That’s personal preference. Angoras are very lovely. I do not believe there are different health issues between them and standards. I prefer standards (sables, in particular) as they are the most natural ferret “breed” and color. Angoras were created by man, and are incapable of producing young. I don’t think this is detrimental to their health, I just generally prefer a more natural ferret. It’s up to you!
I have a question, I recently got my first ferret and the pet store owner was washing him a lot, like almost every day and he’s scratching a lot and producing a lot of stink because of it. I was wondering if there was a way to help with the itching?
A Potato Ghost Yes ferrets should only be washed with soap once a year (or none at all- it’s not needed) and instead have oatmeal soaks but not frequently. The only thing that will help restore the ferrets natural oils is not bathing him. Introduce fish oil like salmon into the diet as a treat. Feeding a healthy natural raw diet will eliminate maybe 80% of the ferrets smell.
First off.... Luv you!!! ... Good advice ... Second ...You are B.A.U.T FULL.. YOU ROCK!!! ...never let the haters win...and realliy don't mean that in a creepy way! luv the fur babies , wish I could post some of my Lucy...really need to catch up with tech!
Since my ferrets are now kept outside they have a quilt in their sleeping area that they snuggle in, since you dont recommend stuffed things do you think it's safe?
and a question about the cage/ free roam time what if I have a 16-18 ferret cage but can only let my ferret free roam for a max of 3-4 hours due to school but I have a 14-week old ferret who only needs 3-4 hours and if I give her more she just sleeps so I put her back in her cage when she starts to sleep. I'm new to ferret owning and are planning to breed them so I want them to be the best in the best health and pretty trained in not biting. my ferret also when is in free roam plays with my mini sausage dog but they don't play rough and enjoy each others company

I have a question, I might get a ferret in April and I was thinking of letting them out at 2:40-6:40 p.m and then at 6:40 p.m I could put them in the cage so I can eat dinner and do homework and then at 7:40-9:40 p.m they could play more, the total would be of 6 hour do you think thats good ?
yes!
Yea definitely
Definitely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yep
I only have one ferret at the moment but I'm working on getting a double ferret nation so I can adopt another lol.
8:45 you ferret behind🥰🥰🥺🥺☺️☺️😂🤣😅
I’m a rat mom but I love watching your videos even though I have no intentions of getting a ferret. I love the information you provide (for example I didn’t know they need so much free roam time!) Side note: I love your glasses 🥰 much love from the rat community
Who else saw her ferret at the back trying to open the cupboard when she didn’t realise🤣🤧🥺
i have a question i share a room ( my sister doesn’t mind) could i let them out of cage when i’m at school if it’s ferret safe or is that just in safe in general
Julia Crazy tube You CAN do this if the room is super safe. There are lots of articles online on ferret proofing. This is what I did when I lived at home, they were out 24/7 in my bedroom.
thank you and your fuzzies are so adorable ly
I loved this video it was great & l don't even have a ferret! 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you!! x

Literally no ferret in history:

Hi Bryn, I have a clip on crock and a bottle for my ferret Mushu. I didn't have the bottle at first but everytime I would put fresh water in it, she would splash it all out. It tried putting it up higher but she stand up and do the same thing. Any suggestions?
If she's young, she might grow out of it. But you could also try is giving her some water time outside the cage so she gets her swim fix in an appropriate setting!
@@mildlynerdy thanks I'll try that. She is only 6 months old.
holisticferretforum.com/care-and-enrichment/cages-and-bedding/water-dishes/ this link has lots of advice on this topic! Good luck!
@@Pazuandfriends the link was very helpful! Thanks so much!
I have a question you know those small ropes that are for small dogs can you give them to ferrets
You mean like rope toys? Sure, if they're sturdy. They unravel fast though and you have to throw them out. I'd stick to hard plastic toys!
Thank you for answering my question
how do you get your ferret to stop biting? mine is a baby that i got yesterday. but he bites hard. and i don’t want to make him aggressive and i want to discipline him the right way.
HOW DO I GET RID OF FLEAS I DONT KNOW IF THEY HURT MY FARRET I JUST FOUND OUT AND I DONT WANA USE SOME KIND OF FLEA SOAP IF IT HURTS THEM PLEASE RESPOND (MY CAP LOCK IS STUCK SO SORRY FOR CAPS 😂)
Please take your ferrets to the vet.
Pazuandfriends ty for replying I will make him an appointment as soon as I can
Diatomaceous earth
When you said ferrets don’t need toys, it depends on the ferret. Some ferrets don’t play with them as much, but my ferret LOVES toys. He has little stuffed animals that he can’t sleep without. He uses it as comfort and warmth.
I meant moreso they don't need them in the cage :) I love having toys out for play time!
Oh alright! Also how should I have my ferret out and playing? My room isn’t good for him to be out in and I really have no way to barricade it, I was thinking getting my ferret a dog play pen so he can run around in there, but I just want to know if there might be a better way?
Also would you recommend ferret collars? I might want to get mine a collar I just don’t know if that is the best idea?
I’m thinking about getting ferrets but I would have practice after school everyday till 6, do you think I can still do it?
Quick question are rabbit cages ok for ferrets if it will only be for sleeping and they can Rome your room for nearly all the day ? Because I see lots of the wires tall cages but was just wondering if rabbit cages are ok bc someone told me they was?
Her:I was watching Lennon the bunny and I know nothing about bunny’s
Me:🤯😳😱
Me:I know too much about bunny’s
Same I did so much research. And I'm planning on getting a bunny
Super happy to see you advocating for plenty of free roam time!
Where is everyone getting the small grey donut beds from !? 😂
Oppa in the background was so funny she is so cute!
Heyyy so I really want ferrets and I have been studying everything they need for a happy life. But I have school from from 6am until 3:30pm. I could play with them for basically the rest of the time until around 10pm. And all day on Saturday’s and sundays. Do you think that this is enough time?
yes, you could also take them out while you’re getting ready for school. ferrets adjust their schedule to fit yours
how do i make a dig box and how do i prevent them throwing everything everywhere. my one ferret can’t use a litter box for this reason, he just sticks his head under and throws it everywhere
Hello! I need your help, i want a ferret but having a hard time convincing my parents. Could you tell me how i could try convince them? Thanks!😁

Hi just curious is a single critter nation enough for one ferret??? I might get a ferret but am trying to do a ton of research and am saving up😊
I wanna thank you, You are one of the main people I go to for info on ferrets!
How long would you recommend them going outside?
Ava Pappas cool because mine go outside for 45 mins their free roamed
Hey, I have a very important question. I would like to know if I can make my ferret be able to free roam 24/7. Ferret proofing everything and all that, like a main room that they can stay in when we are not home and then when we are home they can roam the whole house. Also what is your view or opinion on walking Ferrets?
Namibian Hamies YES this is perfect! 24/7 free roam is ideal. They should live like cats! I still recommend having a cage for them just in case you have guests over or if you’ll be gone for many hours at a time. Similar to crating a dog when you leave.
OR you can use the safe room like you mentioned as their “crate” ! That’s even better.
Bryn Katharine thank you so much. I do not own a ferret yet, but I wanted to know if it was possible, because I see them as being able to be just like cats and dogs ( just some extra attention for how sneaky they are)
Thank your reply, I highly appreciate it.
Namibian Hamies I love finding people that feel the same way as I do. You’ll notice when you have a ferret how happy they’ll be outside of a cage all day. Good luck!
Bryn Katharine thank you soo much. And I really really appreciate that you replied on my comment
I love the way you explain and how kind you are thanks for your help!
Is it okay to let your ferrets play in the snow (on a harness) I want to know if it's bad for them
this video was super informative, tysm! currently not in a situation where i feel prepared to get a ferret but i would really love to get some someday once i have the space and money for it :3 learning about them in the meantime is very fun lol
I was thinking of getting a ferret and this channel has given me so much information about them .
Make sure to get 2 or more
Yukii301 I will they are social I am getting two
Should i start with one or get a pair?
When I saw your phone case I was like OH WOW
I totally agree with cage free roaming. Its just so important and my guys hated being locked up. I free roamed from day one, so they had my living room, carpet roll cage, crinkle tubes.
I think if ferrets could talk they would be screaming let me out!
I Love it! But... i have a quesion.
Can i get a smaller Cage no no no its not like really small just a One story Cage bc i Play for hours with them every day in my room and outside?
No, you can't get a smaller cage.
I had a cat tower and was gonna use it for ferrets when I got them. Can I like take off the top part that’s very high and let them have the condo part
Is the Fiesty Ferret cage a good cage? I just adopted a ferret yesterday, I named her Maple and I wanna give her the best life I can
Is it ok to have only one ferret? not 2 3 4 +
from what I learned, its okay to have 1 ferret but you have to play with it and let it free roam wayy more than having more than one ferret
14:36 what about if you remove the upper most platform and is only given when supervised?
I've been setting up the habitat for my first ferret, and this video was insanely helpful in terms of prioritizing and safety. Thank you!
Hello! I'm trying to research as much as I can about ferrets and I've struggled finding reliable RUclipsrs with ferrets and I was wondering if I could trust you on advice . Don't get me wrong you seem very very well educated and I'm so sorry if I sound horrible..

What if they get fleas
I have a roach problem, what can I use that won't hurt my ferret?
23:22 it's a ferret nation, you can see the door on the left
No, it’s from PetSmart it’s a All living thing’s condo
I’m trying to convince my parents to let me have a ferret. (I’m still saving I’m pretty close and have a full list of everything I need. Plus already have visions of what the cage would look like) the only problem is where to put the cage, the only idea I have is to put the cage in a closet I have and take off the doors, although I thought of keeping the doors on and closing the doors to the closet at night so it’s nice and dark for them. (Only problem is it could over heat) do you have any tips about anything I have said? Thank you.
you could get a cage cover for them
So even through I don't plan on having a ferret for another year or so, I was wondering if its okay to start with one ferret and work on training it for about a month before adding another to my family? In my mind that would make it easier for me to have behaved ferrets, but would that be wrong to do?
Also I think that having my first ferret better behaved, maybe the second one will follow a little easier?
As long as you are playing with it almost all the time, so if you go to work, or school, get more than 1
I tried using a normal litter box and the will go to the corner of the litter box and just poop on the edge or it just goes right over so I had to go with the largest corner litter pan I could find.
@@Pazuandfriends angora ferrets can't reproduce?? I've never heard of that
brown_ gurl they do not produce enough milk to raise their young. Breeding them is challenging. What I meant was they can’t support their own babies.
I have a question,
I recently got my first ferret and the pet store owner was washing him a lot, like almost every day and he’s scratching a lot and producing a lot of stink because of it.
Considering that next christmas i am getting a ferret, this is helpful!
By the way I love how the part of your house that you filmed I’m! It’s sooo cute looking! Oh and your phone case is so cute! I want one!
26:55 where can i buy these blankets for cages that go on levels and stuff . Does someone have a link?
First off.... Luv you!!! ... Good advice ... Second ...You are B.A.U.T FULL.. YOU ROCK!!! ...never let the haters win...and realliy don't mean that in a creepy way! luv the fur babies , wish I could post some of my Lucy...really need to catch up with tech!
Since my ferrets are now kept outside they have a quilt in their sleeping area that they snuggle in, since you dont recommend stuffed things do you think it's safe?
It depends, you can always take the stuffing out of the quilt and sew it back up.
and a question about the cage/ free roam time what if I have a 16-18 ferret cage but can only let my ferret free roam for a max of 3-4 hours due to school but I have a 14-week old ferret who only needs 3-4 hours and if I give her more she just sleeps so I put her back in her cage when she starts to sleep. I'm new to ferret owning and are planning to breed them so I want them to be the best in the best health and pretty trained in not biting. my ferret also when is in free roam plays with my mini sausage dog but they don't play rough and enjoy each others company
Before I get my ferret is it okay if I ferret proof my room and let them free room while I’m in school
omg thank you so much for this video i had no idea that water bowls were better
