Not gonna lie I have used what I have learned from the persona games and implemented them into my own life. I didn't think P3 would have influenced my life in such a profound way.
However minor its worth talking about the rebranding of the confidant system. Unlike 3 and 4, P5 has a combination of a traditional social link and this new system where you as the main character effectively have accomplices and supporters. Your Accomplices are the thieves proper and your supporters are sort of your teachers. Akira uses his bonds outside of the thieves (with the exception of Morgana) to acquire meds, weapons, learn marksmanship and more effective gunplay, become a better orator, learn strategies and new ways to approach combat, gain support via the Phan site, and making time easier in school and home to contribute to your job as a thief, and use intelligence to better sway opinion of the Phantom Thieves. You could even argue that Sojiro's confident helps your cover. Yeah sure you learn how to make coffee and food and that's cool and all but yeah
I don’t want to believe in tarot birth cards, or astrology But whenever I do these tests, they’re always so accurate to who I am, and even bring up stuff I try to hide away or don’t want to admit
I'm always impressed by the depths of your interpretations. I'm a big fan of the Persona games, I think about the symbolisms and multiples layers, but damn, that game is just too much for me, I gotta play them again.
Imma just leave this here. P3 4 and 5 each have a social link of a certain arcana that levels up on its own. That specific arcana represents the MC's future. P3 had death ranking up on its own. P3's protag could no longer be among the living after the Nyx battle. P4 had the star arcana. We all know Mr Perfect City Boy was loved by all and how Persona 4 was milked hard by Atlus. But think about Dancing All Night and the plot for it. It'll make sense. P5 had Justice level up on its own. It's safe to assume that fate dealt the persona 5 protagonist a reverse justice card due to him being falsely accused of assault. By the end of the game, the justice card was reversed, his criminal record vanishing. Now usually you see the fool and judgement arcanas level up on their own as the story progresses with judgement coming after fool. In P5, Judgement does not need the fool arcana to be maxed for it to come into play. I'd like to see that as Judgement being necessary for Joker's survival since Sae is willing to hear him out and therefore help him and believe him more with each rank up. She, as a prosecutor wishes to help judge true criminals so the max rank points her in the right direction just like a blade.
@@azureorpheus4293 well, here's my take on it. In past persona games you had plots to stop death and put an end to bizzare killings. Sure those things are strange for teenagers to accomplish but triggering changes of heart in the minds of criminals and making them confess their crimes before society is nothing short of magical. + you have a talking cat that guides you throughout this. If that's not magic, idk what is. Not to mention that the magician gains ranks the more you progress throughout the game, or should I say the more you reform society. Going after bigger targets, facing more and more dangerous opponents, it reflects on how strong the power of a cognitive change of heart can be. Thing is, you experience that the more you progress through the game.
I think Shinjiro would be the easiest to connect. [Spoilers!] • • • • • • He obviously tries to *deceive himself* and make himself forget that he killed an innocent woman even going to the extent where he takes drugs. He keeps up his walls and refuses to bond with others in order to not hurt anyone when he dies. He keeps everything about the drugs and his involvement with strega a *secret* especially with Akihiko. He also *represses his emotions* to keep up a tough boy act and is another way to not make others bond with him. And when you finish his Link, instead of dying, he is in a coma, making him *unconscious* .
Interesting analysis. Definetly going to use this for reference for SLs in my P4 Fanfiction. My protagonist very much seems to fit the priestess though she is a wild card.
I dare you to either do Emmet from the lego movie with the lore of persona with Rex as his shadow or do the mlp mane 6 cast as the arcana hearts and shadows
It's being long since someone did this, that person wasn't able to finish cause you know...stuff from reality. I hope to actually see a complete set but...remember to do things in your own pace, okay? :)
I curiously looked at my tarot cards, and... I got The Hanged Man and The Empress. Knowing me, that doesn’t sound right. *can someone please explain ;-;*
1:40 Well that is absolute bunk, I got 139, then 13+9=22 and there are only 21 major arcana besides The Fool, not to mention 2+2=4 and The Emperor doesn't suit me in the slightest. Besides, people's affinity for the cards can change as life moves on, that's how it's supposed to work...
Late reply, but that number actually could place you in the alternative number for The Fool: 22. I still kinda think it's BS, but it's interesting BS. (On and in case you were curious I got The Star.)
I almost feel like all social links or confidants start at their reverse position and grow into the upright position. Am I the only one? For example, Magicians start arrogant or immature before realizing the truth behind their actions and each priestess is withdrawn in one way or another before become nurturing and strong
I believe this is because Bunkichi, Ryotaro, and Sojiro are not the fathers of any of the protagonists but rather because they are fathers they are very wise. Not to mention that Akihiko, Kanji, and Yusuke fit way better with the Emperor Arcana due to themes with Power and Authority associated with such
2:30 “The S.E.E.S assumes that by killing the full moon shadows, they could end the midnight channel” I think you got your games mixed up there buddy
Oof man
Kek
It was always the midnight channel
Technically no when you thunk about it
What are you taking about? The Phantom Theives need to collect the crystal skulls to stop the Tenchu army from taking control of the Midnight Channel.
Interesting interpretations. It almost sounds like all of the arcana are reversed at the start and slowly they are righted as the story progresses.
That’s basically most social links, the start reversed but slowly start becoming upright
I mean he says we start out as the fool card and gain our personalities through our actions so of course I’d be flawed at first as we grow as people
That's bad news for the tower and devil
@@ruskah0307 not necessarily. Remember upright tower represents changing due to tragedy. They become better person after a wakeup call
Welcome back buddy we needed someone like you back around here
as someone who studies tarot, this video has some really good explanations of the cards.
Oh....oh my god...

Been searching for someone to break down the spiritual meaning of the tarot cards of the Persona series. Thanks for this.
I know I’m late but

Ohhh it’s been a while! Great vid hope to see stuff on p5r and q2 !
This shows to me the persona team has some genius writers working on these great games

The arcana is the means by which all will be revealed

P5 also has the Magician, but I don't know if that plays into anything

Can you look at the other S.Links that the P3 Female Protagonist gets? Akihiko, Shinji, Volleyball, Ken (I think that's all of them).
@I have a Shota fetish Those too, yes.
And Ryoji.
I think Shinjiro would be the easiest to connect.

Social Links and Confidant is so fantastic.
2:34 the dark hour* lmao
good video as always! missed you pal
Awesome been looking forward to this vid
Video is really cool! Not going to cover the Persona 3 Portable S-Links, though?
1:35 when i use this meathod to calculate my tarot birt hard my first was 5 ( The hierophant)
And my second number was 14( Temperance)
I tried and ended up with World (21) first and Empress (3)
Neither I'd ever consider myself but ok
I got The Hermit (9) as Main, then The Moon (18) as the secondary. And it feels spot on.
I hope you do the palaces of the antagonist and their shadows from P5
I did the Tarot calculator and i got Death and The Emperor
Mine is the fool
i got the moon & the hermit
Mine is lover and devil
Mine's the tower and chariot... Fits me well I guess.
Hangman and empress even though I’m a boy.
(WTF)
I checked my tarot birth card and it turns out to be *ZA WORLDO*
While i was seeing this video, i took a n arcana card test , and got the fool
For my birth cards I got the devil and lovers
You should do a crossover with Nenilein
I dare you to either do Emmet from the lego movie with the lore of persona with Rex as his shadow or do the mlp mane 6 cast as the arcana hearts and shadows
Social...Link..Go?
Maybe I'm just an uncultured swine, but what's the BGM at 0:00?
cab you do a video on philemon, ps yukari is the lovers, because of her parents
Actually, what the Lovers arcana usually represent is loving someone romantically.

Hey, question. Are there any non-standard major tarot arcana that have yet to be represented in the Persona series yet?
how about junpei in p3p what is the meaning of his personality ?
The sees doesn't have the midnight channel
What’s the music here 0:21 ?
Can I watch this somewhere?

Pretty sure the arcana tarot cards means that persona characters are stand users
