Sadly enough we lost Karl Wallinger of World Party and formerly of The Waterboys on March 10, 2024. I get out the Rasperberries and World Party albums quite frequently.
Oh, how I loved everything that Eric Carmen did! What a voice. What a songwriter. And just yesterday I found out that Karl Wallinger passed away, so this makes me doubly sad. I saw him with World Party back in 2006 at the Pleasantville music festival (New York) and they were fabulous. To think that we lost these two wonderful musicians within a few hours of each other is really beyond words. May they rest in peace.
AM radio fans loved Raspberries music in the 70's. I was at Charlotte High School in Rochester, NY in the 1970s when the Raspberries came out. I still remember buying their first self-titled "Vinyl" album with the "Scratch and Sniff" sticker on the front. Yes, if you scratched it, it smelled like Raspberries! They had a lot of great songs but my two favorites were, "I Can Remember," and "If You Change Your Mind." I had lost a high school sweet heart back then, and it seemed every one of Eric's words resonated with the feelings I was going through. After Eric left the band for his solo career in the late 1970s, I believe it was the Summer of 1975, I saw the remaining band with Wally Bryson on lead guitar, doing a show at the Hilton High School gymnasium in Hilton, NY. The Raspberries were Great with Eric and Eric had many hits alone and it was great they re-united in the later years to do great shows together again. Thanks for a Great story, Thanks Eric, Thanks Raspberries for Great memories... ♥✝🙏
A huge fan of your musical career Eric Thank You for bringing great joy and happiness in your music for myself and many Your music will continue to live on R.I.P.
Well, for a year they had their moment of fame, but with a teenybopper image. When they tried to repair that (with a few fantastic albums and more singles), the teenies lost interest and the proggies had already dismissed them... A frustrated Eric Carmen gave up and went solo. Here in Europe, they never made it big but nevertheless got some airplay at the time and I became a super fan, and still am, they are an important part of my musical canon and love for power pop, with the likes of Badfinger and Big Star of course. Great they made such a fine reunion album, you're totally right, and thanks for your nice story💗
The Raspberries don't get the respect they deserve, I've often heard them criticized for merely being a pastiche of their 60's influences but they really had musical talent and could rock as well. I'm a fan.
I've been a big fan of The Raspberries since their first album. I still have all 4 albums. Eric Carmen was and is an exceptional song writer and singer with the band and solo.
I know, what a great band. I loved the entire first album. (I also like Heaven And Hell. A diff one than the Who but great also ! I remember my band mates and I figuring out Friday and all those chords and harmonies. It took some doing but in the end sounded really cool.@@ThatSeventiesRockFan
Go to the interview with Dick Clark where he interviews Eric. Eric mentions Cleveland and I think someone in the audience says something. But Eric reminds them there are great musicians coming out of Cleveland. Stigma, thinking it had to be NY or LA.
@@ThatSeventiesRockFan yes that would be a bummer. If only a few shows. I’ve never seen them live. They should play the bands songs and his solo stuff too. I’d love to hear him sing that’s rock n roll and hey Deanie.
Rest In Peace Eric Carmen. Thanks for all the music sir.

@@indiecomicsjones That is terrible news. Private Revolution is a classic. RIP Karl

As a teenager in Cleveland in the 70s, I loved Raspberries! Thank you, Eric Carmen for the music.
RIP Eric Carmen-Thanks to The Raspberries for such great timeless music.
Indeed. He will be missed.

Thank you very much for watching! You totally have me at Badfinger and Big Star, two beloved bands of mine.
So many more great tracks across the four you didn't mention. One fave of mine is Last Dance with their jangly Ricks. RIP Eric.
I do love the "jangly" sound and they were masters of it!

Very talented band indeed.
Great band to me. Important part of my musical journey. Great video work too. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you very much for those kind comments!

Absolutely agree about Eric!
im a huge fan of power pop and love the raspberries and eric carmen
Me too!
I love the Raspberries...but I must also give a shout out to Badfinger.
Hi James. I deeply love Badfinger too and will be doing a video on them at some point. Thanks for watching!
The best of the power pop groups! I second your recommendation- I just love their Pop Art Live recording from 2017 of their reunion performance!
Thanks for watching Helen! Pop Art Live is a beautiful album.
The Raspberries were one of my favorite bands and I wore out their records as I worked on my drumming chops.
Thanks for watching Shayne!
I loved them from when I first heard the opening riffs to Go All The Way in the Summer of 1972.
It's a rare thing to be able to captivate listeners within a few seconds of a song, but Go All The Way is one of those songs.
Myself being an oldie, I also think of when i first heard the opening to Pictures Of Lilly and Friday On MY MInd I felt the same way !
@@JOHNWLOUCKS Yes! Exactly. Great examples.
@@JOHNWLOUCKS ahh The Easybeats with Angus and Malcom Young’s big bro George!

These guys are incredible
They certainly are!
Love the Raspberries..hoping for another Reunion tour

Cleveland had some great stuff going on. I'm going to seek out that interview.
❤❤ Raspberries please do a tribute for Eric in Cleveland Ohio for free so we can come together and remember him ❤❤
That would be great.
Good call and great taste!!
Lovely band.
@@ThatSeventiesRockFan Yes and mémorable !! Still great musique in 2022!!
Benjamin Orr dated Wally Bryson’s sister in the sixties when he lived in Cleveland.
Well there's a bit of deep trivia! Thanks for watching!
Are they ever going to tour/play live again?
I don't believe so, I think the last reunion was it, but never say never again I guess. I for one would love to see them live.

Does anyone know what concert is going on at the one minute mark? Where they are singing I Want to be With You.
I think it may be this performance ruclips.net/video/XhpgjGYIYjk/видео.html
Disagree, I LOVED them!!
They were very loveable!
Common error.....it's just "Raspberries", not "The Raspberries".
Thank you very much for your clarification.
I miss the Agora
Indeed. I think the name is still used but it's a different venue is that right?
