Sunday bedtime viewing once again 😂 I spent the day hooning around the Peak District on my 1290 and it's good watching you enjoy the Lakes... And who doesn't love a wholesome video with childish pops and burbles from an exhaust 🎉
Makes me laugh thinking that your other half is sitting there wanting to go sleep... "NO we are watching Sam's vid before bed" 😂 It's a great place! Definitely worth some more jumps ha
Enjoyed that series mate. Fair play to Emma following you in the car. Bet you got a bollocking after the camera was off for the 2nd go over Hardknott? 😂 Agree with your thoughts on travel by motorbike. It is the best way to experience a journey. The 1290 makes it even better. Especially 3rd gear power wheelies.
Haha thanks! I was surprised I didn't, she was too busy gloating that she was a "f**king master at driving" 😂 Yeah its genuinely been the best purchase I've made! Power wheelies, 250-300 miles from a tank, heated seats and exhaust pops 😂
Great vid again thanks Sam. I was ducking and weaving watching that 360 camera scrape past those hedges and walls 😉 I'm very fortunate to live "up north" and the lake district certainly is gods playground. I can highly recommend Hartside Pass (A686) next time you're up this way.
Haha! Yeah I forget its on a lot of the time! Nearly hit it on the floor the other day 😂 Ahh nice! I'll have to head back up (what a shame right?!). Definitely want to spend a bit longer up there next time
I’m fortunate to live relatively close to The Lakes and I’ve done Hardknott & Wrynose on many occasions during the last twenty years or so. It’s interesting on a Bank Holiday, beautiful on a sunny day and challenging on a wet winters day. If you ever venture up this neck of the woods again, be sure to visit Wastwater which is just a few miles further on from the Woolpack Inn where you turned around after doing Hardknott the first time. 👍
Very fortunate! What a fantastic place to call home! I'll give that a shot, I definitely need to come back up. This trip seemed a tad rushed so would love to spend longer up there. Thanks for watching!
Now imagine roads like that with multiple hairpins and sheer drop offs to the side, that'll be the Canary Islands. Well worth a trip and you can hire a motorbike whilst there.
Brilliant, I remember doing passes or other stretches of road twice or more for lesser reasons than mere direction issues! 😅 Keep the good stuff coming! Cheers, Lupo
Great video. Is this the future? Artistic and informative. Hats off to Emma for driving the passes. I have done both on a bike as well as in a car (not at the same time) and she done good. It’s better in Summer at 5:00am as the light is so different and no other nutters are up at that time. Glad you seem to enjoy your trip.
Haha! I think I'll go back to power wheelies and giggling like a school girl! Yeah she definitely did well, wheel spins and all sorts but my clutch is still in tact from what I can tell ha! Getting up there for sunrise would be incredible
Great video Sam, love your unpretentious style! :) I rode Hardknott July 2021, and I think you had better weather! Prior to riding it I watched loads of Hardknott vids, and yours is the most entertaining.
Epic. You have quite a naughty giggle. Your SA sounds awesome. Great pics. No pics of your car with a view though? Emma did really well driving it up and down the Hardknott, twice.
Haha yeah it's a naughty school boy laugh isn't it 😂 My cars getting on a bit now and needs a bit of TLC, so it rarely gets involved with pics anymore. Plus bikes are better than cars haha! Yeah she did well! And no dents or burnt out clutches!
Can only say mate, you're doing hardknott the easy way buddy. I have to agree with Emma, Cumbria looks different every day. I love it round there. I need to do those passes again as I've not done them this year yet. Doing it in the dark is good fun. You should come back in August and tackle it from west to east when camper vans are trying to tackle it. That's a challenge!
Haha! Was great to do it both ways! I loved being able to do it with no other cars. I think we saw one other car on the whole thing which is great! Wouldn't like to do it with a load of other drivers there.. especially knowing some of those rental camper van drivers won their driving license from a cereal box 😂
On the to do list went years ago for 4 days in the car certainly didn't have time to explore much but next time will be on the bike for sure . Love the scenery this time of year very dramatic .
Great video Sam. You really should have told her you needed to go back over again. The expression on her face the first time was great. The second time would have been even better! Thanks for taking the time to make the videos. Looking to get my LC8 purring again in a couple of more weeks. We still have snow here in Canada.
😂😂 I think she would have forced me to drive the car! That look on her face was priceless! No problem, thanks for watching. I hope it clears for you soon!
Fab video, what stunning scenery. Well done to Emma, don't think I would want to do it (she's a good un - keep hold of that one 😜 🥰). Saying that I would rather drive it than run like that bloke - omg what a legend
Great vid again 😊. The camera just doesn't show how steep the Hardknott really is! definitely a fun ride . And watch out for those cattle grids they can get a bit sketchy in the wet 😂
Thank you! It really doesn't! I put the 360 cam on in a hope that it would look more life-like, but that flattened it out even more! Haha yeah I probably shouldn't have accelerated on it either 😂
Many years ago I travel to UK transporting strawberries from Spain to many places in England and Scotland Very nice views The problem (my problem) it’s the whether, this rain never stop there 😁😁 Now I live in Switzerland, just like there , one day come the rain , another day come the snow (Forgive me my english) Like about 3 weeks I’m the luckiest owner of a KTM 1290SAS Just do 300 km until now
Thanks mate! Yeah the adv bikes are just so easy to do it on! You can do it on anything, but it's so much easier on a bike with suspension travel, comfortable position, and torque!
@@SamVBikes I agree, it would be okay on my hornet or FJ but adv bikes make it a breeze with their versatility. I think they would be more comfortable for my old arthritic body too. I still think I will have a GS at some point.

Great vid Sam, stunning colours! Any issues running the bike in rally mode with the msr set to one ? ( I would have thought you’d be getting lots of wheel spin ? ) Also how did you rate the Michelin Anakees vs the Pirelli scorpion str’s ?
Thank you! Nope no issues at all! Was really surprised as I'd have thought the tyres would slip but it was solid all the way up! Tyre wise... They are both very good, both handle the same off-road. The Anakee Advs are smoother on the road, with less road noise. The Scorpion Rally STRs might handle slightly better but very very close! Same kind of mileage out of them although the STRs square off quick. Either are great though!
@@SamVBikes great, thanks, doesn’t sound like there’s much between them, heading down through Portugal next month and going to try some of the ACT , new boots needed
9:24 was the bit I dropped my bike (going to other direction) cos my mate in front of me went down due to a walker being stood in the middle of the road 😡 1mph drop, pride the worst thing damaged and two motorists helped up stand the bikes back up and get them to the sides of the road. The pass is not to be taken lightly!
@@SamVBikes I was hoping you'd have power wheeled and made some walker jump into a field and face first into the sheep droppings that were everywhere! 😂
@@SamVBikes i have the same was as you, but i do not do youtube, i take it with me on trips to watch certain roads again lol like i said before, i'm not computer savvy at all and it would probably take me forever to edit something...but, i plan on a photography class soon after i get a couple ADV classes in, i'm on the smaller side so I figure I better get some skills knowledge
The thing I love about Lightroom is that it makes it so easy to edit pictures well without needing to be so tech savvy, so hopefully that will help you too! The presets are pretty good too!
Watching your vids have me seriously considering trading in my gs 1250 for a super adv 1290. Love your content 👌btw what do you use for anti fogging for your helmet?
Haha! I'd definitely recommend it, it's a lot of fun! Thank you! I've got an antifog pinlock insert in the visor, but I also ceramic coated the visor which seems to help with stopping static water building up on it

Have to say, I love you haven't saturated the s**t out of the scenery, I'm liking the moody tones.
Yeah I think the moody tones really set the tone for the weather etc. Brings a realness to it!
When I rode Hardknott , my memory card had filled up, so I got nothing :-/ Sam and the art of Motorcycle Maintenance ;-)
