Incredible variation & attention to details! wonderful to just sit back & watch!
Each to their own i guess but i don't think that road area is wasted space at all, it works perfectly with the station and gives a little context and contrast.
i like the road, it fits in with the railway!

This is one of the most realistic street scenes I have ever seen, love the worn road markings - so lifelike!
Felt down last night, so looked through my boxes that I hadn't touched since moving in a year ago. Found my Hornby sets I hadn't touched for nearly 20 years, including some unboxed trains. Set it up around my xmas tree, which lead me to search RUclips for professional set ups.
I can see you've put thousands of hours and pounds into your set. Looks incredible, re-ignighted my interest and helped my mood immensly. Thank you and subbed.

Great update love your layout how you've got the contrast between the countryside and town/shed scenes. I agree about people in carriages and have spent time putting them in mine, a long job that's work in progress. Enjoyed as always atb Andy

Great work 👍 would it be possible to make a request to ask if you can stick a little camera on front of one of your trains and for other enthusiasts to see the full scale... I have followed your channel for a while and cannot seem to find any such videos of a train going around your layout... your layout is fantastic I could watch the trains go round all day cheers 👍🍺
Dave the space in front of the station is certainly not a waste no point in cramming in all track and no scenery. With regards to the level crossing I would remove the grey/green car from the other side as it draws your attention to the fact that the crossing goes nowhere. Wonder if your empty black and white arrow signs you would see on a tight bend to infer the road goes to the right if that makes sense

Another great update. Some suggestions for the area in front of the station. What about a market complete with a variety of stalls. A open car park could also be a consideration after all people will need to park their car before getting the train. You could also consider a tramline making the area a ‘transport interchange with train, bus & tram.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I did think a little market stall would be a really cool idea, my only concern is damaging it if i lean over too much. Guess it is nothing a bit of perspex couldn't sort 😀
Nice video and really nice layout. Just a bit of info for some detail. Your class 37 engine on the back of the lorry... it wouldn't be held down by chains over the top like that as that would damage the engine. It would be mounted on the deck of the lorry with some equipment of some sort and then chained to the deck of the lorry via mounts on the base of the engine only.

Impressive layout..
Fantastic video. Suggestion to consider for area in front of station. Are the following
1. Fire Station with concrete tower for exercise for firemen
2. Telephone Exchange with pole stack and car was cleaner and vehicles
3. Mobile mast and sub station structure. This will give height and then you can expand this to having vehicles in high street cabling shopping centre. Any photos see google maps for inspiration. Thanks again good luck and will follow for updates. Alan
Thanks for your comments Alan. All really good ideas, the area needs a bit of height but i don't want to block the view too much. Also i am concerned about leaning over it too much so will have to work out a way of protecting it, maybe some perspex... Cheers, Dave

Thanks! I think I bought the NR 73 a while ago but as it is a railroad model I have taken the drive shafts out so it’s just a dummy lurking around the depot 👍
I don’t think that the road is wasted space. Remember there’s a lot of people that just fill boards with loads of track for the sake of having track, I think it works very well and shows it to be a busy urban area with rail and road traffic.
Epic layout 🔥 I really love the principal Station, with the express trains pelting past on the through lines, 💯
along with the depot and the attention to detail.👌. A note on the fore ground Infront of the station,
try not to squeeze too much in there, as it will detract from the Station Scene 👍. Subbed 🤗
Fantastic layout there. You can really see the time you have invested in it. Every little detail you have put in makes a huge difference to the overall appearance of the layout.
One thing I did notice is the BP tanker. It may sound picky but I've never seen a BP tanker delivering to other than a forecourt. It's normally the smaller companies that deliver the diesel to depots. Just something that stood out to me.
I really like that NR pocket wagon though..

@@GoodfordModelRailway At my depot in Tilbury Essex, we have a company called Certas fuel. Still a Large company but not the size of BP/ESSO etc. Their trucks are still marked up though.

If you want to add more details to the bench at the back of the house add two small children standing on the bench looking over the fence watching the trains

Darrenbury Central Hi looks good. Love the depo area. Track looks real. Like the retaining wall. subway good. When i run my layout i play train sound cds it ads to it. Good street scene. You could have steps to shop ctr from plats. Pond good. You could add a fisherman to it. Add a few cows . You could add some track workers. Like the RHTT . I hit the thumbs up. Ive just got GWR St Piran shunter from Hattons. Good HST. Just a fort as you have a few shops on the bank dont do a shop centre do something else like a castel or old stone circle. Tatty Bi

How about a market or boot fair in front of Station Rd, plenty of scope for interesting traders and goods and sounds, buildings might tend to obscure the road scene...
Thanks for taking the time to comment. A market stall would certainly provide scope for a lot of cameo scenes. It is interesting when friends/family come and have a look and their focus is on the non-railway areas of the layout. Cheers, Dave
31:09 that back scene looks awful. Found the only thing that’s not working. Other than your scenic break at the end of the station/yard. Check out Richard’s Everard Junction for a great scenic break extension where the break continues into the non scenic section and the illusion is covered pretty well.
1 thing get rid of that retaining wall by the bridge as it serves no point next to back scene you know what I mean? Other then that it's a good wholesome update.
Good point, it was originally added to protect the signal from me leaning (before I worked out a way of putting backscene there), and when there was going to be a tunnel where the footbridge now is. Not sure how easy it will be to remove though 🤔

Thanks, the layout is about 20 foot x 12 foot. It’s been dismantled now and a new project started 👍
For the 166 you should just use Electra Rail Vinyls
I want to build something similar and was wondering if you have a trackplan for the station and depot area that I could refer to for a similar look
Think there are track plans on the video on this channel called “future plans”. New layout which is an improved version will be revealed very soon… 👍

hi, i'm trying to create like a station ambience for my layout to play on loop, what sort of sounds did you use?
Hi, I just installed 3 of the gaugemaster sound modules around the layout, one station, one animals and I forget which the other is. They’re quite good as you can turn certain sounds on and off using DCC.
Ah nice! I don't have DCC but I might get it in the future. I love the signals and level crossing lights they look brill!
